@bodom71 No, in The Gospel of Judas he does NOT hang himself, but he predicts his own demise. He told Jesus he had a vision of the other disciples stoning him to death. It is ONLY in Matthew that he hangs himself. Next time, pay attention!

Even if the gospel of judas is true or false. There's no way it can destroy my faith. Even if its a secret mission or just a fictional story. Judas a villain or Jesus most loved disciple. Its all about the hatred of Judas that separates you from what Jesus teaches which is to love others despite of their evilness.Judas plays a key role in our salvation and the mission of Jesus in this earth and I think its God's will for him. The discovery is good in a way it helps our faith to grow more.

@847..... actually the Contantine and Paul wanted to have the Trinitarian philosophy which was the premium theology fashonable around the world. Actually Jesus was an Essene and wanted to free the Jews from oppression of the Romans. what better way to orchestra his life in a way so that believeable theology for the rulers to accept and follow. Ha! I love the reasoning to believe in Judas' Gospel: "Well, just because we don't have an official record for it, doesn't mean it didn't exist before we actually have records for it." Any other historical inquiry such as that would be thrown in the trash immediately. The same could be said for the 4 recognied Gospels and how does anybody know that there aren;t more Gospels out there and what they contain, refuting or reinforcing what we already understand the Gospels to be?

This is pretty interesting. I've also read a lot about what the Catholic Church did before. We must always have some one to blame. This way we always diver others from seeing our own faults. Since I child, I've always believed that all humans have the divine spark in them. This is triggered when you see some one in crisis. A child in trouble, a family in need. Or a homeless person who has no bed to rest at night. Even when you read this text as you read it, you also know it's true. :-)

I read the 4th edition of Bart Ehrman's THE NEW TESTAMENT: AN INTRODUCTION TO EARLY CHRISTIAN WRITINGS last year. In that book, he does mention and give the background information to the Gospel of Judas. So, it was neat to see this documentary and learn more about it.

At 4:50 on part 8, it says "Almost all experts believe the 4 Gospels of the new testament were written between 60 and 100 AD." While I admire their woek on this "gospel," the producers state such an error to keep the controversy alive. Only the faithful believe any of it was written before the events "prophecized" by Jesus about the destruction of the temple. Many believe it was written much later than 100 AD, closer to the middle or end of the 2nd century AD.

@SeeYourDoctor Back in the 19th century, yes. The oldest parchment we have is a small fragment from a Codex which contains the Gospel of John from 10-150 A.D. meaning that the last Gospel of the Bible was in circulation much earlier than when you say they were. Welcome to the 21st century!

I agree entirely. I have heard stories that it was judas who died on the cross and later it was made out to be jesus who died then was resurrected, but jesus never died on the cross to begin with. I don't know what it says in the Qur'an, but gnostic texts also indicate this.
