What I enjoy about the show: the satire, no impartiality to either candidate (that I can pick up on, anyway)
What I dislike about the show: Nuffin.
What I would change: Hmmm... I enjoy the show mostly, but a few improvements could be made: hearing about third party candidates (I mean, a 30 second segment on the sillier ones would suffice), and, if at all possible, making the show a little longer. (That's a selfish desire, though. :)
Like about the Show: Entertaining, witty, political satire, and political fairness.
Dislike about the show: Not enough material covered; the show could be a little longer.
What you could change about the Show: Could have more material, could focus more on the candidates for the election, and could use more coverage on our congress and senate.
2-3) Your video's are ony really covering the day to day happenings and twists of political campaigns. So what I would suggest to you is to talk about the issues. People that truly love politics (or so I would hope) are those who are invested and enthralled with the issues. Arousing passion for politics within a younger crowd is thus tied, in my opinion, to an understanding and involvement with the issues at hand.
1) I LOVE your final lines, I think they're great. I love how your shows are short and snappy and full of energy.
2) I don't really hate anything about the show... sorry!
3) Don't make the shows longer, nothing worse than a YouTube video that drags, rather, maybe you could have more than one show a day...extra one doesn't have to be too professional, could be a vlog like on EmergencyCheese.
2) When you try too hard to be funny and quirky in your delivery. Hint: If you think of something funny when you read a news story, it's probably funny. If you have to strain to come up with something quirky or funny to say, don't use it. Just tell the news story.
3) Pick a wider variety each day. Overall, you're very versatile, but it's odd to pick sometimes two stories involving the same politician, when I know there's better stuff.
I love the show. It is extremely timely information and the humor and random quips is very entertaining. Keep up the excellent work. I don't particularly dislike anything. I wouldn't mind changing the background a little more. I miss the pencil puppets, although the photo box is more versatile.
I used to be interested in what you had to say but I agree, it seems you try to hard to be quirky and it is really just annoying after a while. I'm out late.
1) I like your type of humor. I feel like you've gotten even better since you first began.
2) I use to have slight issue with the flashiness of playbooktv, and that it was a bit distracting. I don't notice it anymore, so either you've developed a personality to outshine the flashiness, or I've just gotten used to it.
3)Even if it was a minute longer, even if it was just intro filler space, then it wouldn't feel like it just ended as soon as it begun.
1) I love that the show is humerous and you have a great personality.
2) Two things. The show is too short and there is usually only one show a day.
3) Three things. More international stories; there are many, many headlines internationally that are worth mentioning. Make each show longer to go into depth on each story, but break down each topic into separate videos; thus making several short videos per day. Last, more interviews and collaboration with other political pundits.
1) Your personality is great. I think we all get the impression that you are 100% yourself on video. We like that; it is refreshing.
2) It seems that humor has taken up too much of the video time. Over-the-top silliness works with YouTube sometimes, but you have proved yourself beyond that now. I think you are ready to take the next step in being more informative.
3) I would like to see you give the kind of critical analysis to current events that you gave to YouTube campaign videos.
To be honest James, the channel has started to kinda suck in my opinion. I've been watching you for a long time. It seems like you used to be informative / made interesting points, but lately it seems like you just make not that funny, somewhat stupid jokes and dropped whatever serious informative nature you used to have. Not that I don't enjoy the sense of humor, but it's just taken on a certain level of stupidity to me.
My favorite part of your stuff is your sense of humor and that you deal with a subject that is often very negative, yet make it light and fun- I get enough of the depressing stuff from the news.
I really can't say I'd want you to change anything. You never get in a rut and do the same thing over and over- there's always something new after a while. It's constantly evolving which is good!
I very much enjoy your humor, but lately I've been disappointed because you've been more one sided in your stories. Anti-McCain and pro-Obama. While I am a liberal, I enjoyed you more when you made fun of everyone.
I think you're a cockhead that wouldn't like this comment very much. Why am I subscribed? You're pretty constant and on the same level with every video you make. I don't think I've enjoyed anything you've had to say since after you first have shown attraction to the candidates I enjoyed. Bye James.
1. I actually enjoy the fact that it's short and witty. Perfect for youtube and a little break. Anything longer 2-3 min then it becomes a task in itself- I don't like that.
2. can't think of any. even your singing is fine (in small amount).
3. How about more extra episode with guest appearances? I do miss Ron Paul interview in dorm room.
1. I love the fact that it is witty. As a hill staffer, I look foward to watching something amusing during the down time at work.
2. I don't like the fact that it is so short. I know that you call it "the daily hit," but since your show is about two minutes long, you only get to talk about one or two things per show. Meanwhile, there is still so many more funny things in Washington to make fun of every day.
3. I would love it if your producers increased the length of your show.
3) I'd like more in-depth analysis. A lot of the issues warrent more debate than a quick quip in a two-minute video. If there was some way to extend the show a bit longer (or have another show) to give a more in-depth look at a story, that'd be great.
