I normally don't post on here, but who the hell gave thumbs down to this???? Is it because of the sound quality or what???? The intro is one of the best I've ever heard. It's really heartfelt. Black Sheep, who I admire as well, really did a great job with the sample.

Every time I hear this song, I reflect back on my life. I reflect on the good and bad. This song always bring tears to my eyes. As we get older, we learn more about life.
I'm rediscovering The Isley Brothers and for some reason it took me all those years to realize how beautiful this song is. Funny how it finally hit me!
What a beautiful song. I remember this came out when I got married in 1974.
Brings back such lovely memories of a happy time, it seems very atmospheric of the early to mid seventies. Funny, where the lyric tells us things have gone wrong is just what happened to me, a few years later. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful record, it should be regarded as a classic.
This song is so sultry, with so much meaning.I sure wish we had artist and groups like this today. I thank God that I came up in an era were we had songs that you could learn from, besides a good rythm or beat.Groups like The Isley Bros.,Commordores,O'Jays,EW&F,just to name a few. You can't touch them.
@eric2181965 I agree. That intro is one of the most beautiful parts of any song, anywhere. This is probably the prettiest song the Isleys ever wrote and the lyrics are great too.
hey some one help me!!! im looking for an isley song where at the end when they going he switches it up and swear he keeps repeating FIRE(guitar riff).... FIRE... Fire....etc random i know! but its gonna drive me nuts until i hear it. i swear
I appreciate and have so much respect for everyone who has looked up this band/song on youtube, not only are they a wonderful funkalicious brotherly band, but they bring so much inspiration! I love the RHCP, not only because they rock, but because they have funk/soul in them! Same goes for MJ, Stevie W, Tupac/Biggie's beats, etc and to all those bands who actually sing unlike lady gaga/justin bieber with their regurgitated pop/filled in vocals, fuck the mainstream
bless you. I have one son and he is now starting to lead his own life. I remember this song so well from whenI was in my 20s, and was happy. My son is all I have, but I suppose we have to let them go, although it is very hard.
@u2rockzzz Me too, this was made way before I was a twinkle in my fathers eyes - and it's there along with most of the stuff from The Commodores, Earth Wind and Fire, O'Jays - real music is just fantastic!
@port2344chester Port! The Isley Brothers music always moved me...Harvest for the World is my favorite...Dress me up for battle, when all I want is Peace!

ronald isley and a moog organ..........wow.........this is the first album that the isley's produce on there on...... i beleave the album was call 3+3
dont be a hater just because i know their history..........
@ladycat629 The one and only and yes it is played very very very very x2 well lol. Chris jasper was very underated and because he was overshined by Ronald isley he couldnt shine as bright as he wanted to even though he did sing backround on a few of their songs.
This song was a great closer to what is still a groundbreaking landmark record for a group who had paid its dues in the chitlin' circuit after 16 years. "3 + 3" is a fantastic record mixed of rock and funk, something that would be repeated by countless other artists. The Isleys were the missing link to Sly & the Family Stone and Jimi Hendrix when it came to that.
i was born in 80 and i love this kind of music. the music today is simple and plain purposely made that way to dumb down society and control the masses. music like this is not played because it makes u think.
@LostAngelesTV>>>>Just to correct you on that bro...you can't be born in the 70s to appreciate 70s kind of music at he same time.....it just has to be before that like in the 60's or in the late 50s to be aware of how great music was during that era....cheers to you...
The piano intro always made me feel like I was floating, and that everything was going to be okay. I love the Isleys. I love my generation of musicians.
I was a child when this song was played in my mom's car. This song brings tears to my eye back then as well as now.
This song reminds me of my children are leading different paths in life. They are definitely moving down on highway of their lives. I am proud but i am hurting so badly. They are all I have.
@awmaw67 Hi ! I´m a 67 too. Amazingly at my childhood , this song was present all the time. Like you described above. I can remember , even the radio exactly. My mom & my brothers e my friends. Life goes by...
That intro is just TOUGH! Shoutout to chris Jasper!

@JustGod7 I agree totally. Like you I was born in the 80's, and i'd rather listen to this over the crap these radio stations play.

I love my generation of musicians.

if isley brothers did not exist there would be no memphis underground rap stage :D
so many rapper from memphis sampled them. i thank isley brothers for being so good and such a big inspiration to people.
also rappers like ice cube and biggie sampled them :)

I was a child when this song was played in my mom's car. This song brings tears to my eye back then as well as now.
This song reminds me of my children are leading different paths in life. They are definitely moving down on highway of their lives. I am proud but i am hurting so badly. They are all I have.
