  • I was there 12 years old. Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy, JP, Scorps, Triumph and fell asleep 3 songs into Van Halen my favorite group. Best concert day of my life.

  • was this the Us Festival?

  • YOUR RIGHT...30 YEAR'S AGO... BUT WHOSE COUNTING, RIGHT.. U WIN !!! LOL

  • LOL maybe I'm wrong but I think Eddie was play that intro back stage and Dave was just mimicking with his guitar

  • @roxydog2004 Nope. Thats Dave.

  • You dont fix that feedback im gonna kick your ass....................a little more feedback johnny

  • THAT WAS THE DAY...20 PLUS YEARS AGO...ARGHHHH!!!

  • @muppy1100 that was over 30 years ago

  • When the fuck did we get ice cream?!

  • @bigemoney31 haha the ringer

  • This is the night Adnoydall was anally probed in a walMart parking lot, 3 blocks away, witnessed by teen boys, hence the start of Noyd's non stop trolling/harassing/attacking sane veiwers of this mighty band! Eddie is unbelievable here. Les Paul stated himself, King Edward revolutionized rock n roll Guitar, i agree completely!! EVH is God Cheers

  • ICE CREAM FOR EVERYBODY.

  • This at the old Glen Helen Pavilion?

  • No wonder they fired his ass. But fuck it, it was a golden age of rock and roll. Eine Zeitgeist.

  • 7:11 minus David Lee Roth equals 2:55 of Van Halen.... Hey Dave, Shut Up!

  • fuck the san bernadino county sheriffs dpt. i live in that county and most of em are fucks

  • SHUT UP DAVE..... Just let Eddie play

  • I was at this show .... VH was all drunk and fucked up so much but still was deserving of the headline status at this show. No other band rocked and took the fans where they wanted to go.

VH was the GOD band during this era...

    they changed music forever.

  • guitar solo + loud speakers = EPIC ORGASM!!!!!!

  • WOAH at 3:23!!! There is a pic of Eddie doing a big ass stretch lick and I always wondered what the hell he was playing...this guitar lick has to be it. AWESOME!!!

  • lmao "if u dont fix that feedback, im gonna kick your ass"

  • greetings from Argentina! good band! eddie is the guitar hero for ever.

  • I wonder where the poster found this video in HD

  • @paulbongiorno Gee thats funny I remember Dave getting owned by Sammy , Dave had an uninspired set of VH....Sammy can obvi survive without VH, Dave not so much....

  • @blasty5150 yeah well theres the difference between van halen fans: Dave fans actually like the music, Sammy fans just like to put it on to get laid to. But Dave fans have better sex.

  • @blasty5150 Sammy... who? I remember a guy named Sammy tryin to copy David's style, but wasn't very successful in doing so. That is when I stopped listening to VH. Oh yeah, and there was this guy named Sammy, That couldn't drive 55, but that song sucked too.

  • @guitfdlr Dont be sour dude, you're just like every other washed up wrinkly old DLR fan. I'd be suprised if you can even get it up anymore without help.....Sammy dwarfs the little talent that dave has.....ANd besides, the only one copying anything was dave trying to be some queer named jim dandy lolol....How bout those assless chaps??????

  • @blasty5150 I'm not sour, kinda sounds like like your an expert on gettin it up by yourself.lol

Personally, I think they are both washed up talent. As for the chaps, I don't remember those, but you still remember them for some reason.lolo

  • @blasty5150 look up van halen the early years interview Jim Dandy sit down and states that Dave took nothing from him and had his own thing going on...your ignorance is showing stop embrassing yourself

  • I KNEW David was playing the guitar on all those songs! Eddie was just finger-synching.

  • =VH= Hey Van Halen fans, please come join me on the new and official Van Halen Fan Club page on YouTube... I will be posting rare VH footage ranging from the club days to next year's tour! Van Halen rules!!!!

