I am totally shocked.Sure,he is a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR and narcissistic ....BUT...he killed 2 people, his parents...This guy would kill anyone that is on his way to get something. It's a pity that the life of his parents costed him only 5,5 years.I would give him capital punishment,a lethal injection for sure,as I think he is a threat for society, nobody would know what da hell is going on in this monster's head.Everything he told on the tape seemed soo LAME and FAKE!
this guy is like 5 year old he doesnt understand the meaning of death it was his parents fault too how they raised him ,he cannot understand reality. He never tryed to hide his crime, mayb he was convinced in his mind that his parents were on holliday.Ithink his parents gave him everything but they stole his life ,they must have had problems too
Unbelievable. 5 years? Our Western laws need to be changed drastically. This man should never be released. He is so highly manipulative that he will always be dangerous. He has no inner moral conscience. This is a socio-path....extremely dangerous. They don't change inside...deep inside the inner mind. They only learn to hide their ugly thoughts and behavior.
I'm not buying that he didn't do this out of his own will, No way. I don't believe one bit that he wouldn't be a threat to the public if he is released.
Appears to me that anyone can get away with 'murder'. There are just too many mental ailments you can fein to get the charges lessened to manslaughter and therefore spend a rather nice little holiday in jail with all expenses paid. I really think the legal system needs a bloody good kick up the a*se in regards to a lot of this 'tish- tosh' nonsense in some of these cases. He is nothing but a cold blooded MUR-DER-ER in my eyes!
@tallirasha I know, it surprises me that people whose job is to assess people with mental abnormalities are so bad at it even compared to non-"experts". He does not HAVE a psychiatric disorder, he IS evil.
Narcisism is a disorder. I've read about it TONS... However it should never excuse a person from facing appropriate punishment for such a crime. The narcisists know right from wrong very well. My soon to be ex husband also has it and on one occasion tried to suffocate me to death for discovering and exposing his affair. I called the cops. Narcisism is a short end of psychopathy. My ex was in between Narc and Psychopathy.
hahaha ow my god he had even manipulated the psychiatrist of being mentally insane, ow my god, the stupidity of psychiatrist, dumb a*holes, HE WAS A PSYCHOPATH you dumb bastards. Really get mad at those dumb psychiatrist
@lolitastorm he won't necessarily get parole after five years, he can only apply for it and if you heard at the end they actually say that it is very unlikely....
This guy deserves to spend two life sentence. I dont belive with the diganose they gave him and let him off light. He commited murder.he was selfish and greed. He knew right from wrong. He has no remorse what so ever he left his parents body like nothing. I hope he rots. Only god can judge him. May his parents rest in peace.
His parents weren't to blame. He was born a psychopath and will always be one. There is no cure. He will always be dangerous. I hope they keep him locked up for a long long time.
Many parents seem to think that they are 'sacred' because they've given the 'gift of life', and expect automatic love from their offspring, no matter how they treat them. Parents also bleat on about the 'innocence' of babies/children. A lot of comments here are calling this kid 'evil' for killing his parents. So which is it? Was it the parents fault, or was he born evil... meaning all these 'innocence of children' cliches are bullshit, and some babies are evil?
@MissRandomwriter Parents shouldn't expect automatic love from children if they didn't do anything that deserves the love. But the thing is many parents do, they do love their kids and provide for them. Sometimes they say wrong things, spoil them a bit, lose their patience etc. and isn't perfect, but that doesn't give the kids free reign. a kid is still a person should be liable for their own actions.
@MissRandomwriter I don't believe anyone is born evil, but the ideology of genetic predetermination is pushed from the highest levels because it has great utility for the Powers That Be. Narcissism is an intergenerational disorder. His parents mapped out his entire life without any care for his own wants and needs and he conformed perfectly to their wishes, their obedient dancing monkey - a victim of what Alice Miller called narcissistic abuse - until the day he snapped.
@roell29 His parents did nothing out of the ordinary, they just had high expectations for him to do well in education and in society. That is extremely common; and I don't know if you believe in souls but if you do then it's not that difficult to comprehend the idea of someone being born evil.
@ShadowSwan1981 I don't believe anyone is born evil. It may be that some are born with a karmic debt or burden, but supposing he were - why then did he meet his parents' expectations to a tee all the way through into young adulthood, achieving perfect scores academically, before suddenly and tragically acting out violently in the course of a single night? All part of his evil plan? I believe the defense of narcissistic personality disorder in this case was entirely justified.
