I remember the epic chills that ran down my spine when watching both Xena AND Hercules near late noon when I was but a young youth, I'm 19 now and I still see this show as badass as it was from before. Some shows today are just not worth it, gotta love the old 90's shows, they really knew what they were doing back then, am I right?

This was a 6th season episode opening title from the 2000's in its last year, and all being filmed here in NZ.

You see I am a cinematographer, and was working on the second production unit on Xena at that time. BTW you are quite right however in that this programme is vastly superior to most of the shows being put out currently.

But as the series went on she was able to help Xena. Even Ares became interested in Gabrielle as a warrior, as in 5th season's Succession.

Somehow all (most) other female action heroes seem wussy when compared to Xena. Xena defines the female action hero. The strength, the dark past, the sword, the warrior outfit, the horse (Argo!!!), her voice...everything about Xena is majestic. I doubt that there'll ever be a female action hero like her again. Today's society doesnt seem like it can handle her. Hooray for the 90s!

This was my favorite TV show as a teenager in high school in the 90's. I would babysit an 8 year old girl who was really into it too, and she would pretend to be Xena and run around and do the Xena cry LOL....I loved the 90's but I also loved the 80's. I lived through 2 awesome decades, TV was better in the 80's and the 90's. And Xena is not an old show to me - the quality of it's color/look is like today's TV and the late 90's was really was yesterday to me.

Many times the cost of making shows like this is greater than the return, so networks drop them after 1 or 2 seasons. One example is Rome on HBO.
