"we cant predict with any certainty what's happening to our own climatic future" -stephen schneider
"you could melt the ice caps, what would that do to our coastal cities?"
-stephen schneider
"a change in climate means a redistribution of where the rain is, where the growing seasons are."
-stephen schneider.
these are rational scientific statements. the rest was just media hype from the 70's. also, this video does not attempt to understand schneider's change in opinion, which is critical
3:12 What an idiot. He's like one of those loonies you used to see wandering the streets wearing a sandwich board saying 'The End is Nigh'. Still, he's certainly made a good living for himself all these years - following in the tradition of the witch doctors and scare mongering profiteers throughout history.
@MMGWsceptic loonie? he was a scientist and he spoke of relative probabilities. He also fortold the future by speculating that sea level rise would cause mass migrations and cause economic and social upheaval. And the reason he withdrew permission from having his interview published with this particular media outlet is because it's sensationalist and typically takes things out of context for its own idealogical agenda.
Dude - watch the video - in the 70's we see him scaremongering about a coming ice age. Then from the 90's onwards we see him making the same irrational alarmist claims about global warming.
Just before he died recently he helped publish a paper which attempted denigrate and black-list scientists sceptical of catastrophic man-made global warming.
In his life Schneider did more than almost anyone to discredit man-made global warming alarmism. He will be sorely missed by sceptics.
