  • Goddamn, the player runs fast in this game.

  • I preferer the original sounds of weapons and monsters =P

  • @welctoj Quite frankly, these sounds only work well with Doom 64, since the game has an entirely new look and feel too.

  • Pure nostalgia. Be playing this game when I was what...15-16 yrs old. I always played it in the dark and boost it up to Ultra Violence for a tensed play.

  • Yep got ps1 first games i bought were doom and x-com.

All bought from my pay of my first job.

  • Wtf is this shit? This version sucks! They took out some of the best parts!

Also, the Doom series is infinitely more fun played on Ultra-Violence or higher.

  • liked the ps soundtrack it made the game more atmospheric

  • i'm 13. i love this wayyyyyyy more than most of the shit today!

  • I take it this is considered the best port of Doom? :)

  • when i played the demo for the PS1 Doom, it had no music or ambience whatsoever.

  • how i used to play doom... shoot 1 guy... run like fuck...

  • It's awesome to see how far FPS have come from this, to MW3 and BF3

  • The PSX version of Doom was the most superior of all the versions IMO

  • @888MikeM888 yeah def, the framerate is fine, never had any issues. dont know why people say it has bad framerate. the psx music is awesome, much better than the pc, i couldnt play the pc one the music was so bad

  • @Garnetandzidane Doom 3 was utter shit.

  • @KarntheHellknight what world do you live in? Doom 3 was pretty decent

  • @inked420able No shit sherlock..

  • can u strafe in this?

  • @DaveTheSodaGuy0 Yeah.

  • doom 3 is better

  • Where can I get a working ROM of this?

  • My fave port of DOOM. PC version is still the best, but this is the best console port.

  • I also used to play this one more on my PSP. It's also easy to play the first few levels on UV.

  • Man, even the SNES version had more textures than this. That doesn't make sense at all.

  • @IronicCommando It might have to do with poorly optimized streaming maybe, though, the textures do help with the darker atmosphere imo.

  • @IronicCommando The PS version lacks some geometry and 2D objects, but had much higher texture resolution, framerate, even coloured lights. Contemporary ports to other systems fared far worse with smaller screensize, stuttering framerate etc.

The Snes version was a remarkable programming feat when you consider what they had to work with, but they butchered the textures, removed floor and ceiling textures and it still ran in a 10-15'ish fps.

  • @IronicCommando its cause there Nintendo.

  • Time to throw this on the Xperia Play :D

  • @JoeyBelgier Buy the Doom app from Jack Niu on the A. Market. I did it and i don't regret it.

  • @Moisemo25 Thanks for the tip, couldn't get my rom to work on any emulator :C

  • This is a first FPS game EVER

  • @igi1022 Have you heard of Wolfenstein 3D?

  • @Moisemo25 Actually the first actual free movement FPS was called Battlezone, which was a tank fps released in 1980. The first full color fps was called wing commander. But the games that truly revolutionized the genre started with Hovertank 3d, Catacomb 3d, Wolfenstein, and then ofcourse Doom, all of which were made by id.. to no surprise :)

  • @igi1022 no its not

  • Memories from a 90's doom addict

  • why is there no music on this version of the game?

is it just for the play station or did you turn it off or something?

  • @PencilDice Playstation version has ambiance instead of music.

  • @KarntheHellknight i see, thx i am used to the snes version with music

  • @KarntheHellknight Kinda gives the game a more horror movie feeling.

  • @KarntheHellknight There is music though, it's in the menus and the game intro. It's pretty much all the same music as D64.

  • @darharrison Yeah, but it's slightly different. Doom64's music was a remixed version of this, but I actually like this version better.

  • @KarntheHellknight Today I leaned...

  • @PencilDice NOOB

  • @biggunz63088 whatever its hard to keep up with all the different DOOM games on different consoles which for some reason are all different in terms of graphics, and music

  • @PencilDice its cool i only played ps1 version.....Playstation all the way baby

  • @biggunz63088 i wished i had a ps1 games like metal gear kick ass

  • @PencilDice aww man metal gear solid was the reason i got a ps2 and ps3...i must of been about 12 years old playing that game

  • @PencilDice Turn up your speakers, there IS music

  • memories when i first got me ps1 back in 1996

  • PC Doom > Console Doom

    Don't be a moron.

