They died at a relatively young age and before reaching 65.. The conflicts in that region has roots in division of USSR when various ethnic groups suddenly where independent states. They fought several wars in the 90s. Russia was mediating the conflict for many years and was working with Georgina government to settle hostilities between South Ossetia, Abhazia and Georgia. Georgian idiot president by launching a war against South Ossetia killing hundreds forced the issue. Russia just saved people of South Ossetia. No hegemony. Independence.

Russia intervened to save civilians and own troops who were being murdered. Every International investigation into that war concluded that Georgian troops launched the aggression.
