@PaulaSofiaRamos You need to check out the full clip with the two back to back songs "Tristan/Sanvean". The transition between the two makes it even better.
Yeah, that moment when she closes her eyes... She is really "going somewhere else". ...And bringing back something beautiful and amazing to share with us.
Our inner holy being is closed inside our material body. That being is connected to everything. We are all conneted,we are everything.God is everything, and so we,and everything else is God(and not a bearded old guy in the sky). When the time comes we will all ascend to unitiy again and truly be free, our soul, our spirit will be free. Her voice touches this imprisoned inner being in us and for a moment,it gives us a small taste of freedom that every soul yearns for.All knowledge is within us.Open toit
I always felt like a total freak for having an idioglossia (my own language) until I heard Lisa Gerrard. Now I realise it's a gift, and something to be treasured. I just wish I had such an incredible voice too! Lisa Gerrard = out of this world. When we get to heaven I bet it sounds like this or allegri's miserere mei. Much love!
Agradecer a Deus por dar condiçoes de me dar audição e ter o previlégio de poder ouvir esta voz simplesmente de outro mundo....maravilhosamente perfeito.
@omalmi it is like that... it bids exaltation to the epitome of each moment as the sloughs the music from her soul. In this beautiful passage we feel it like we feel our lives. As brief as a song, as infinite as each moment. More powerful than any evil could possess, it shakes you physically.
Yes, Dead can dance the only musical band worth listening to..Fuck all the mainstream shit with no talent and no brain no real meaning in their music.
This song and her voices make me feel so melancholic and for me express in an unique way all the sorrow that a soul could experience, but in a weird way a pleasant sorrow
You all are stupid. Dead Can Dance wrote this song. Lisa Gerrard wrote it. Then performed it. So Sarah Brightman covered the song. And the Dead Can Dance version is 100 times better because it is the original and Lisa Gerrard has a set of pipes...
both sarah and lisa's versions are excellent two different perspectives of the same song a contralto and a soprano... i wish they coould sing this together
i just luv DCD, it doesnt matter which song, they r all BRILLIANT, shame i never got to see them live. DCD 4ever. my favourite will always be the wind that shakes the barley. give birth to my little lad with that song.
blame digital compression, I have a cd of this recording and when I made an mp3 it did the same thing. the acoustic dynamics are too broad for a low res reproduction to capture. beutiful song anyways.
Oh, wow. Totally disagree with the "fleshy prison" comment. The total opposite. And what places could be more beautiful than Holy Nature? Her music enhances my everyday life and appreciation for Nature.
nie wiem jak opisac kraine w ktora uciekam razem z nia....za kazdym razem gdy buduje przedemna swoj most z nut dzieki ktoremu moge uciec tak daleko, zostawiajac za soba codziennosc...
I bicycled through a small valley in Scotland. Most mystical/rooted place I've been (and I've seen a lot). This unsung song was being in my head. Must return. Thanks.
Actually the tune makes me sleepy. It's not a bad thing though. Ethereal music just makes me sleepy... But I have pleasant dreams so they work like a lullaby. :)
I LOVE dead can dance. I've spent more time listening to their music in the last 10 years than any other artist. BUT their interviews are so pretentious, self-obsessed, and hyperbolic I can only stare at the floor..I wish they would release a DVD of only concert footage.
It quite amazing that Lisa's singing is no known language. And I love what she says in her interview about "how people are desperately trying to find a way of releasing themselves from this fleshy prison & they turn to you when they see you escaping mementarily & ask how did you get out?" My gosh, those words are so beautiful & true for me. ♥♥
Another composer/singer who makes up her own language(s) is Yoko Kanno / Gabriela Robin. She (Kanno) doesn't make a great fuss about the philosophy of that approach, though: basically, she uses vocals as instruments, discarding the meaning of the lyrics, but retaining phonetic textures that are typically French, Latin, Bulgarian, etc. The result is a set of unintelligible but very different languages, rather than a single language as in Lisa's case.

Her voice, her presentation, her emotion- all exquisite. I just lost my sister in June. An unavoidable death - too young. Sanvean is an expression of the emotions you feel at such a loss.
Don't want to seem depressing but I have told my wife I want this song played at my funeral service. I think this song is close to God in its delivery and beauty.
Maybe there is something about Ear size and big guys with DCD. 1st time i heard DCD was as a tiny preteen , it was very moving ,but i resisted the urge to go 'Brotha Lynch Hung' at school or home, it was hard but maybe I'm too small at 5'9 =D
sounds like a very spiritual puirt a bheul to me... rather sweet and captivating... reminds me a little of the cocteau twins... i used to like them, way back when...
She is so good, she sounds bad when you don't see her live. My parents got to see them live and my Dad kept saying how her voice was so unbelievably breath taking.

Oh, but we who belong to God are merely sojourners on this earth. We have been promised our true home. This is how the Christian martyrs were able to go to their
horrifying deaths singing and praising God.
I myself was just released from hospital after

you all find the narrow way that leads to
everlasting, perfect life.
