  • So sorry on my phones keyboard swype I hate when it misspells :-(

  • Oh and rimmel fix and perfect primer has four parabens in it, wet n wild eyeshadow silent treatment has parabens in it and walgreens moisturizing facial lotion sorry I just went through all my products that I just use there is poetically slot more here lol but for now that's what I found in my stuff.

  • I found some stuff that has parabens in them bath and body works lotions have them I'm not sure about all or what else they sell have them, cover girl makeup for sensitive skin has it liquid foundation and powder I'm not sure what all in cowgirl but foundations yes, garnier fructis curl construct mouse has one paraben but the gel and curl gel and bamboo hairspray did not have any.

  • Is this just in the long term though?

  • every thing can cause cancer.. litteral.

  • I saw a report on CNBC that said that all Johnson & Johnson products contain 2 cancer causing agents and Johnson & Johnson said they will begin by taking the chemicals out of their baby products but it will take them 2 years. All of the other products will take them over 5 years.

  • Do you now if the 'Moist' Aussie 3 minute miracle has parabens in it???

  • Please post a retraction video. Parabens have not linked to cancer!

  • You might want to update your research because some of the products you mentioned didnt have parabens in them. they may have changed the formulas but they dont have them. Parabens havent been proven to cause cancer. they have just been found in very few cancer cells and tumors.

  • Those who are telling you not to be as worried about parabens because there are no conclusive studies are just not being realists here. I urge them to remember that that's what tobacco companies used to say... Large, powerful corporations usually (and unfortunately) work with the government to keep things on the DL which benefit them financially but may cause harm to consumers. I personally haven't converted to paraben-free yet, but i think it is a VERY valid concern. Thanks for your video <3

  • @ilovemimes i totally agree on that..it's not because there is no research done it means that parabens are not harmfull

  • My holy grail foundation has so many parabens :( chanel mat lumiere! im so sad ...

  • wow i jst checked a random lotion which is suppose to be natural buh it has one 1 paraben :o

  • Wow thanks for this. I wondered recently when I bought Buxom Lash it said Paraben Free.

  • wow what a great video thanks so much for the info and looking into it....very shocking

  • NOOOO NOT MAC FIX PLUS!!!!

  • I'm about to cry... SO MUCH MAKEUP WITH PARABENS :\

  • "Thank You, Jesus!" lol.... I wish companys would just find a way to stop putting parabens in the products. Only one way they will switch, we have to stop buying products with parabens. :(

    .

  • thanks so much for doing this video, i really appreciate the information. i really had not done a lot of research on parabans but now i am gonna be much more aware and start reading ingredients, thanks again! =+)

  • I'm so happy that you posted this video. It's great that you are spreading the word. I've been using natural products for a very long time and good makeup is hard to find. Thanks god I found a BC company who has great mineral makeup. Keep up the good videos!

  • tarte doesnt have parabens! and i've just started buying there stuff.. thank god mac blushes dont have parabens! so happy about that i have way too many to get rid of! also nars laguna has parabens! i didnt know MUFE hd foundation had it :( i was just about to buy it! that really sucks :(

thanks for the video emily! :)

  • I can't jump in the paraben wagon There have not been conclusive studies on ANYTHING that causes cancer, including Parabens. Everything you use has consequences if you go by that: the pesticides we use for vegetables {unless you grow your own}, water, food, paint, etc. I cannot afford to live scare of everything I use. Just my personal opinion.

  • @vinnymax01 well said!! I agree with you 100% percent

  • ah I had no idea how many products had parabens, thanks for doing this video, scary stuff!

  • Most Lush products contain parabens and sulfates, it's right on their website

  • I avoid parabens, because it should be bad for their reproduction (making babies). Here in Denamrk we have been aware of parabens for many years and we have a lot of products without paraben and perfume. In makeup I can recomment Nilens Jord. There are no parabens and perfume.

  • I have aussie 3 minute miracle with the blue writing (Moisture) and you have the kind with the orange writing (Sydney Smooth). I'm not sure what you found on your bottle, but I read the back of mine and there were no parabens. Perhaps you'll want to cheack out that version? Also, try RenPure organics for paraben-free haircare. I use them a lot and they are free of sulfates, dyes, parabens, DEA, TEA and propylene glycol. They also happen to work very well.