@roell29 While this may seem ignorant and dismissive depending on how you look at it, I do believe that some individuals are simply born evil because their soul is on the side of evil. If you look at the expression in his eyes in every single picture there is just something missing from them. I noticed this in every picture, and from this I think it is fair to say that while the murder was not planned, it was bound to happen sooner or later and the story does not begin on that night, (continued)
@roell29 (Continued), but has been the final culmination of his obsession with the fantasy life and the need to keep up a world fabricated by lies. The main thing about psychopaths is that they cannot feel love, hate, remorse, or fear and will therefore stop at literally nothing to get whatever they want. To Brian, the murder of his own parents was nothing but pushing an obstacle out of the way to maintain his fantasy life of endless wealth. As for the perfect grades thing, (continued)
@roell29 almost all psychopaths not only feel the need to, but also enjoy, working to create an image of themselves as a perfect/ideal person. For example, Paul Bernardo, a serial rapist and torturer, acted this way ever since childhood. Doing well in school does not mean someone is a good person or that they do not have psychological problems. With any careful observation, you would know this was not a matter of being suddenly consumed with rage on one night. He knew very consciously what he
@ShadowSwan1981 Well, I don't think there is any comparison with Bernardo who was a stone cold predator. BB did not plan to and could not possibly have imagined he would get away with this crime. He used the credit cards of his freshly murdered parents to pay for the expensive trip he took with Amal. This is smoking gun evidence pointing directly to him and I believe, as did one of the investigators, that he must have assumed he would be arrested immediately upon his return...
...A psychopath would have arranged his parents' deaths so their wealth could be inherited free and clear. BB was a narcissist and a fantasist, not a psychopath. The elaborate lies he told Amal were intended soully for the purpose of gaining her admiration and respect, since underlying NPD is a profound sense of worthlessness. He raided his own college fund to buy her a car - not the actions of a psychopath which are characterized by pure selfishness, but the pathetic yearnings of one..
...who believes he is not worthy of love. His parents preferred that he associate only with people of their own age group, discouraging friendships with his own peers (bizarre). In addition, they accepted for him read medicine at Nottingham, rather than the school he hoped to attend with Amal. They had mapped his whole life out for him with little to no regard for his own wishes. No doubt there was much more disfunction with regard to their treatment of him that wasn't mentioned...
@roell29 Even if he was a narcissist that doesn't mean he should be able to do whatever he wants with no consequences. Everyone already knows he has some form of severe psychological problem, whether it be narcissism or psychopathy, but no one without a psychological problem would do what he did, so there is no point in making this an excuse for his actions. Furthermore, there are a lot of strict parents who have unreasonably high expectations for their children, but these children are still...
@roell29 mentally healthy and live normal, happy lives. The assumption that his strict upbringing and high expectations caused him to viciously murder his parents with no remorse whatsoever, and leave their bodies to rot for months afterward, just does not add up. If that was the reason there would be way more cases like this. Besides, no person is perfect, whether child, adolescent, or adult, so no matter who it was one would be able to find more or less something wrong their parents did.
@ShadowSwan1981 The attempt to understand underlying psychological forces that motivate extreme behavior does not equate to excusing it. With greater understanding comes compassion and, hopefully, positive change in society leading to the prevention of such behavior in the future.Yes, NPD is probably the most common psychological ailment within Western society, particularly afflicting a high proportion of "successful" people, the great majority of whom remain law abiding...
...citizens, swallowing their misery while leading lives of "quiet desperation" - following a path they never chose but was chosen for them to satisfy the needs of their parents instead of their own. It's epidemic, and the epidemic degrees of unhappiness, unfullfilment, feelings of emptiness and high rates suicide in Western society are closely related. Behind every case of NPD is a tragedy involving the loss of the true self. What is narcissism? Every child needs a mirror to reflect...
...back to them a positive image which they can then internalize, thereby creating a reservoir of self-esteem upon which they can draw for the rest of their lives. But the narcissist, having been deprived of parental mirroring him/herself, instead uses her own child to provide the mirroring that she never had. The child, now deprived in the same manner as the parent, will be forever seeking his/her *own* positive reflection in the eyes of others and thus the disorder perpetuates...