  • doom on xbox is way better and i mean the arcade one not three

  • @cfizzal Xbox = PC version.

  • doom is the best on the playstation, the PC version is a joke, stupid arcade music, the psx has terrifying music. who would prefer the PC version is beyond me

  • @warwick2155 TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

  • @KarntheHellknight how the hell am I a troll for giving my opinion? Idiot

  • @warwick2155 Limitless moddability. Even the PSX version has been modded into PC.

  • @KarntheHellknight

    wait what? x-plain??

  • I use to play it a 5 yo hahaha

  • Oh God..The Sega Saturn version is a fucking mess compared. They removed the lighting, PLUS the framerate went to absolute hell. Joy. Just Joy. Oh well, I wish I had my PS1 :(

  • Just loved the music and sound effects in this version! Far better than the normal music

  • I NEED MORE OLD CONSOLES AND GAMES FOR THEM Only old console i have is PS1

  • @Colton5 you really are dumb aren't you? This came out before doom 64. He even wrote it in the description learn to read before you open your mouth and say something stupid.

  • i played this game on my ps1 when i was 5 years old :D good memories xD

  • i love how doom 64 took the sound affects from this game. :)

  • the sound effects are pretty awesome, compared to most other versions. Strange to hear it with the ambient music, instead of the usual metal tracks

  • nice try about the video but from the walkthough and your aim u saw us that u arent good enough :P

  • used to play this when i was young :) good old days used to play on it alot - thumbs up for doom

  • Thanks to the sounds I just can't stop thinking of Doom 64

  • Comment removed

  • The solund effect of picking up an item sound strangely familiar to the game "Medieval".

  • @PsychoSaneGames Do you mean Medievil? I loved that game XD

  • @hildegain Yeah, sorry. It's a great game and I'd reccomend a playthrough.

  • @PsychoSaneGames Don't worry, I already lets played that one XD

  • jesus this brings back some memories :D

  • Those psx sound effects bring back memories of late nights playing Doom!

  • I haven't played Doom since I had it for 32X. I never even knew there was a Doom for PS1. Man, the PS1 had A LOT of games.

  • @AllPro777 I think the Playstation stood out for me as having the most games I would ever play on a console :)

  • "Consider this a Christmas Special"

    >Christmas Special

    >Christmas

Moral of the day: Remeber to celebrate the birth of Christ and all that is holy by sending the legions of Hell back to their rotten decaying homes made out of flesh and bones, kids!

  • very cool!!

  • now this is doom... it shows the games darkest side

  • God i used to love this game, those sound effects are bad fxckin ass. Especially that little pong when you pick something up :D

  • How come yours loads faster? :/

  • They really should just rename this game "Epic"

  • This is amazing!

Imagine if this version existed when it first came out?

  • i prefer this doom then the one on the xbox

  • I used to play this when i was 5, brings back memories!

  • your favorite sonds music of doom??? psx or pc

  • Now imagine how sad it would be if one of his boots had a undone lace.

  • they used the Doom 64 sounds, which = FUCKING AWESOME!

  • @ KarntheHellnight sorry u said Google it hahaha

  • @KarntheHellnight Where can i find it ? :D

  • @KarntheHellnight how ? :3

  • @Newbold98 Google "Doom legacy for PSP"

  • I really think they should port DOOM over to the psp. That would be awsome :D

  • @Newbold98 You could already play on the PSP though.

  • @KarntheHellknight how is that possible!? What game/compilation disk?!

  • @Newbold98 Without CFW?

  • Where's dat awsum music ? I miss it D:

On PSX in Doom is so silent and depressive music D:

  • Why is not E1M1 theme on this psx version?

