People do not listen to me: I TOLD you GM has the capability of making good cars (including interior), but they choose not to put them into production, at least not on a large scale. They try to save money so they put cheap interior and suspension in their cars. Sadly, that was a bad choice, because no one likes them and then they lose out to the competition that does put in good interior and suspension. Now they're learning though, the hard way. They're improving though, like we see in CTS-V.
I don't care if it has a gas engine 4 cylinder or electric, this car looks stunning I would buy one today if they made it exactly like this style but they won't sadly
meh. the back could look less sporty and whats with the huge tailights? I know its a concept but it doesnt make sense for the market. Its an electric with petrol backup? Its better to have it as a hybrid as the batteries will last a hell of a lot longer instead of charging and discharging them under load like that and THEN using the petrol to bail out the electric. Another one of GM's evasive maneuvers to not release full electric and continue research into nimh batteries which has stagnated.
the car runs solely on the battery for 40 miles, then if you havent plugged it in, the gas engine kicks in, not to power the wheels like in a hybrid, but to charge the batteries. the same concept as in top gears Geoff, but much better, it is a electric car with a generator on board
yeah well its the same thing I explained earlier. Once the battery exhausted, the petrol motor powers the car essentially by charging the batteries. I will further reenforce my argument about hybrid being a better system. With the 'backup' petrol engine design, the electric motor has to power the weight of the car plus the redundant petrol engine and petrol. With hybrid, it uses both electric and petrol engines in harmony and 'plug in' hybrids are also an option for electric only travel.
but most people would never need to put petrol in, as thier daily commute would be less than 40 miles a day. further, on electric power alone, it costs 1/ 6 th of the price of petrol per mile. plus, the electric motor has all of its available torque at 0 rpm, and since thats what puts objects into motion, the aditional weight of the petrol generator would barely be noticable. its mucch more efficient than a hybrid for most people
yeah don't get me wrong, I'm all for electric only city commutes. I think its a great idea especially if nuclear power is utilised now that it is super safe. I actually participate in electric car conversions and builds and I deal with getting maximum efficiency out of electric drivetrains. I have rebuilt some prius hybrids to get excellent efficiency in hybrid mode. Although the petrol motor doesn't kick in as often as factory standard hence the further reduced fuel consumption.
and the petrol engine in a hybrid kicks in at any kind of speed, reducing economy. i say, get a v8, get up to 120 mph, stick it in nuetral, turn off the engine and coast down. then, fire it back up, floor it again and repeat
@yoitsyourdawg911 the engine never "charges" the battery, it simply powers a generator which uses the power to directly turn the wheels, power never goes into the battery and never uses a drop of extra fuel to recharge. when the initial 40 miles is up, it cant go back into full electric mode until it is plugged in again
I thought the same thing sort of, when I first saw this car. I was like,"Is that a Lamborghini Cadillac"? Do the doors open vertical like a lambos? This car deserves RWD, or AWD, and a Turbo 6, or a nice Northstar v8(preferably from the CTS-V).
it looks great but i highly doubt it will actually come into market soon since GM is strapped for cash and it seems for now more of a publicity stunt than a reality
Being a women , I can only imagine a very long elcctric cord plugged into an outlet at your house like in the garage or something. How do electric cars work. What do you plug it into. Does it recharge itsself. How?
Thanks to whoever can explain this. I am 62 What do I know!
looks badass, but dont think it'll sound badass....

hahaha. I used to do that in my v6 when I was still in university and was strapped for cash. hahaha
I got bored of it very quickly though.

then skip the bit about slowing down, see when you get bored of THAT!
EatmyDust1311 2 years ago
@EatmyDust1311 YES IT IS. it only uses a gas powered engine to charge a battery.

the back of the car from a side point of view kinda resembles a lamborghini....
Maserati555 2 years ago 3
I think its more fair to say the Lamborghini Reventon resembles this... Cadillac designed their cars this way FIRST - starting with the CIEN.
The Cadillac CTS Coupe- with a V series...for its price, would put Gallardo to shame and be a poor man's Reventon.

ill agree to that one-
