If you look at an old Santa Fe RR route map, you'll see that the 3 cities are on 2 separate divisions. Also, look at a road atlas too.Voice Over expert extraordinaire,Mel Blanc used these 3 towns names because of how there syllables sounded when he was trying to re-create and exaggerate the sound of the train dispatcher's voice in L.A. Union Station.
Actually, at that time, there would have been very few passengers going to either placde (Azusa and Cucamonga) because they were so far out in the desert. Anaheim's main attraction was San Anita Racetrack. The studio audience was hep to the gagline so they laughed, and when the audience at home heard the laugh, they joined in, not realizing what was so frunny. In reality, you couldn't get there from here.
@TheFrontrowkid You must not live in Southern California, 'cause you have no idea what you're talking about. Santa Anita is in Arcadia, just west of Azusa. Truth is, fewer people were traveling through Anaheim because that was the line used primarily for freight, whereas the line through Azusa and Cucamonga was primarily passenger due to the grade and surroundings between Los Angeles and Pasadena. Furthermore, you don't hit desert until Cajon Pass, north of San Bernardino.
I've always wondered. Was there ever a train line in Southern California that left from Track Five and tied all these places together? It would have to depart from San Diego or Capistrano heading North and then head East to reach Rancho Cuchamunga. Any Train Geeks out there? One of my favorite WB lines.

At 0:16 that kind of gives away that the show is ending considering that Porky is waving bye when he usually ends the show!

Excellent question. Back in the day Santa Fe offered passenger service between Azusa and Cucamonga but Anaheim was not on that particular line.