  • I have Doom classic on my ipod touch, it has all the levels and stuff and the sound effects are the same as the PC version. I noticed when he reloads the gun it doesnt make that clicking sound but it's no big deal. Still a great game :)

  • @Doomguy458

lol priceless moments, M-rated games, coke, and pizza/snacks at like 12:00 am with no lights with ur friends and cousins

  • Actually, the PlayStation version became my favourite version of Doom, yes excactly, the isolation, extreme violence, the much better music than the PC version, the crying babies, the game speed...damn.

  • If u walk up and down the steps its a porno!

  • LOL WALKING SPEED :D

  • I used to always play this game with my brothers back in the day. I was only about 6 or 7 at the time, and they still let me play it! lt's weird how a girl can love this game as well (me.) Gotta love it.<3

  • It's been a while since I played this. Some levels were so hard. Those monsters scare me. Lol

  • I have the HD version on my xbox 360 but it got removed because of content liscensing but they do have doom II

  • Love this versions music!

  • I WANT THIS SOO BADLY

  • I've never seen the playstation port before. It's very stripped down but I love the atmosphere with the ambient sounds and lighting.

  • 2:00 TRIPLE KILL

  • doom 1 playstation rules every version out there!

  • Best port.

  • It's still beyond me why they would remove so many of the game's textures. Surely, this Doom port can't be bigger than ~700 megabyte? I mean, the DOOM.WAD file is 11.8 megs.

  • @Angerelic Maybe it is now, but perhaps compression techniques werent as good back then.

  • @volkte37 I didn't think of that. Makes sense though. Maybe they picked the budget version and scaled down Doom to match the CD's storage capacity.

  • @Angerelic it's the video buffer limit not the CD rom limit. playstation had like 256KB of video memory. not enough for all the textures.

  • @nerfmyaccount Oh yeah, well that makes more sense. Thanks.

  • Perfect Hatred on Ultra Violence is playable. Just the frames drop a little bit in the beginning. I recently replayed doom on my PS1 and it's absolutely playable in every level.

    Awesome port.

  • LOL the sound of the Pistol is the same of the German soldiers in Commandos.

  • @lordjrs0 HAHA, dude, I was playing that yesterday and totally noticed.

  • Before Doom 3 and 64, here's where that delicious horror atmosphere was first introduced!

Something about this port looks and sounds...dream-like. Like a twisted, entrail-covered nightmare that won't end, your eyes nailed shut.

  • i always did the cheats... idbehold, idkfa, and iddqd

but that was on the computer version

  • wich program its used for recording this video ??? thanks for your information!! for you coperation... like robocop!! jijiijiij.... alguien sabe como grabar este video para postar en la net?? que programa se usa?? gracias , caras de coños

  • If the PS1 version had the Archvile in it, it would definitely be my all time favorite Doom game, because everything else is so much better than the pc version, in my opinion, like the music and the atmosphere.

  • Doom 1 for the PS1 ( my cousin have a original copy) as no music.... its just like that.

And playing it without any music and no saves (at the end of each level is given a password to load the map u where, no save cards yet) its a lot more intence to play... if u die u have to do the level from beggining.

    I preffer the PS1 version.

  • Sorry, those extras are included in DooM 3: Resurrection of Evil.

  • I forgot to ask one more question. Is DooM 64 worth buying? Maybe if I buy DooM 3 with all those extras I mentioned it will be enough of DooM?

  • Hey, could you, please, tell me which versions of DooM 1 & 2 I will get if I buy DooM 3 for the Xbox? I heard it includes DooM 1 with additional Episode (Ultimate DooM) and DooM 2 with Master Levels. So, are they PSone versions or not?

    Thanks.

Oh, and has anyone found all the secrets in DooM 1? :)

  • I dont care whether I play it on PC or PS2(i have a ps2 not a ps), it takes me back to the good old days of my childhood and I love the game for that.

  • great video, anyone who wants to play this differently, play the PSX doom tc. its scary too

  • Mine freezes at the load screen. I'm using Pcsx with Mooby2 image driver.

