@mrfunderful i was seriously pouring a little beer in a small lid for the chickens, but i thought against it after hearing how dangerous soda is for them...
just think how it would look with 5 drunk hens stumbling around...
I'm just finding out how many people hace pet chickens! My uncle handed me a rooster in a bag one day and said I could do what I liked with it. We named him Buckey and he's my buddy. I think he has tourettes, crows all the time. He roosts on a chair back in the livingroom at night. I carry him snuggled in my bathrobe when I have to out ouside at night. That way I'm safe...you know. LOL
Not exactly, but kind of. He had a litter pan behind the chair and he was trained that while he was in the house he was supposed to stay there. In the morning he sat and crowed at 7:30 untill someone got up and when he saw them he'd hop down and run to the back door to be let out. He did his very best, I'll give him that!
I own pet chickens that i dearly love and still eat chicken. I kiss my chickens, and pet them regularly, lots of cuddles, and i have never got salmonella, even though chickens do naturally carry it. So most people arent that worried.
Right. I do not eat any of my chickens; nor do i abuse them. They are all quite fat, actually, and would probably be nice for eating but it will never happen.
hmmm...it seems you want to eat them, but dont want to because you feel oligated to care for them. What would happen if you never had any food in the house?
No, i dont want to eat them. I dont feel obligated to care for them; i could easily have bought them, set them loose in my yard, and not given them a safe, protecting coop, fresh high-quality food and treats everyday. I do it because i love them, and have a bond with them. I would take the eggs that they lay eat them, then sell the extra for food; it really is a moot point, anyhow; others in my family raise cows for food, and we have a garden.....
I'm a vegeterian because I have chickens... and because I'm a total animal rights freak. I love all mychickens. They'rs such awesome pets to have. Except when you have cayotes around.
my chicken couldn't stand carbonated drinks, they freaked her out. loved dairy products though, acutally the only things she wouldn't eat were spicey things, citrius fruits and pop...
becarful! if you give him/her to much, itll explode from the stomache

Carbonated beverages are very dangrous for chickens. I fear for her safety if you give her any more.
showbrd 2 years ago 2
@showbrd Not really, its just that they either throw up instead of burping, or just fart after a while. They can't burp well, and farts are silent!

I don't think that birds can pass gas, so giving them anything carbonated is probably not a great idea! LOL

Are you still able to eat chicken? Also do you have to worry about salmonella poisoning from sharing drinks with it?