  • @paulbongiorno ditto, but sammy killed it. saw them in atl, sammy had energy all the way througha nd michael anthony sat in for his show, good stuff.

  • son of a gun is so freakin stoned!

  • eddie's lead was great.. but it was his rhythms and chord progressions that were so damn unique.. see 1984 album = brilliant

  • Sadly many people say that satriani and vai kick eddies ass. They dont realize this: Take a look at EVERY guitarist that came before eddie. If they can name one guitarist that played like eddie and/or used his techniques then they can come talk to me about it b/c NO ONE did. After eddie almost every guitarist used his technique and style. Ed started the blistering 80's metal guitar era. While i consider satch and vai good i consider ed to be the best.

  • @EvhCharvel Even the players before Eddie had to adapt his style and tone to even survive. Clapton had that compressed, chorusy tone, Priest and The Scorpions adopted more hot, modern tones and EVH shred technique. Lukather played on every other hit in the 80's and played Ed style solos in dance songs, pop songs, and toto songs. Mesa Boogie and Soldano exist because of the demand for a built in Eddie tone. Les Paul said Ed had more of an impact on the guitar than he did. Ed is the man.

  • @careypeak23 this is one of the best descriptions of his skill that i have ever heard. you dont even understand how much that comment kicks ass. and how gd true that is. Eddie is truly unbelievable

  • @EvhCharvel He had a vision of a style and sound and figured out how to make it happen, instead of just settling for the tones that were available and the techniques that were popular, he obsessed like a mad scientist until he created the style you hear on eruption. I all he ever did was record eruption and die, he would still have had the same impact on guitar playing. Eruption is 3 minutes of horizen for guitarists

  • @careypeak23 Eruption and the solo in Dazed and Confused are the two things that got me started playing guitar. Zep was my favorite band and when i heard VH i was (no joke) in denial, actually fighting with myself trying to convince myself that Page was better b/c i had liked Led Zeppelin for so long. Eddie truly blew my perspective on guitar out of the water.

  • @EvhCharvel Its not that VH is difficult as much as it is just fast and wierd, and requires a certain tone to achieve. This was all foreign back then.I was a freshman in HS preaching Halen and the seniors wanted to kill me. They were all about the classic rock bands, but I saw right away that ED was the fuckin man!. Then everybody copied him and we had the eighties!

  • EU COMO KIBE CRUUUU!

  • Hey does anyone know the van halen song from back to the future? where the main character plays it to his dad in the 1950's through the headphones>?

  • @love2punk it was recorded for a movie called the wild life, which starred lea thompson from back to the future. The whole soundtrack is eddie, and it rocks. look it up

  • @careypeak23 yeah everyone says its donut city though i dont think so man

  • Yanno, I liked these guys when I didn't have to look at them. But now I realize they were the beginning of the glam era...and that turned into a low point for rock. And heck yeah, Dave needs to STFU. lol

  • @jtomasik Actually, I consider Dave the pioneer of the 80's "Glam Rock" look and style. Look at all of his outlandish outfits he wears throughout the entire Van Halen 1st installment years. No one dressed the way he did, but soon enough the likes of Ratt, Poison, and even KISS were glamming it up.

To put so much emphasis on Eddie starting it all, well I suppose you could say that. It could also be said that Van Halen were just the first of a huge tidal wave of rock guitar players then.

  • @LORTABFEVER Randy Rhoads was playing in Quiet Riot in the late 70's. Jake E. Lee was in RATT and many other players were in many different bands that played with a similar style. You must remember that Van Halen came from the Hollywood band scene. Players were ripping each other off for years. I'm sure he influenced many players, and perhaps he was influenced by others around him from that time as well.

  • Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll.

  • fucking awesome perfomance!

  • I love early VH!!!

  • eddie van halen is god, this performance is awesome , and the quality of this vid is garbage.

  • somebody please... what in the hell does he say before "dixie cups"??? I've listened to the song 500 times and can't tell what he says.