1. you're making politics fun and cool to young people, like it should always have been. Plus, I dont feel like i am the only political junkie around anymore.
2. sometimes you take the whole show on one very abstract theme and "international" viewers like me tend to get lost.
1. love--the pop culture and political references; they're witty and make the show more interesting
2. hate--it was hard for me to really give a good answer, because there's not really anything I hate, but jamming three or four pieces of news into a few minutes makes everything seem disjointed, so I guess I don't like the fact that the show is a little superficial in terms of content
3. change--maybe make it longer, a bit more in-depth, and with more commentary
1.I like your wit and pop culture references. I think it helps reach out to those who aren't politically savvy. It helps keep their attention.2.I don't like when you sing. No offense, man. It's not that you have a bad voice I just don't think it's your strong point.3.While I dig the humor, I think it would really strengthen your show if you did have a more serious portion. You went to a good school so show off your brain. Help those who aren't politically savvy understand the hard stuff.
But I fear you may get too big too fast. You need to REPRESENT THE GENERATIONAL SHIFT. If the older generations get pissy... tell them top go watch CABLE.
THE MILLINEALS NEED to be TAPPED START TAPPING!!!!
I enjoy the overall format-- funny, to the point, informative... yada yada yada
Would like to see more interaction with the rest of the Politico staff and perhaps the occasional interview.
Finally, you always harped on how youtube was supposed to be soooo interactive on your EC account. Yet, you don't reply to comments all that often or really respond to your audience in general. I think a bonus "best of" comments/vid replies on monday or friday would be interesting.
1) I LOVE THE SHOW! I especially like the random, funny graphics that are flashed up when you say certain things. I LOVE feeling up-to-date on politics.
2) I do not like how we have to wait all weekend to get a new show. I'm needy.
3) I would cover more topics, rather than limiting yourself to 3. Why can't the vids be a little longer? Also, more guests -- I don't care who, just some interaction once in a while.
Basically I like what I see, and I want more of it, haha.
i like that you make it funny and witty without being biased - kind of "insult everybody equally" - but you aren't so insulting that people take the negativity seriously (or they shouldn't) rather than take from it political awareness, like i do. it keeps me up to date on things I wouldn't otherwise pay attention to.
I sometimes like the predictability, the format and how you start and end, but i don't think i little more variety would kill you every now and then. :) you're awesome!
1. I like the fact that is is short, about 2 minutes long, which is really all you need, and the fact that its daily, as well as the comedy thrown into it.
2. Their really isn't anything I don't like about it, accept the name change, it sounds too self-centered.
3. Have it renamed to PlaybookTV, because isn't that the channel's name?
1. of course the quirky twists on modern day politics while still attacking and supporting each candidate. Its also nice when you over analyze a scenario or quote :D. Oh yeah, the songs are pretty sweet too.
Oh, another thing. Your videos hosted on politico has an advertisement at the start. I don't have a problem with that, its just that it never changes! If I see that kid one more time.... If you could talk to the people that put it up or something, get a rotation going, that would be great! I probably wouldn't watch it on youtube, but on politico instead. Kind of random, but I had to get that off my chest, heheh.
James the show is great. It's concise, "fair and balanced", production value is good, and frankly i rely on you for my daily political news and like the format you currently have. I'd like to see you get out of the "studio" more. Would it be possible for you to interact with some of the people at Politico? You're in the nerve center of one of the most well connected hubs for political journalism, so why not use that more?
Joking aside, I never really watched it much until today. It's high energy and witty, but seems to lack the interactivity that makes YouTube more than just TV. Your videos aren't responding to anyone else's, you don't appear to reply to comments and don't you think it's about time for a cameo by McMillan or some other YouTuber? WHATTHEBUCK does the celebrity version very similar to your political show but it has been much more successful because of his community interaction.

Love: Your stories are informative, usually pretty unbiased, and humorous
Hate: Too short. Some days you only have one story.
Change: Where did the interviews/guests go? I'd get those back. Also, I agree with lengthening it and adding more in-depth analysis.
duhrealmaster 3 years ago
What I love: The humor is very tightly scripted and that makes it as snappy as a good Colbert segment.
What I hate: It's too short!
Change: We want more! Make it 5 minutes instead of 3. Add in a couple video clips to lampoon the way John Stewart does, that should make it longer.

you should have more news that we didn't already hear about on the mainstream channels

Love the show. In fact, when you don't post one till late in the afternoon, I get all angry and break stuff. But, that's not your question.
1. I enjoy the humor and light heartedness (is that a word?)
2. No interviews ever with anyone.
3. You need more running jokes. Something I could laugh at every 4 posts or so.

I would definately like a little more things that are off topic of the politics such as jokes, and other things

1. It's not too serious or boring!
2. You saying "Monday" too enthusiastically..?
3. Not sure...

1. Love the conciseness of the show.
2. Hate the iMovie music during the show.
3. Wish you would move on from the "slash nothing" part at the end and just say the website. ;D

It's too short. You need to talk about more than just the presidential race.