...intergenerationally. It's a kind of psychic vampirism - the parents taking from the children instead of providing that which they themselves were deprived of and don't know how to give. BB was extreme both in the extent to which he succeeded in narcissitically gratifying his parents through his extraordinary academic achievement and in his eventual reaction against their narcissism. While he committed a terrible crime, it is also an opportunity to understand a disorder which...
...poisons the lives of millions who suffer their pain quietly. I'm not really trying to convince you personally of my point of view. I realize we will probably have to agree to disagree, but I feel very strongly about these issues. Alice Miller's book "The Drama of the Gifted Child" touches profoundly on this subject.
@roell29 You actually bring up a reasonable point, and I respect and admire that you hold so strongly to your beliefs. I do not know/have not experienced the same things as you, so I am not really sure what to believe. However, I completely agree with your statement, "Moral issues are typically complex and dominated by shades of grey." The process of psycho-analyzing why a person does certain things is almost never fully accurate because humans are far too complex to be categorized in such a way
@roell29 and I think it is not unreasonable to say that many of those affected by psychological illnesses have a combination of at least two different categories. However, some things still cannot be answered. Many parents also have high expectations for their children, oftentimes crossing the line. And as I said before, no parent is perfect, so why are there not many more cases like Brian's? People have been known to react in completely different ways even when growing up in the same...
@roell29 circumstances and having the same things taught to them (knowingly or unknowingly). From the expression in Brian's eyes and smile you can see he is not merely a troubled child deprived of a positive self-image. There is something profoundly evil and unfeeling about the energy expressed from his eyes. Also, Paul Bernardo grew up under very negative and depraved circumstances. I do not mean to attack your point of view or assume you are wrong, but I just want to know why you think he...
@ShadowSwan1981 and Brian Blackwell are completely different. From what I gather, you could say they both grew up under abnormal and negative circumstances, which had such a profoundly harmful impact on their mind and psyche that they resorted to committing heinous crimes. Also, what Bernardo went through was much worse than Brian's experiences. In conclusion, I agree that we live in a very complicated world which cannot and should not be pushed into a mold of the black-and-white mindset...
@roell29 however in the case of some individuals I am having trouble finding sufficient evidence that they are victims of negative experiences and not simply born evil.
@ShadowSwan1981 There is scientific research and evidence that there are certain chromosomes and DNA that some ppl have that causes them to do evil, become serial killers. These ppl are allowed to breed more, to spread their DNA. I think that once they commit a horrific crime to others, that they should be sterilized, so they cannot hurt their own children or bring more of this evil Chromosome into our world. We have enough evil. It must be stopped.
@saharra22469 Wow, I love what you just said because it is so true! While I find it hard to believe or wrap my head around the theory that chromosomal abnormalities can cause things like this, I have no doubt there is something in them that can be passed on to others. Evil is a pandemic and must be eliminated just as the Spanish Influenza, H1N1, or HIV/AIDS.
@roell29 I also thought of Alice Miller's writing when I watched this story, which makes me see it as tragic, rather than the expression of inherent evil. When spending time around babies and very young children, i just find it hard to ever think that a person is born evil. However, I believe that babies do have different temperaments, which need to be nurtured in different ways. One person might survive a certain upbringing and suffer and become a "normal" adult, while others suffer and break.
@blacksmartie Did I say I blamed the parents? Moral issues are typically complex and dominated by shades of grey. Only the simple-minded divide them all up conveniently into black and white so as to avoid taxing their limited brainpower, "blacksmartie".
@MissRandomwriter I think so, some babies are evil simply because we live in a world built on balance of opposites. The balance of good and evil, yin and yang, male and female. It's very well possible he was born evil, I personally think so.
His mom and dad were very controlling of his emotions from when he was a child he never got to grow up. What mom bathes there son when hes aged 17/18 in the bath. He tried to regain his life back but in a mentally unstable way. Its his parents fault go study it.
@MrP1hoban that's not an excuse for murder, no parent is perfect and just because a parent makes a mistake with raising their kids doesn't mean its their fault they got murdered.