  • @TarynLeigh93 I have the same bottle as you and noticed as you did no parabens! Different type of product so different ingredients slightly is my guess?? I'm not 100% sure on that but at least the Moisture one is a bit better as far as the ingredients and not having parabens in it! :)

  • @TarynLeigh93 i noticed that too, the bottle i have has no parabens in it

  • Ugh...it seems like EVERYTHING in todays world causes cancer....There is like no escaping it....I bet one day they'll start saying breathing air can give you cancer.

  • @NaturallyMe91 They already do if you live in an area with a lot of cars and/or around smokers.

  • So are u gunna pretty much boycott everything in your list?

  • Oh no - finally found my HG foundation & it's Make Up Forever HD :(

Dammit, guess I gotta keep on, keepin on!

  • futher to my previous posts....as a chemist im really interested in this "debate". so dont take any of my comments personal.(be it whoever reading them)...its merely an interest i have.i work with chemicals in a lab everyday and exposed to them.i try to find cures for cancer...but think how can this be helping when we accumulate so much w aste chemicals in the process?its all part and parcel of this world and human life

  • i think its really good product.are we helping ourselves really look better by smearing loads of chemicals on our faces?or are we actually just creating more potential problems in the future such as cancer?thou in saying that we should still wear suncreen ;) its an interesting debate.i think its difficult to erase nasty chemicals...1st place is cars and planes...cylce and walk more.we would have less chemicals just by doing that.(thou this is not personal towards emilie...its an open talk)

  • also there is speculation that "triclosan" found in hand gels, toothpaste is also meant to be dangerous then parabans....its much more effective at "killing bugs".i think anything which has the potential to be herbicide, pesticide, antibacterial..f obviously going to be dangerous to humans over time. in small quantities its fine, but you have to think they put this stuff in so many products...so we become over exposed.just like salt is ok and necessary in small amounts...but excess dangerous

  • its funny you mention MUFE HD Powder and say its "silica". As a chemist, we use silica everyday...however its one which we always get warned about using!! This is because it is a very fine powder and for us, we fear Lung Cancer from breathing in a fine powder (bit like asbestos effects). so i find it bizarre that they sell pure silicia to put on peoples faces? sure its ok in toothpaste as it in paste...but in powder form? that cant be safe to inhale for sure...imo

  • Parabens are preservatives used in nearly every kind of cosmetic. They are put in formulas in small amounts to prevent the growth of disease-causing microbes. Without preservatives, cosmetics would be much more dangerous to use. Parabens have been used in cosmetics for at least twenty years and are quite effective at killing microbes. The FDA believes that, at present, there is no reason for consumers to be concerned about the use of cosmetics containing parabens. - thebeautybrains website

  • Wow omg! So much stuff we use everyday has it! YIKES will definatly be more alert in checking out the labels!

    Great imformative Video :)

  • Do you know if the Norvell self tanning spray you did a review on has parabens in it?

  • Thanks for sharing this,Emilie.

I will definitely be more conscious of this in the future!

I just looked and my HG Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer has 5 different parabens in it..YIKES!!

I'm also shocked about LUSH..I checked my lush shower gels and they have parabens too

I also bought a bunch of stuff at sephora yesterday and every single thing i bought contains parabens :(

  • You should always get your information from at least 3 reputed and reliable sources, not just friends. They're not merely preservatives, they're bactericidal and fungicidal. The concentrations that were found in cancerous tumors were extremely low, not to mention that a case study of 20 tumors is an extremely low number and can't possibly show a wide enough range to be conclusive. Also, there's parabens in stuff like blueberries because parabens are found in nature, not just beauty products.

  • Korres products are all paraben free. Their make up is really nice, except for the foundations which are for Mediterranean skin..and I am so white! I love their paraben free primer! :D

  • I'm not hating on this video by the way its just i don't see the sense in these worries- well i do but as i said there are threats everywhere so i don't want to suddenly cut one believed to be harmful chemical when no doubt i'm going to be using about six other harmful things anyway!! Like my mobile or cell phone :) Love your videos though x

  • in LUSH!!! OMG!

  • Thank You for this video Emilie.

