Pearl Jam did an admirable job of covering this, but in the end this is the only version that gives me true goosebumps. This song just makes my mind wander when I listen to it.
@SlaughterDog It's partly from the record jacket of "Quadrophenia" which is a rock opera released in the 70's loosely based on the young lives of the Who and it includes the music of R&B artists of the early/mid sixties which were favored.

We inter into a phase where we dare not venture with words alone in case we might blemish the ultimate excellence, the perfection created by these Gods of music.
The Who, Pete Townsend, Roger Daltry, Keith ..well all of the iconic people of that time have definitely left their mark in the music world with out any shadow of doubt They were instrumental in more ways than one....smiles....in influencing the direction that music took for the UK and the world. Tommy was another great milestone in placing these Gods on the map of British music. They were and still are Brilliant and will remain so for years to come.
Better musicians than The Stones or The Beatles, more entertaining and exciting performers, and Pete Townsend consistently wrote better music for a longer period of time. Keith Moon was brilliant because he was a manic depressive, or maybe he was manic depressive because he was so fucking brilliant.

Seriously, I always liked The Who from the songs I heard on the radio. Like I said, I'm only a teenager, so I've only been around classic rock for about that long. Then I decided to listen to Tommy, which I knew about, but had never listened to. Of course, I fucking loved it and officially declared this as my favorite band. Red777p;hoto, I saw where some one said God is Love and then you rant on them and tell them to piss off., I have to tell you, there are places on the net for that type of hate as well. Nothing is being pushed down your throat. Are you being tied to a chair and hot irons put to you? If you believe in free speech, it is his right to say God is love. Get over your hate for anything that has to do with anything Christian and honestly compare your life to a Christians and tell me the difference

Wow, this is a really good song, and this comes from someone that isn't a fan of The Who, ummm, it may sound dumb, but can anyone reccomend any song, I don't know much about The Who

@edgarchpa well , this one is my favourite....but I'd also suggest "won't get fooled again" and "baba o'reilly"

In this song Pete is talking about his generation and that was real to him at the time. To us rest, that is just a wonderland.