@FlameltaSK0 Today you get murdered with or without a mistake. Besides....with psychiatry the way it is.....the child is ALWAYS abused or neglected or did not get enough toys ... or got too many....or wasn't disciplined enough....thereby having complete justification in rushing into the world and beginning murder as a hobby (boredom??) Psychiatry is not really a science....it's an anomoly lol
Ohhh he was white so he just had a disorder- as i expected . The is a fucking joke. I am sorry but AGAIN if this kid was black EVERYONE would have believed that he was capable of this disgucting crime. He would ahve been called an animal and a monster; he would have gone to prison and they would have thrown away the key.
This is fucking ridiculous....it really is a white world isn't it?
@Amorphustruth: If this kid was black more than likely this would of never happened because most black families would have nipped this shit in the bud IMMEDIATELY.
Those below are a list of factors that contribute to the disorder 'NPD' You can sort of understand how he got this disorder,as he was decribed as 'a perfect son' and brainy, but to be honest I just find this a total mistake and trying to put reson to actions, when he has non. What an idiot.
Overindulgence and overvaluation by parents,Severe emotional abuse in childhood,Unpredictable or unreliable caregiving from parents,Valued by parents as a means to regulate their own self-esteem,An oversensitive temperament at birth is the main symptomatic chronic form,Being praised for perceived exceptional looks or abilities by adults,Excessive admiration that is never balanced with realistic feedback,Excessive praise for good behaviors or excessive criticism for poor behaviors in childhood.
thts injustice to his parents for giving him such a light sentencing... they died a horrific death.. Isn't it easy for him to blame on his disease? that's fine , they didn't have to charge him for first degree murder fearing prosecutor might lose, but he should be given MAXIMUM punishement for manslaughter 20 years?
This was clearly a case of a kid who kept building his lies one on top the other and he only thought of how to get out of THIS one, he didn't think long term or he'd have realized that it was all going to come to a terrible ending. I mean, I don't understand what he thought was going to happen when he returned from his luxury trip! Was he hoping he could just explain it all away and move on to lying about his tennis career? What a fucking dolt, what a monster - to do that to your parents.
He obviously had mental issues. This wasn't JUST about him wanting money. He had a whole detailed fantasy life that he had created for himself and had been living for years. He went through ridiculous measures to keep this fantasy going. Don't get me wrong... this kid is a total monster but I agree with the psychologists... the monster had mental issues that contributed to his horrific crime.
only in europe , in the states thats the death penalty - fucker playing tennis off the backwall of the house with his parents rotting bodies inside , there no rehabilitation for this kid , he will do again for sure - probably to his yellow tooth wife and his shiteating limy kids when they find out daddy is really a bus driver out on parole not a prince of of that old bag of shit queen elizabeth -
@butterball1234abcd Cough Casey cough Anthony cough. What I mean to say is, breaches in justice happen in every country, but yes that crazy fuckup should be dead and in Hell where he came from.
sociopath....no, a NARCISSIST....holy crap, we all know people who are narcissistic....I think it's normal to have SOME narcissistic traits , but not to the extreme!........ OH Yeah , I also cannot believe everyone blaming the girlfriend(in the comments on here, through the episodes)...that's much more nutty than Brian.
Shouldn't it be about punishment too? It seems like they are saying u only go to prison as long as your a danger to society and for rehab. I understand that that may be part of it but it should mainly be about being punished for what you did.
Idiotic doctors, brian HAS narcissitic personality disorder but I would class him more as a "Psychopath"
All psychopaths are narcissists, but not all narcissists are psychopaths.
NPD is not part of Diminished Responsibility - Brian knew full well what he was doing, and it was premeditated , he was of sound clear mind at the time ,
Blimey! TWO brutal murders and he will be relased in 5 yrs. OMG everything now is a fucking excuse....I was abused when i was a kid or I have depression or was neglected or I have NPD - for gods sake - he is a cold blooded MURDERER. is there no justice for his parents? I cant imagine those poor parents - how they changed his shity nappy or breast fed the little shit - only to be repaid like this. Hope he burns in hell

UK is one of the most racist and stupid countries on the planet - its fact that if he was not white he would be in jail. Only 6 years and parole that's UK for you hahaha!
I cannot believe that NPD is allowed as a defense. That is absolutely insane. In other words, if you are selfish and manipulative, and you lie a lot, go to England and you can kill people and get away with it. Freaking unbelievable.
I looked the case up in the internet and everywhere I find, that he has got a lifetime sentence. A sentence much more appropiate, than letting this sociopathic monster out after a ridiculous 5 years again, that he can find other victims and possibly kill them again....