  • Hey Emilie, its a common misconception that Lush is "all" or 100% natural. They use as many natural ingredients as possible and where needed, they use the smallest amount of preservatives possible to allow their products to have a shelf life. If their products were 100% natural they would go bad after a week like food. Lush has the information to back up why they believe in the safety of every ingredient they use. Do some more research before throwing out all of those products you love. x

  • @aprikat01 if you look at the ingredients of lush products, say their shower gel and compare to other shower gels its about 90% the same ingredients. they just add about 10% of natural, "look good" oils to it. i agree they are the way to go. but its true they do have similar base to their products as most other products on the market.they are not so different.at end day, shower gel is shower gel whether its from lush,or other big brand company.

  • @traceycmarshall thanks for your input! i can assure you that lush sources the finest essential oils from all over the world and that they are truly beneficial and not just 'look good' oils. you make a good point that they do have some similar ingredients to other products. as i mentioned, it is a common misconception that they are 100% natural. i'm definitely not trying to say lush is the only good company out there, just trying to clear up misconceptions! x

  • Clinique 3 step system has them ....... damn it

  • Oh my gosh, my Wet'n'Wild.... my Fox in a Box..... Benefit? NOOOOO! I am devastated! Thank my HG Philosophy skincare products don't have parabens!

  • Please do not just jump on the "bad paraben" bandwagon. Definitely do the research, and read around because the paraben issue can really be related to just a scare gone astray.

I highly suggest going to the sink inc website and searching "the truth about parabens" it puts the research and links, and individual truths/concerns to rest. From cosmetics to antiperspirants to even natural fruit and food you consume.

  • @lydiaelaine thank you for speaking some truth- I'm pretty sure there are other things but parabens in make up that are harmful for us. Even mobile phones give out microwaves which can cause cancer....i hate it when these scare stories go around......but i guess it is just a matter of deciding what you want to subject yourself to!! lol x

  • Are you subbed to BeautySavvy? If not, you should be. You will LOVE her.

She just did a paraben video too (she focuses a lot on healthy beauty).

    And SHE.IS.HILAROUSTERICAL.

  • @ShayKinbake The YT font makes it look like Beauty Sawy .... LOL

    She's Beauty S-a-v-v-y

  • definatly take this with a grain of salt, but keep this in mind: parabens can be generated within the body after reduction of specific foods in the stomach and during digestive processes which can be deposited into tissue within the body. Not only that, many fertilizers/herbicides contain chemicals far, far worse than parabens (they can make you unfertile within 2 years of eating them)..it's pretty crazy what is in our food and products.....

  • NO WAY! I can not believe the Hemp lotions has parabens in it. Bummer! I'll be chucking mine. Thanks for the info!

  • if you find this interesting you can look at Breast Cancer fund which has some information about different chemicals to avoid...thou again take with pitch of salt. its difficult to avoid all chemicals.

  • I am trying to stay away from parabens in general but be careful - parabens have not been proven to cause cancer. No studies have been conclusive. It is a connection they are still studying.

  • im shocked by the Lush products too

  • Lol I did the same exact thing as you. Went straight to the bathroom and read all the labels!

  • Do more research!!! Parabens can be good for you!!

  • @amazingyummy2 Eh, I wouldn't go so far to say that they're good for you, but there's no evidence that they're harmful.

  • @misspeaking No a dermatologist on youtube (dermtv) said that parabens can be good for you. Neil Shultz is the dermatologist's name.

  • Hi, I've watched several videos about parabens and researched the Internet a little bit. I totally agree that in an Ideal world we can avoid using all chemicals but it's not really possible... along with parabens, there are so many harmful ingredients: BHA and BHT, Fragrance, Talk, Sodium laureth sulfate, DEA-related ingredients, polyethylene glycol, Propyleyne Glycol and the list goes on and on...... Avoiding one ingredient won't do much

  • I found this video super interesting and thought you may find this info interesting.

paraben is short for parabenzoic acid a naturally occurring acid that the body needs. manufactures change it's make up and its formula sightly so that when bacteria go to feed on it they die. As for it being carcinogenic, there are no evidence to support this and if there were it would have to be advertised on the products. By all means boycott products for your own piece of mind but don't be afraid! xo

  • maybe do a video on things that you did use but stopped and replaced them with something better

  • Thx for the very informative video. I try to stay paraben free but as you mentioned it's hard ;-). My only trouble is that how do we know that the products used to replace parabens aren't even worse for your skin. It's too soon to tell after all, no studies done or anything. The best way to live is probably to stick to natural soap and olive oil but grrrrr JUST IMPOSSIBLE, lol.