  • @AugieDog6

"I got bim bam banana pops, dixie cups

    All flavors and pushups too..."

  • @AugieDog6 "I got bim bam banana pops, dixie cups

    All flavors and pushups too"

  • slappy fagar ruined edward with mtv crap

  • this is one of the best solos ever..!!

  • Comment removed

  • awsome intro to the song

  • this is evh at his best

  • when eddie came in i was like woah

  • 1 word "FUCKINGHAMMERED"

  • Freakin Awesome Man!

  • lmao

"if you dont feed that fix that feedback im gonna kick your ass"

Dave is hilarious when hes stoned

  • before malmsteen, before vai, before satriani, there was eddie

  • @cmetta4 before Satriani? Dude he was already a famous guitar teacher back in 1976.

  • @razorman916 yeah, but back then u couldnt get ur hands on satch or vai and who the hell knows where malmsteen was at, but i could get a van halen record at kmart...

  • @razorman916

    Ed > Joe

  • @razorman916 I think he meant before he was considered legendary. But I still think Eddie was better than Satriani.

  • @cmetta4 and there still is.

  • @cmetta4 but before eddie there was jimi hendrix :P

  • when dave went out it was 75% VH kickin him out cuz of ego and drunkeness problems and 25% dave wantin a solo career cuz of his giant ego and wantin all fame to himself

  • david is out-of-control drunk in this video......he pretty much ruined this performance

  • @mtmjb44 that made the video

  • No wonder it went to Van Hagar!

  • @scratch3223 fuck yeah!

  • ROCK N ROLL !!

David Lee Roth never sounded better

  • @johndennerrocks never sounded any drunker lol

  • Too much talk Dave, but he played some good acoustic guitar. I always thought Eddy did that part.

  • man you don't feed that fixback lol way too funny

    hahagagamamadadatataa..................

  • @racecar06 I was getting ready to make the same comment haha!

  • perfect song! perfect band!

  • 1:40 "is anyone here on drugs tonight?" yeah dave- you are

  • the start of that solo was ridiculously shit

  • eddie vanhalen has been playing guitar for 44 years and buiding his own for 35 + years its very unlikly david lee tought the true alltime guitar master anything.

  • i van halen sono i miei idolii!!

  • Monitor Engineer part 2; He pooped his pants. The porta potty's far from the stage. Dave has no clue that his engineer is gone. "A little more feedback Johnny...a little more feedback". Dave is quite wasted. "Gimme some treble here". Sorry Dave...

  • Monitor Engineer part 1; sound man who controls the sound of all the speakers on stage aimed at the artists in order for the performers to hear themselves onstage.

Van Halen's monitor engineer is getting verbal abuse from dave because of his accoustic guitar feeding back. Dave doesn't know his monitor engineer is not at his post. He, and almost everyone else on the road crew had consumed major amounts of cocaine and alcohol prior to this set. He thought he had to fart...but he was wrong!

  • Comment removed

  • A "monitor" is a wedge shaped speaker enclosure facing backwards towards the band. Van Halen has 26 of them onstage at this show. Van Halen's monitor engineer mixes the sound for the bandmembers onstage. Alex has a complete concert sound system behind him. He's deaf.

  • Comment removed

  • I use them too. An acoustic guitar will feed back if you crank it up in front of a monitor. The frequency feeding back is 250hz....low mid.

  • you do if you are a pro band

  • Dave taught Ed most of what he knows and Ed got jealous, kicking David out

  • @Adnoydal you are are kidding right? i realy hope so

  • LOL!!

  • @Adnoydal ur so stupid i bet u think that strippers like u 2

  • this has gt to have one of the coolest solos ever. I mean it combines every technique pretty much and 3:23 just is some lightning fast stuff....amazing. thats all that can be said :)

  • cept for sweeping of alternate picking... dont see him doing that too much really

  • There's nothing bad about this song, it's all spot on.

