  • Hmm...a therapy that waves something rhythmically back-and-forth in front of your eyes and has you relax. All that is missing is "you are getting sleeeeepy." Problem is, hypnotism is DANGEROUS. It is very easy for therapists to implant memories when someone is that relaxed and focused. Many of these videos have the therapist saying "and then I had this idea of changing their memory" Bad idea. SCARY idea. Try reading "Making Monsters" by R. Ofshe and E. Watters sometime.

  • why is this so underground no one talks about it...if it does cure all this stuff it would be advertised it would be everywhere like all the pills etc. This may work for some people..But i'm willing to bet it don't for most i'll cast a spell on you through you eye movement laughable play some xbox 360 for a while seems the same to me as that i do seem to feel better after playing it but it don't last long...

  • I learned a lot from watching this video; thank you very much! :)

  • Hi Like your video, jump by to my channel.

  • Is it safe to self use an EMDR program? without a therapist? What's the therapists' role in EMDR therapy that is a MUST or will fail in therapy session? cause i have the program for EMDR, its a square that moves back and forth with bilateral sound. How i approach the therapy is that...I jus visualize my negative past events, or merely my negative symptoms, and focus on them really hard while following da square back & forth. Is it safe of me to continue doing this? without a therapist present?

  • @SoyySauceeBoii EMDR won't work unless you have a therapist present. For some reason, it just won't work and you may be causing more harm than anything by trying by yourself, or it could be just harmless. It's odd and I don't think they can explain it but without a therapist just doesn't work. Odd eh?

  • Cheekyleopard, Thanks for responding. That makes sense!

  • @KeelyBrookeT No probs. :-)

  • Also i havent a clue how this technique would work unless it was a result of releasing emotional trauma.

Probably just some confidence trick therapy, like a placebo effect. Pretty expensive for that tho! Much like most modern day therapy - focusing on thoughts to change feellings.

  • Sorry posted twice by accident.

  • Emdr is all about stimulating the Corpus Callosum to help transfer 'stuck' emotional trauma.

Racetams do this as a fraction of the cost, and are 10000 times more effective.

  • @cheekyleopard What is a "Racetam'? How is it better than EMDR? I've been looking at EMDR, NLP Hypnosis, and other forms of psychotherapy. Please elaborate.

  • @edthewave

    Hey there.

EMDR stimulates the corpus callosum to encourage integration of memories.

Piracetam does exactually the same thing. I suffered multiple (over years) trauma as a child, and have found choline/piracetam extremely effective.

With piracetam your not paying a fortune or relying on anyone else - just need to have coping mechanisms to deal with what comes up.

    Regards.

  • @edthewave

There are 4 racetams - Piracetam, Aniracetam, oxiracetam and Pramiracetam.

Piracetam is extremely safe and legal to use. Its totally none toxic and is a super-connecter in the brain.

For someone like me who had ALOT of respressed trauma it was like dynamite.

I also have EMDR programs, and have had EMDR administered to me by qualified professionals - Piracetam/choline is FAR more effective.

Choline is needed to supplement the piracetam to make it effective.

    Regards.

  • Ah, Good old Dr. Paul. As reliable as he is on target.

  • Come on guys! You think just moving your eyes side to side is the whole purpose and the whole effectiveness of EMDR? You are so wrong. To tell you the truth when you think about it we move our eyes every day of our lives and is that getting you anywhere? Thats what I thought. He even explaines why it works. If you dont know why then watch the video again. If you do then good. Plus why the fuck would this guy be lying? Hes a psychotherapist for a living. All he wants to do is do good for people.

  • @modestas23

Why would this guy be lying??

    Hes waffling.

Also...... crap like this is over-complicated for a reason, so therapists can make money.

In the UK a T earns a damn good wage - £40-£50 an hour.

Alot are in it for the money.

In fact.... when im better i might learn the same crap, and do the same courses.... so i can peddle crap therapy and buy myself a brand new BMW.