Narcissistic personality disorder. I f'in hate that. You mean an evil self-centered SOB? So now he gets parole after 5 years, why, because he is 'mentally ill'? This makes me so angry I have to stop watching. On to the next episode!
I am speechless! What sort of justice system allows a double murderer the possibility of parole after 5 or 6 years? Obviously the UK system. That's disgusting. Of course he will be a model prisoner and deceive psychologists as he deceived his parents and his girlfriend. I don't care how good he is in prison or how young he is. Brian deserves to rot in prison just like he left his parents' bodies to rot while he galavanted half way around the world, spending his parents' hard-earned money.
Your seriously trying to tell me that nobody has ever conned a medical professional??? I THINK NOT!!!
He was a deluded spoilt brat that was crap at tennis who resented authority and probably has a small dick into the bargain! A very cold and calculating killer that should never be released!
TOO MUCH LIBERALISM IN THIS PATHETIC COUNTRY IM SAD TO SAY!!!
His girlfriend is nothing more than a money grabbing scatter brain!
@hearts76100 Again ,where did I write that NOBODY has ever conned a medical professional? I said it is possible tat he does have a disorder. Obviously it was a terrible crime. But again, point to where I said that NOBODY HAS EVER conned a medical professional. I'm waiting...
he should of got life and never perole. that is insane 5 years ,,they really need to change the law ..no wonder killing someone now adays is so easy ..they get away with it slap on the hand ..should be like china ypou kil you get shot in the head, and no tax payer is paying the bill to keep them ,that will put crime down
terrible. first time where as horrible as sounds crime did pay despite being caught. should be 25yrs min. little public school wanker obv shit at tennis.
wtf? If there was ever a time when the death penalty is needed, it will be on this moron of a brat. How can he spend only 5-6 years in jail? I thought for sure he would get 2 life sentences at least. Justice has not been served because he basically got away with murder. The justice system is fucked up big time.
How can you enjoy with girlfriend after killing your parents? THats sick and he should be hanged till death to setup a example. THis is very lenient punishment and may encourage to do the same.......
@prettypearlysheikh Not really, he had stolen from his parents to sustain his lifestyle and when they found out he killed them. To say he was spoilt casts judjment on his parents.
This is why I have no respect for psychiatry. This sicko is a sociopath and he's going to be released in 5 years to kill again. Next time he'll do it smarter and not get caught. Thanks to morons of psychiatry he will get out. Disgusting...
He "suffers" from Narcissistic Personality Disorder? Um, no. People with NPD make EVERYONE ELSE suffer. What a pansy-ass criminal justice system the UK has. No wonder it's all going to shit. NPD is just another term for "psychopath," and it's not a "disorder" as is something that can be fixed; it's personality TYPE. And personality CANNOT CHANGE. If we went easy on every criminal whom we could diagnose with NPD, our prisons would be EMPTY.
@Bfdidc I'd love to think the same, but scarily, it's not. Self-centered little monster indicates it's bred and encouraged. NPD is IN you. NPD shouldn't equate to "let him off easy" but "oh GOD, put him away!"
@HoneyNVinegar Yeah, I was being a wee-bit flip in my original post. I do recognize NPD as a legitimate disorder, but like you (and unlike the English court in this case) don't see it as exculpatory. A "narcissistic rage" might explain why he was able to murder his parrents, but the fact that he was then able to go on vacation and casually go in and out of the house with their rotting corpses there seems to bespeak a special order of psychopathy. I hope he never gets out.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (as psychiatry like to call it) is simply another manifestation of the basic schizoid state. It seems that he had an excessively over-dominant mother, who had never given him a chance to develop his own personality, and so it's hardly surprising that he began to invent a false persona and fantasy life. He certainly has serious psychological problems, but it's not a medical illness and shouldn't be allowed as an excuse for murder. He knew what he was doing.
Just shows what a nonsense the DSM is, that a murderer's personality problems can be regarded as a MEDICAL disorder, and that a courtroom judge is obliged to accept this as fact, because it's a doctor saying it.
Unbelievable..only 5 to 6 years for killing his kindhearted elderly parents! I am ashamed to live in Europe where the sentences get lower and lower. If he were in Texas he would have been staying in an appropriate 'hotel': Death Row. I don't care if he has a disorder or not. There is no excuse legitimate to kill your own parents, wether they pressure you or not. Just get out of the house if you can't live up to their expectations.
