When he lost to Ferrer at the Aussie Open this year, everyone knew and could see he was in pain, but he never made an excuse, and gave Ferrer the credit he deserved. It takes a different kind of fighting spirit to continue a match when in pain, but he did.
I've always admired both for their class. They really do have so much. And yeah the excuses are mostly media based. and yes it was a good fight at Aussie this year however I think Ferrer would have won regardless. Roger is so lucky that he never get injury and if so it's very slight and short. That mono in 2008 was his only real bad time and he still made Aussie SF French and Wimbledon Final. I believe it was gone by Us Open.
