Thank you! My girlfriend and I've been waiting impatiently for a rented copy of MW3 to come in the mail. When it finally did today, it was scratched to hell and unplayable. Your method did the trick. The one thing that I would suggest is to saturate it with a bit more toothpaste and let it soak for a good long while. We had to try it a few times and it worked best with more toothpaste/time. THIS WORKS. Thanks so much! i was devistated when my wii said "the disc could not be read" on skyward sword. just make sure you use regular tooth paste, not anything with special enamel or whitening plus stuff in it, and it will work.

It works but what wasnt specified was the toothpaste it has to be Non-whitening toothpaste(yes it exists) Whitening toothpaste has a fine grind that will scratch your disk further but a non whitening has no grind(colgate total) and therefore wont scratch your disc

you do not swirl it in circles...it will only DEEPEN the scratch marks.....start from the inside of the disk towards the outside in strokes.....this will work even better..

I've tried it all..Finally I figured out a way to get rid of the scratches on games and cd's.

Use a polish like turtle wax and a buffer on medium speeds for about 30 secs rotating the disk while polishing the cd. Keep checking the cd as you a re buffing it to see how the scratches are doing and you'll notice an immediate difference.

Repeat polishing and buffing if needed, but you should see results rather quickly if you are buffing properly...

Guys, when you do this repair, WAIT FOR A FEW MINUTES (from 5 to 10) before washing. Without waiting it doesn't fix it almost at all. I've repaired Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando disc with this techinque and it works if you do the right method. Repeat, won't work at all if the toothpaste is applied for less than a minute.

I use the Memorex OptiFix Pro, it's like $20 does both repair & cleaning and it actually works. This toothpaste method rarely does anything but make a mess & most toothpaste is NOT abrasive, unless you're using grandpa's 1850's wild west toothpaste w/ horse hair tooth brush! :)