So this guy could be out this year, thats as mad as he is. It wouldn't surprise me with British justice. He is clever and could trick the parole board saying he was young and is now rehabilitated. Hes probably completed a degree in prison as well. I honestly think he could get released and do this again.
There has to be further character measurements to determine whether he can make it in society or not. There is so much we don't know about the story... Like how it is to live as a young child under enormous pressure from parents that could be your grandparents and so on
Ok, let's get serious here. The jurisdictional system acted very maturely to his obvious disorder. I see lot of the comments here obviously made by people who are very limited in thinking (euphemism used here:-)), and have only experiences with alcoholism or drug-use as 'problems' that could lead to murder. .
Proves how messed up Britain has got, not sentenced with murder because of NPD! In the future they'll have a ridiculous personality disorder for everyone! You'll prob be able to get with genocide, knowing our system.
If it was personallity disorder he would randomly go in and out of remorse..it seemed like he was never sorry until he was infront of the fuckin cops and court.
Unreal. He needs to get a bullet to the brain at close range; when he gets out he ll kill again, guaranteed.

MissRandomwriter 1 month ago

His parents mapped out his entire life without any care for his own wants and needs and he conformed perfectly to their wishes, their obedient dancing monkey - a victim of what Alice Miller called narcissistic abuse - until the day he snapped.
roell29 1 month ago 2
@roell29 His parents did nothing out of the ordinary, they just had high expectations for him to do well in education and in society. That is extremely common; and I don't know if you believe in souls but if you do then it's not that difficult to comprehend the idea of someone being born evil.
ShadowSwan1981 3 weeks ago
@ShadowSwan1981 I don't believe anyone is born evil. It may be that some are born with a karmic debt or burden, but supposing he were - why then did he meet his parents' expectations to a tee all the way through into young adulthood, achieving perfect scores academically, before suddenly and tragically acting out violently in the course of a single night? All part of his evil plan? I believe the defense of narcissistic personality disorder in this case was entirely justified.
roell29 3 weeks ago
@roell29 While this may seem ignorant and dismissive depending on how you look at it, I do believe that some individuals are simply born evil because their soul is on the side of evil. If you look at the expression in his eyes in every single picture there is just something missing from them. I noticed this in every picture, and from this I think it is fair to say that while the murder was not planned, it was bound to happen sooner or later and the story does not begin on that night, (continued)
ShadowSwan1981 3 weeks ago
@roell29 (Continued), but has been the final culmination of his obsession with the fantasy life and the need to keep up a world fabricated by lies. The main thing about psychopaths is that they cannot feel love, hate, remorse, or fear and will therefore stop at literally nothing to get whatever they want. To Brian, the murder of his own parents was nothing but pushing an obstacle out of the way to maintain his fantasy life of endless wealth. As for the perfect grades thing, (continued)
ShadowSwan1981 3 weeks ago
@roell29 almost all psychopaths not only feel the need to, but also enjoy, working to create an image of themselves as a perfect/ideal person. For example, Paul Bernardo, a serial rapist and torturer, acted this way ever since childhood. Doing well in school does not mean someone is a good person or that they do not have psychological problems. With any careful observation, you would know this was not a matter of being suddenly consumed with rage on one night. He knew very consciously what he
ShadowSwan1981 3 weeks ago
@roell29 was doing before, during, and after the murder. Therefore, I do not think it is wrong to say that his parents deserve justice.
ShadowSwan1981 3 weeks ago
@ShadowSwan1981 Well, I don't think there is any comparison with Bernardo who was a stone cold predator. BB did not plan to and could not possibly have imagined he would get away with this crime. He used the credit cards of his freshly murdered parents to pay for the expensive trip he took with Amal. This is smoking gun evidence pointing directly to him and I believe, as did one of the investigators, that he must have assumed he would be arrested immediately upon his return...
roell29 3 weeks ago
...A psychopath would have arranged his parents' deaths so their wealth could be inherited free and clear. BB was a narcissist and a fantasist, not a psychopath. The elaborate lies he told Amal were intended soully for the purpose of gaining her admiration and respect, since underlying NPD is a profound sense of worthlessness. He raided his own college fund to buy her a car - not the actions of a psychopath which are characterized by pure selfishness, but the pathetic yearnings of one..
roell29 3 weeks ago
...who believes he is not worthy of love. No doubt there was much more disfunction with regard to their treatment of him that wasn't mentioned...

