I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not trying to get you riled up, or stop you from believing in anything. I have no problem with belief systems - I was raised a believer. I simply find it ignorant not to acknowledge the accomplishments of science. Science is something that becomes accepted because of its basis in tangible fact. Many people who believe are still perfectly capable of accepting science along with that. I just find religion at the cost of science silly.

Not really the case. There is many a way to interpret the relevant documents to Christianity. We're only human after all - just because we interpret it in the way that seems like it could be the only way to us, that doesn't make us right. That is one of the reasons that are so many sects of the various religions.

then the ability to compound said things into cohesive thought, i.e:knowledge
there are people who believe in nothing but science, people who only beleive in what can be proven to them via their 5 senses
to these people, science is a religion
where as there are also people who combine what they learn by their senses and experience, together with what the believe

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not trying to get you riled up, or stop you from believing in anything. I have no problem with belief systems - I was raised a believer. I simply find it ignorant not to acknowledge the accomplishments of science. Science is something that becomes accepted because of its basis in tangible fact. Many people who believe are still perfectly capable of accepting science along with that. I just find religion at the cost of science silly.

I find dating in science silly, I agree that anything modern is fact that doesn't have to deal with history. But that doesn't stop the fact that science is a religion as well because it is belief in the findings of their instruments.

Right, you clearly haven't researched much science at all. If you had, you would either believe very little (or none) of it - regardless of whether it dealt with history or not - or most (all) of it. The whole idea of the technique is based upon some fundamental physical principles.
What's your definition of religion? Religion is based upon faith. Science is based upon proof. If anything isn't proven in science, it's theory. In religion - well, it's true anyway, of course. It's based on faith.

I have a quote if you will, it doesn't really do anything to the convo but it is an interesting quote, Justice holmes, "Science makes major contributions to minor needs, religion, however small its successes, is at least at work on the things that matter most." Though the quote does help that we may be in anarchy if we did not have religion.

y would i not believe any? my car runs, I get to work and school on time. religion uuuused to be all based on faith but there was a kind of gold rush for signs from the bible some time ago where many archeologists, (a branch of science mind u) discovered things proving points in the bible. And in science one new discovery can completely alter a "scientific fact."

finally, my definition of religion: 1) a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. 2.) a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects (science greatly falls in this category) 3) something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience (science also falls into this category.)

Not really the case. There is many a way to interpret the relevant documents to Christianity. We're only human after all - just because we interpret it in the way that seems like it could be the only way to us, that doesn't make us right. That is one of the reasons that are so many sects of the various religions.

Actually its considered a fact and a theory. You are considered a crackpot in the scientific community if you don't believe in Evolution. You can still believe in God and believe in evolution, dumdum. Why couldn't God set evolution in motion TO CREATE us? That show's your ignorance. Its up to us atheists to proof god doesn't exist? Why not? Religion is really interesting. Belief doesn't fulfill people. There's ALOT of ppl who are perfect not believing in anything. No. could we make an explosion that could wipeout a city? No. Its fact. backed up by evidence. But I'm not saying christianity isn't possible. I have know reason to believe.

i'm not talking bout dynamics science, I'm talkin historical science. no one has been alive long enough to know what the different layers of the earth really mean. Science hasn't been around long enough to prove without a doubt the age of the earth nor can how long ago certain events happened. Science is only a couple thousand years old. Religion has been around since before time. Strangely a lot of different civilizations also had similar beliefs even though they never met.

Yes, science is young (not as young as you believe, though - More like 6000~ years). Are you age-discriminative? :P It should also be noted that Religion can't have been around since before time. Religion is how humans interact with their gods - doesn't exist w/o humans, which can't exist pre-time. Isn't the Christian belief that the world is approx. 6000 years old? In which case, if you believe that, your relevant religion dates just under 2000 years.
