I updated my nexus s 4G to ics and after the update the only difference I can tell between the phones is the screen. That's the only real noticeable difference.
Just to clear it up for you who don't understand, the Nexus phones are a series of phones made by different companies that are made to run a major new version of Android with no customization added by anyone. There are 3 phones out now that are part of the Nexus series Nexus One, Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus.
Nory826 - I'm considering getting the galaxy nexus. I would appreciate your thoughts on this phone especially about battery life. I thing your view as a day to day user would be more useful.
If you got a day on the NS you didn't use it heavily. The end. I was plugged in by 1 or 2pm under typical use. and yes, my usage was heavy. A full day, that's funny.
@pigs3littleones Different people can have different experiences you know...based on my definition of heavy, which is constant web browsing/social networking/email I managed to get through a full day. 9 am - 10 pm.
@AppReviewa Yep, you are correct. My response was knee jerk. Frankly so I'm tired of the which ROM is better for battery life and what can get through a day, I tend to rebel against that discussion. But apologies if I was kurt. I've had 6 android devices, from the G1 to now the TMobile GS2. Never got through a day that i considered heavy. That with conditioning, task killers etc... Typically I'm plugged in by lunch with "my" heavy use but definitions do vary. Point taken.
good to see a comparison that focuses on the hardware rather than the software (which will soon be the same across devices). thanks dude!
btw, the gpu is the same, but it is clocked significantly higher. so it will NOT be the same experience with gaming. it is faster, just not as great as it could have been :)
I've had my galaxy nexus for a couple days now and I have to say this is absolutely the best Android handset ive ever owned or seen. Most everything is great, but I wish the battery was a little better. But its still my first week with the phone so I'm hoping it gets better over time. Nice review by the way!
GPU does have difference!! Nexus S has 200mhz while Galaxy Nexus supposed to have 384mhz but its underclocked to 307mhz cuz the CPU is also underclocked from 1.5ghz to 1.2ghz since both CPU and GPU is 20% underclocked
Very informative overview, thanks. But 1,5GB of ram? Come on. As for the phones, SGS2 may be faster in every way, but I'd take Galaxy Nexus every day - mainly due to the screen (real estate + resolution) and hardware ready for ICS (no dedicated android keys). I wonder though how do apps with no software menu button work on Galaxy Nexus. Can you help me out?
@megamastah Hi ! There is a menu button that appears once apps are loaded, it is a small 3 Dot array. Annoyingly though, you never know the location of it since different apps move it around.
@AppReviewa That's exactly the kind of information most users are looking for: everyday pros and con, ergonomics, overall hardware and software experience. I don't care about device specification taken straight from data sheet or exact number of new touchwiz wallpapers. Stay healthy ;)

When my nexus s gets the ICS update, will I lose all my media stuff and apps?
lionstar2222 3 weeks ago
@lionstar2222 No. I did a more dangerous manual update and I still have every single thing with me today. So, you need not worry.

Ermm What's the different between Galaxy Nexus S & Galaxy Nexus ?
Nishairi 2 months ago
@Nishairi It's Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. There is a whole different phone called the Samsung Galaxy S but thats different. OK so
NS=single core 1ghz humminbird processor
GN=dual core 1.2ghz TI Omap processor
NS=4 inch super amoled screen 480x800 resolution
GN=4.65 inch super amoled HD screen 720x1280 resolution
NS=GSM or WiMax
GN=LTE or HSPDA+ GSM and CDMA(basically 4g and 3g)
that pretty much covers it....

Bad battery life? I couldn't live with a phone with worse battery life than what I already ah

A pentile arrangement has to do with the arrangement of the pixels not the number of pixels.
rashad123us 2 months ago
@rashad123us I meant to say that there were 33% less subpixels, which I incorrectly stated as 'less' pixels. Thanks for the correction
