3 questions... what does it mean when its says "minimum" and "retard" when its calling final altitude? on both sides of the throttles what are those two black and white wheels that some times turn ? any explanation would be greatly appreciated! :)
I have even seen "Heavies" crabbing into the wind using upwind rudder...but you would think such a landing would at least cause some structural damage somewhere on landing. Dipping the upwind wing and using downwind rudder is the best technique.
Good landing. It's not a joke though. Airbus is trying to make their airplanes too safe to where it'll about fly the plane for you. THis can also be a problem when for instance you want to test the engines on a brand new A380 with the brakes on but the computer figures you really mean to let go the brakes and you snap the plane in two.
at 1:26, i think you would have had a good and soft landing... but i dont kow why you turned the plane to its right side and landed like that which I think gave it a bit of a rough landing... other than that good landing:)!
@TheJJL2112 - The wind was from the right so the pilot had to align the plane's nose w/left rudder. Now if the upwind wing isn't lowered into the wind, the plane would be pushed to the left.
@southaustinbrass101 I have actually seen Heavies crabbing into the wind with upwind rudder...but its risky as at the very least could cause structural damage somewhere on landing. Dipping the upwind wing is the way to go.
@AztroNut66 It depends...although I have absolutely no experience flying heavies and only one flight hour in a cessna under my belt, I feel like the sideslip crosswind approach is limited in application. Won't work if crosswind is over a certain speed, won't work with four-engined planes that don't have much clearance under their wings etc. Sideslip preferred for lighter crosswinds maybe, but not all crosswind situations. What do you think?
@Tscheriff The gap is a lot more narrow now than it used to be. The primary difference really is the hardware. X-plane is FAA certified, and the commercial version is no different than regular, it just checks for proper hardware.
@MovieMakers59 go and fly a Full flight Simulator level D, and you will realise that 1. FSX aint sh*t 2. It's not as easy as it looks. Am sure you will be humbled by the experience. Even with 100,000hr on FSX, I guarantee that most of your landings will be worse than this.
@liamdudeeee no, an Airbus is an AIRcraft, this Airbus will not land, it will stay in the air. If you come near to the ground it will call:" bastard, bastard". You know?
An Airbus will not land, never, it will stay in the air.
@EinkOLED Well my father is a pilot. I found that funny when I was a kid, so he told me what it meant. I might not have remembered exactly what he said but he said something with putting the thrust levers back. I also watched him land a plane once many years ago and when he used the brakes it sounded like it was reversing. I don't know. I was 9 years old by the time.

Dont try to straighten the plane with the ailerons in job...That will be your last day of pay!
zeesh181 1 week ago
tip:-
Start applying Rudder from 100ft slowly such that at 50 or 30 ft you have a nose straight (with the centre line)
you correct the drift caused by the rudder by ailerons which is not much....
Note:- 1/3 stick movementto right or left wont lift the roll spoilers
i tried this in the simulator many many times Smooth landing as ever.......

@ThePfeffi80
Yes, many airlines will let you use it during idle times (sometimes in the middle of the night... if you have the necessary cash.

I cannot second this - I have relatively little experience in FS, but my first level D landing (Kai Tak), came out nicely (not my last one, though)

kuenneth 5 months ago
@liamdudeeee Not really. It said retard. It means that the thrust is supposed to be reversed
eragonrex1 2 months ago
Retard means retard the thrust levers/ or pushing the thrust levers all the way back to idle. Reverse thrust is entirely the decision of the crew.
'You can't engage reverse thrust whilst in the air and after the flare'.