  • mineral products do have parabens! i discovered it AFTER i bought laura mercier's primer, foundation and concelear :(

  • Try Burt's Bees Lemon cuticle cream. Very similar to Lemony Flutter and no parabens! Thanks for doing this video, been trying to get rid of my stuff with parabens too. i checked the box of my Chanel Rouge Coco before I threw it away and I don't believe it had parabens in it. So disappointed about NARS though... they are such a high end brand you would think they would invest in something better! Are you concerned about eating parabens or do you already eat organic food?

  • Have you done research on what you are saying?

  • Thank you so much for posting this, Emilie. I'm going to raid my bathroom/make up room tomorrow :/

Better to know than not know! :)

  • Great video! Just wondering what your thoughts are on sulphites? They are different chemicals from parabens, right? Thanks again!

  • Great video! My Yes-to-Cucumbers cleanser is formulated without parabens and it is a drugstore product !

  • "Products w.o parabens: Mac lipsticks ty Jesus" haha that was too funny. Great video!! I thought lush was all natural too but on their site they list all ingredients and like 90% have them...kinda strange!!

  • Thank you SO much for this video! Going to retweet this =)

  • I would be very cautious when you say that parabens cause cancer because there has never been a true experiment with this subject it is only correlational studies and you can't conclude cause and effect. Also parabens are also found naturally in certain foods.

  • @MessieJessieable yeah but think about salt!! salt is fine in small quantities...but these days salt is already added to so many types of processed foods/bread/pasta etc. That people are consuming too much salt and therefore at risk from heart disease. I believe that its true if you over expose yourself to chemicals you will harm your body.Cancer is caused by changes in the environment, pollutions, sun, chemicals, radiation.so of course chemicals cause cancer!!

  • @MessieJessieable think about evolution and how humans have become what they are today just because of the "natural" environment around them. or how many species adapted to their surroundings because of the environment...fish, white polar bears, birds migration etc.these were due to just subtle changes in nature.add lots of new chemicals into the equation, not only are we harming ourselves and giving ourselves cancer...but other species too.

  • @MessieJessieable where do you think these chemicals go? they dont just disappear. they all accumulate into the water system. the drugs/the pill (as in legal medicines) which people take are excreted when you go to the toilet...this in turn ends up in the water system. already there is evidence that male fish are turning female because of the pill alone! chemicals can have a major effect on us and the environment.sure makeup in 40s used to contain radium!!

  • @MessieJessieable I'm curious to know why parabens have been banned in some countries then?

  • @macosophy there are maybe going to do so in france!

  • @macosophy "Although there is an Internet myth claiming that they have been banned in both Europe and Japan, it is not true. Parabens are allowed for use by every government agency that regulates cosmetics worldwide." That's from SkinINC.com.

  • @MessieJessieable I am taking a research methods class and that is exactly what I have been told, correlation does not equal causation!

  • @MessieJessieable i thought parabens were synthetic and they are used as conservatives in food?

  • @MessieJessieable yeah but i wouldn't take chances. :)

  • Holy Shizzzz... Thanks for the video, I'm going to be more aware of the products I purcahse as well. The Fix Plus, thankfully I dont use mine all that much :) The bottom line is if you have to use products with parabens, limit the intake....

  • This is scary! I'm definitely going to look into this now too!

  • I carefully looked at my new revlon gloss in nude lustre. It had a long sticker that worked as a seal

  • Lush's Dream Cream has 2 parabens as well...so much for being healthy and natural

  • I just want to suggest my favorite brand in hair care - which is Paraben FREE. I use Biolage and I have tried several shampoos and conditioners and they are soo good.