  • i jizzed a little at 3:22

  • This is badass. Long Live Van Halen!

  • Van Halen ROCKED THE SHiT OUT OF THEM!!!!!!

3 day festival, VH closed out metal day, day 2, which had scorps, triumph, the crue etc.

  • they were payed 1700 a min for 90 min show the crowd topped at 600000

  • bleep you

  • Awesome... the BEST post ever of my absolute fave, Ice Cream Man!! Thank you. Well done. PEACE

  • Eddie = God

  • eddie = great guitarist

  • There's a guy who I keep arguing that disagrees... "crazy van halen solo" is the video, where this guy keeps telling me Ed's talentless.

  • I noticed these days people go out to show off (image thing), back then they went out without a care in the world just to party and forget.

  • He was an asshole in real life believe me

  • is there anybody stoned here this evening? *big cheer*

    haha. awesome

  • van halen concerts n the 80's were big parties. just you and 20,000 obliviously smashed friends having fun,to be honest i think dave was the most coherent person at those concerts!

i wouldn't trade those moments(what little i remember of them) for anything in the world.

  • i know exactly what you mean

i was at mayhem festival yesterday and it was the funnest day of my life cuz i was non stop just smokin it up with people and enjoying all the bands at the same time!

  • is 3:52 a part from eeruption?

  • It's just a classical lick that Eddie always uses. It's actually pretty easy to play.

  • 3:23 is just fuckin ridiculous. eddie van halen is the greatest guitarist who ever lived without question

  • no such thing buddy. hes one of the greats but there is no THE GREATEST EVER. To many different styles to compare.

  • this is what it's all about!

  • Can somebody write down the first jokes Roth tells as I cannot understand them all..

    thanks.

    wmd

  • roth is the king long live the king!!!!!!

  • roth was that band and they never were the same with out the king!!!

  • Wrong. They all made the band, that's why it's called a band. One person doesn't make a band. Contributes? Sure. Make it? No.

  • you deserve to die a fiery fiery death my enemy

  • He sounds drunk as hell

  • no question

  • this video is like the first video on youtube

  • no just an old bootleg

  • he's fuckin wasted

  • He talks like a wasted macho man randy savage

  • Is anybody stoned??

    HELL YEAH

  • I woke up stoned man. GOod night last night, I'm STILL fucked up man

  • It's too bad Dave had LSD problems...that's Lead Singer Disease for those of you that dont know...lol.

  • go listen to your sammy hagar van halen crap

  • AWESOME

  • drunken ramblins saved by Eddie's guitar!

  • dave is the MAN...

  • yea thay are fckin amazing

  • I wasnt sure who van halen was untill the day i moved from my house and i was helpping my dad clean his garage and we took down his radio and in it was a van halen tape! the next day i popped it in and the first song i heard was this one after that i was in love there music is just so great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • this solo is one of the best Eddie Van Halen solos

  • true that

  • love that song.

  • Don't make the mistake of assuming that David Lee Roth is either bumbling or a fool. His showmanship and instincts played a HUGE part in the success of Van Halen - there's no doubt that Eddie Van Halen is a guitar god, but guitar gods do not great bands make.

  • Fuck yourself with a chainsaw, sheep.

  • I scream, you scream ,we all scream for EVH!!!

  • I LOVE THIS AND I LOVE ICE CREAM!!!!!!

  • Geez, I'm a religious person, and I LOVE Van Halen. LOL

  • go dos good i love rock and rolll though hope god forgives us for indulging

  • GREAT!!! I think when dave talks about feedback he is hearing some others world feedback hahaha..

  • Simply the greatest of all time. EVH.

  • Two things made me happy as a kid. 1. The Ice cream truck. 2. This solo!

  • this band does and plays it all.

there will never be another van halen the greatest rock n roll band of alltime!!!

  • ive had a few drinks so i'm going to the pub in abou
