I think this is what the scattergun should have originally looked like. I like the idea of the game having a lever action shotgun for the scout but the original double barreled drum fed model doesn't make any sense if you think about the mechanics of how it chambers and stores ammunition.

I've looked through the polycount and facepunch emporium threads a little and was surprised to find that no-one thought what I did. I.E. It looks too much like the Pyro/Heavy/Engineer shotgun, both in v and w_models. I think that if you muck around with the colours and proportions a little, it could look more like a scattergun replacement, rather than a shotgun skin.

Still, despite this it looks very promising and I have to say that the ruger looks incredible.

@DN94 Problem is, Valve seem to like weapons to be noticeably different. The silhouette of this would (I imagine) be near identical to the shotgun and players might (perhaps subconsciously) assume it works in the same way, or that it isn't for the scout.

If I were you, I'd try adding a frayed end, a sight, or something similar. Try imagining how its kill icon will look and working to distinguish it from the default shotguns.

How would someone assume it works like the shotgun? They picked the scout didn't they? So they must know the difference. And forget the shotgun shell holders? It's really not that hard to tell the difference to the shotgun because it's a lever rifle, shell holders, it's a lever rifle?!?!?!? And you say valve like having their weapons looking difference but natasha doesn't look much different to the minigun apart from its belt and darker colours.

@DN94 Just saying, if it looks like it, people are going to assume it works like it. One of the major design principles throughout Valve's games is silhouettes. It's got to be noticeable at a distance that this is a very different weapon and should be approached differently. I'll admit that Natascha/Sasha is a poor example of this, the models are nearly the same, but they do have noticeably different colour schemes. Brown foregrip aside, this looks nigh on identical to the shotgun.

Please don't take my constructive criticism as an attempt to dishearten you, I think this stands a good chance for Polycount or failing that, the submission page. I'd also be very happy to have this released as a model replacement and it's clearly had a lot of effort put into it to produce something so good.