  • Yay! Another beauty YT-er that has caught onto parabens! I wish more YT-ers would catch on to this because they have so much influence and hock products with parabens all the time. Tarte is a good brand that doesn't have parabens. Sadly, my HG foundations, Chanel, has parabens - I had to look on the boxes at the store. That's the best way to find out which products do b/c the high-end brands don't list ingredients online. I was bummed that some Lush products have parabens, too, but some don't.

  • thanks for the links! the only thing I found in my makeup that doesn't have parabens is Hard Candy's Sheer Envy Primer.. wow!

  • don't forget about products with petrolatum too! great vid!

  • Not only are lipsticks (probably) filled with one or more paraben, they are mostly made of lead anyway, so they're not good for you... So try to stay away! Warning!!

  • That is SO sad...

  • Hi, great video once again. I'm upset knowing that aussie 3 minute miracle has perabens in it. Got a couple questions for you. 1. Can you please let me know when you find a good deep conditioner. 2. Do you know if maybeline fit me foundation has any parabens in it ? 3. Do you know if clinique foundation has them?

    Thank you so much.

  • Water bottles and plastic containers are dangerous as well because of an ingredient Bisphenol-A, much more toxic than parabens but alike in the fact that they turn both into estrogen in the body. Clear plastic water bottles are often made of cheap plastics or polycarbonate which leak Bisphenol-A into the liquid. So when you drink bottled water out of a cheap plastic bottle, you are getting infused with cancerous toxins. But we only live once :)

  • What about Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation that you love???

  • Are you going to finish the products you have with parabens or not? I am also surprised you hadn't heard of paraens as well.

  • I love the spectrum of your videos! You cover it all....and you're beautiful to boot. Keep it up girl!

  • Did you check your kitchen cabinets and snacks as well? Parabens are used in processed foods (chips, cereal, frozen items, pastries, dietary supplements, and drugs etc.) for the same reason.

  • To glad you did this! Me and my twin sis went paraben free and talc free about four months ago, we are 15. I'm so happy yoou made this vid to spread the word, I have some info I realllyyyyyy wanna tell yea, but I'll have to message you later because it is to long to put in a video comment lol!

  • you should check out a website called skindeep it is a data base where you can look up a ton of different products ingredients and related stuff. i also wonder if you emailed a company about ingredient list if they would have to send it to you. I always thought in canada that ingedients had to be disclosed like by law. also i know for a lot of makeup products the ingredients ar elisted on outer boxes rather than on the foundation bottle itself. i think color stays ingreds r right in the bottle

  • I'm interested to see if this will really change what you purchase and use from now on

  • The Naked palate has parabens in the and urban decay primer potion too

  • PS Sephoras website is pretty good with listing all the ingredients to the stuff they sell.

  • get the burt's bees lemon butter cuticle cream!! amaaazing and paraben free :)

  • oh yeah & lush has alot of parabens!! i looked on the website. they say their the mildest parabens in them but still i dont want them :[ if they can determine parabens in cancer tumors its NOT good that we use them ya know :) love these videos! ive been spreading the word aswelll!!! sulfates are bad too for your hair! i hate the loreal sulfate free shampoo!

  • I love Lush too ,but they really aren't always as "natural" as they seem!

  • i bought the Hempz body lotion from Ulta and it is paraben free :) i think the one you have is similar but the hempz brand is paraben free!

also deodorants have 14.5% of aluminum in them and it linked to Alzheimers, because the aluminum gets in your body from when you shave.. it says do not use on open skin.. aka after you shave your underarms.. :( i got the lavanilla healthy deodorant!!

  • THANKYOUU :)

  • Where is nicky's link...

I have watched Jen's in the past. Thanks for your video..

  • @starbluewhitered Both links are in the video and in the info bar...

  • @emilieclarke Thanks for adding them. ;)

  • I wonder what alternative is used on products without parben cuz you have to add some kind of preservative in order for products to last. I read in the magazine that sugar free food/drinks have more harmful chemical that acts as sugar :( scary

  • I'm so upset, almost all the shadows in the Urban Decay Naked palette have parabens in it :( I just got my UD Naked palette today, what a disappointment !

  • haha omg.... i literally watched those 2 videos ysturday and freaked out

  • The fact that you didn't know about this before shocks me.

  • thx so much for this useful information! My wet n wild will gone too !

  • FIRST :D
