I'm one of very few that believe that Obiwan tapped into and used the dark side of the force, IMO . Maul was startled by thoughts that obiwan was actually a sith. Why else would the great darth maul go completely stupid when it mattered most? obiwan makes a face and maul is supposed to be afraid of that? Obiwan was destined to fail as a jedi (and Anakin was one of his biggest failures and mistake. Obiwan had pride as well as denial. when obiwan killed maul he cheated and should not be a jedi.

@phily4life yeah, but Obi-wan had the light side. His jumps are easier to make. When Obi-wan faced Vader, Vader had the dark side, so his jumps were harder to make. One point of that fight showed Vader landing on the platform, then kinda stumbling backwards, showing that he almost fell off. The dark side is more offensive, but less precise and focused.
