What more could you ask for but to see a gracefully aging Dusty Springfield singing in this fashion. This in my opinion is her finest performance to date. I have never heard her so breathy, and ethereal. Besides this, she uses her vibrato ornamentation to the max. In other words, a magnificent performance that sums up quite possibly the greatest vocalist of any gender, race, or genre. RIP Mamma Dusty Springfield!
Voices that get that warmed over effect sound as if there's more range. In fact Dusty always had the range but sang according to the given arrangement. But you can't compare Roll Away to, let's say, It Was Easier To Hurt Him. Her voice went through the changes but my goodness could she rise to the occasion every time. Most impressive.
This is one of my favorite songs that Dusty covers. She can wrap you up in the song, hold you suspended in emotion and speak to your soul about love and heartache like no other human ever has (or I suspect, will). God must be happy to have his lead singer back! I can't wait to hear and see her again.
Duztfan..i liked wat u wrote ;-) this piece is too beautiful...so much soul in that voice it burst in ur face. How great to have people who actually share understanding in music and a life of a marvellous woman. RIP Dusty ;-)

I think this is the best ballad she ever did, she still sounded great even though she had an illness..

My all time fave Dusty song, is it a cover? Loved Diana Ross' version of Dusty's classic "Goin back". A great talent which is sorely missed, xxx

This video and song choice show why other singers take a step back when this lady did her ballads. Is there an equal?
havenoneatall 3 years ago 5
No, no equal. She was the best. That voice. God.

Our dear Dusty in one of her final appearances to promote her last recorded album. Our girl, still poised and polished in her final years.
