The Beatles and the Stones sought out pubs where they knew Daltrey and Townsend were performing that night..I saw the Who at the "Boston Gaahden" several yrs back..Pretenders opened,Ringo's son was their drummer, Daltrey was hitting all the notes and sang in the key original song were recorded in. And...He didn't whop Townsend in the head as he perpetually swung his corded mike...