  • Its pretty simple. Its repressed memories that hold the belief. Process the memory, then you are pretty much a blank page again. It works, but as usual they over-complicate it all. You dont even need a Therapist to do this. Its not magic, its a simple way of kick-starting a very normal process in the mind. During trauma memories get stuck. In my experience eye movement is no more effective than touch or sound - its all good. In fact all 3 at the same time is better. This guy is waffling.

  • Walking is easy, but If this is so easy, why isn't everyone practicing this technique? I think there is a little bit more to it?

  • Because physcotherapy is still in the dark ages believing that repressed memories dont exist and they are (as freud said) repressed sexual desires. Also the drug companies what to carry on making a fortune selling drugs that are totally in-effective.

  • I so agree with you, I am a therapist by trade, but there is too much waffle and over complication.

  • Im glad you agree ;-)

I just HATE all this new-age waffle talk. All so people can make it more complicated so YOU NEED THEM because its seems so deep, when it isnt.

  • Just to add:-

For people recovering traumatic memories consider taking Racetams and Choline. These increase communication between the two hemispheres and by-pass the defense mechanism of the ego - much like EMDR attempts to do. But with chemicals its far more effective but obviously slightly more dangerous.

Dont bother with drugs perscribed by Shrinks as they all supress and dis-connect.

  • make sure you are trained if you are planning on experimenting with this technique alone. For instance, during the weekend 1 training I completed, I cannot perform the EMDR on such a person with chemical addictions....otherwise, I do them more harm than good and the substance addiction worsens. Please DO NOT TRY this technique without a trained professional.....or else!

  • @emmacosby1

    Dont agree, lol.

I have had severe dissociation and PTSD from childhood abuse.

Theres no way im being held back from a 'mental health professional' that knows less about the mind than myself.

    Been there, done that.

  • @cheekyleopard What do you mean? You mean that no one knows more about your mind than you know about yourself and your own mind?

  • @KeelyBrookeT

Hi Keely - yeah that was my experience. Its as if the answers have come to me at exactually the right time, and it wouldnt of worked with someone else prizing them out of me.

  • The speaker is very good. What is his name?

  • The guy on the left is Dr. Paul, the guy on the right is David DeAngelo.

    R.

  • EMDR is absolutely helpful

I did an EMDR therapy because I was traumatized by my past (cruel parents, mobbing at school, bad experiences with girls, etc).

Doing EMDR helped me change my defective believes (I am weak, ugly, helpless, etc) to positive believes (I am handsome, I can take care of me, etc).

    People, it really helps.

  • yes

  • well... yeah... its not about eye movements, though I guess from someone who hasn't tried it could confuse that. Its about the event being concentrated on and how the mind processes that event.

  • If you don't try it, I can absolutely guarantee my life on it that you are missing out on pure magic.

  • 100% guaranteed.

  • absolutely.

  • It helped me with my panic attacks

  • Do you believe that EMDR is only a process of directing a client's eye movements? Nothing else, just eye movement?

  • Left-Right Brain Stimulation To Trigger Memories.

This allows memories to be called up faster than just talking alone, so that the therapist can help the patient purge the pain associated with them.

  • Nobody is saying that eye movements alone reduce the symptoms of PTSD. Other forms of bilateral stimulation are also affective. And it is not just the bilateral stimulation that is part of the EMDR protocol. Please check out the protocol of EMDR if you want to have an informed debate.

  • There are many peer reviewed studies. Here in the UK EMDR is the treatment of choice of the NHS for certain conditions, because of the amount of scientific evidence. In fact it is mostly CBT therapists that are using it because it adds a significant difference to their practice. The top psychiatrists and clinical psychologists dealing with PTSD in the UK, particularly at the Maudsley Hospital use it. You clearly are closed to this frm of therapy. That's is your loss.

  • Excellent teaching style---helpful, informative, and inspiring.

  • Dear Ragulator! Please try once EMDR... It is more than CBT...