...Of course this doesn't justify murder. There is much more I'd like to say but this is getting too long.
roell29 3 weeks ago

ShadowSwan1981 3 weeks ago
@ShadowSwan1981 The attempt to understand underlying psychological forces that motivate extreme behavior does not equate to excusing it. roell29 3 weeks ago
@roell29 You actually bring up a reasonable point, and I respect and admire that you hold so strongly to your beliefs. I do not know/have not experienced the same things as you, so I am not really sure what to believe. However, I completely agree with your statement, "Moral issues are typically complex and dominated by shades of grey." The process of psycho-analyzing why a person does certain things is almost never fully accurate because humans are far too complex to be categorized in such a way
ShadowSwan1981 3 weeks ago
@roell29 and I think it is not unreasonable to say that many of those affected by psychological illnesses have a combination of at least two different categories. However, some things still cannot be answered. Many parents also have high expectations for their children, oftentimes crossing the line. And as I said before, no parent is perfect, so why are there not many more cases like Brian's? People have been known to react in completely different ways even when growing up in the same...

I do not mean to attack your point of view or assume you are wrong, but I just want to know why you think he...
ShadowSwan1981 2 weeks ago
@ShadowSwan1981 and Brian Blackwell are completely different. From what I gather, you could say they both grew up under abnormal and negative circumstances, which had such a profoundly harmful impact on their mind and psyche that they resorted to committing heinous crimes. Also, what Bernardo went through was much worse than Brian's experiences. In conclusion, I agree that we live in a very complicated world which cannot and should not be pushed into a mold of the black-and-white mindset...
ShadowSwan1981 2 weeks ago
@roell29 however in the case of some individuals I am having trouble finding sufficient evidence that they are victims of negative experiences and not simply born evil.
ShadowSwan1981 2 weeks ago
@ShadowSwan1981 There is scientific research and evidence that there are certain chromosomes and DNA that some ppl have that causes them to do evil, become serial killers. These ppl are allowed to breed more, to spread their DNA. I think that once they commit a horrific crime to others, that they should be sterilized, so they cannot hurt their own children or bring more of this evil Chromosome into our world. We have enough evil. It must be stopped.
saharra22469 2 weeks ago
@saharra22469 Wow, I love what you just said because it is so true! While I find it hard to believe or wrap my head around the theory that chromosomal abnormalities can cause things like this, I have no doubt there is something in them that can be passed on to others. Evil is a pandemic and must be eliminated just as the Spanish Influenza, H1N1, or HIV/AIDS.
ShadowSwan1981 2 weeks ago
@ShadowSwan1981 Thanks for the compliment. I will reply within a few days (bit busy and the moment).

@roell29 :-) I really do find it inspirational that you hold so strongly to your beliefs.
ShadowSwan1981 2 weeks ago
@roell29 I also thought of Alice Miller's writing when I watched this story, which makes me see it as tragic, rather than the expression of inherent evil. When spending time around babies and very young children, i just find it hard to ever think that a person is born evil. However, I believe that babies do have different temperaments, which need to be nurtured in different ways. One person might survive a certain upbringing and suffer and become a "normal" adult, while others suffer and break.
sabinerey 3 days ago
@roell29 Wait... Are you actually blaming his parents? Unbelievable.
blacksmartie 3 weeks ago
@blacksmartie Did I say I blamed the parents? Moral issues are typically complex and dominated by shades of grey. Only the simple-minded divide them all up conveniently into black and white so as to avoid taxing their limited brainpower, "blacksmartie".
roell29 3 weeks ago
@MissRandomwriter I think so, some babies are evil simply because we live in a world built on balance of opposites. The balance of good and evil, yin and yang, male and female. It's very well possible he was born evil, I personally think so.

HoneyNVinegar 6 months ago

Isisbridge 11 months ago
Just shows what a nonsense the DSM is, that a murderer's personality problems can be regarded as a MEDICAL disorder, and that a courtroom judge is obliged to accept this as fact, because it's a doctor saying it.

@Toby136 What also scares me is that he was interested in pursuing medicine... Imagine him as your doctor... Yikes!
