I suppose. I have just met thousands of countless Americans who because they have a dead ancestor that came from Ireland they think that gives them the right to call themselves Irish. When other than partying on St. Patrick's day, they have no interest in Irish culture or happenings.

i completely agree. My Irish dates back from the 17th century and I wish i could call myself more Irish. I competed in the Fleadh ceoil, am an Irish dancer, know the music, history, and culture and with all that i wish i could call myself irish. People consider themselves Irish and know nothing of the language culture and the suffering that the Irish went through just to get where they are today