  • Used to play this for hours linked up with my friends PS1 back in '97 I think it was. Happy days :)

  • @SamSevenFive same best years of my life

  • im off school today and i dug out my ps1 from under the bed was dusty as fuck cleaned it and played doom for hours and hours god i remember when i was like 2 and my older brother and dad would play this use 2 scare the shit outa me

  • This is what Doom is supposed to be. The PC version is so damn cheesy with it's MIDI rock'n'roll music, and the monsters there sound like pokemons or some shit. Dynamic lighting, atmospheric tracks and the audio in general is what makes DooM. PSX DooM. The N64 version is also god damn awesome. Using the same sounds as this one.

  • Comment removed

  • @BeyondNeptune I'm not a nigger, I'm a white skinny metalhead. Just because I found the PC music cheesy, doesn't mean I hate rock and metal music. Way to failtroll, you dumbass.

  • Play PC Doom in highest possible resolution (1680x1050 is the highest my monitor supports) and you'll jump at the sight of a demon popping out around a corner no matter the soundtrack. Doom was made famous because of all the violence, not the horror, so I prefer the original soundtrack. It's not all rock either, there's a few atmospheric tracks as well.

I dislike how many sounds from the PSX versions are taken from a public soundbank, so I recognize many of the sounds from Abuse.

  • @Joymani It was the same with the sounds from the PC version.

  • Comment removed

  • @KarntheHellknight i like this version better, the sounds are more intense, now if you want to buy it; say psp or xbox live, you only find the versions with the bullshit noises like with the pistol that goes "bop bop bop bop"

  • @KarntheHellknight Exactly. A LOT of game studios do it when they don't have the budget to hire a dedicated audio team like DICE's in-house sound effects team.

  • @Joymani it seems they wanted to try something diffrerent for the psx game, which i think they did well

  • this rocks

  • Starbladek negative or what

  • You fucked this playthrough up. You fucked it up real bad. You left out the music. But I'm pretty sure you already heard the other hundred people complain about it.

  • @Starbladek Haha, jeez, I know. Sadface, I'm a failure I guess.

  • Comment removed

  • @Starbladek What are you talking about man? Are you deaf? Only SOME of the Music is missing. The Map music is perfectly audible ..... I'm using headphones and I can hear it.

  • @MrRudyjj I believe it was sarcasm.

  • @Starbladek abit unfair mate

  • GREAT FUCKIN MUSIC HUH? ITS SO GREAT YOU CANT EVEN HEAR IT

  • :( the music was the best thing about the doom games.

  • For me, this is the best DOOM.

But if you want to Play PC DOOM with high resolution graphics, 3D Models and this Playstation DOOM Music on your PC, use a Source-Port such as "JDOOM" (which includes Hi-Res & 3D Heretic and Hexen)

  • Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein are the best oldies in 3D gaming history.

  • All this version needed to be win in its purest form was the Archvile's from the PC version. Still the best incarnation of Doom though.

  • cheat code : WHZD5LJYW you get a double barrel shotgun in the first level

  • Very nice written description and video! I was thinking about buying the Jaguar version, but after seeing this video, should I just hunt for a PlayStation version or play it on Xbox instead?

  • @arioca The Xbox version is pretty much exactly what the PC version is, minus the tons of moddability. I'd go for the PlayStation version. It's pretty unique, and gives a different feel to the game.

  • What level do you claim is unplayable? (in description)

  • @ElensarFFXI Perfect Hatred on UV.

  • This is by far the best version IMO. PC is great obviously but it's quite laughable with the original music

  • i remember this scaring me alot in later levels witht he big huge face things

  • do you know where the pain elementals are in this game cause I cannot find any anywhere. Could you help me out?

  • @rbooth666 First level on Ultra Violence, go to the secret elevator and go up top.

  • @rbooth666

Play it on Ultra Violence. You'll run into at least 3 or 4 in the first episode on UV, and if I recall correctly there aren't any on the other difficulties (maybe one or two in Hurt Me Plenty)

  • @rbooth666 The first one can be encountered on a harder mode on E1M1 in the secret tunnel.

  • Hey dude do you know where the pain elementals are in this game cause they arnt anywhere and I have the EXACT same game as you. Could you help me out?

  • wow very different of pc

  • Is it just me, or is that Williams Entertainment intro the coolest thing you've ever seen?
