It doesn't sounds as a live performance, we cannot hear applauses or noises of crowd or breathing : but what a piece; as good as the mono 1964 original version !
@Sylvain894 I suppose that one doesn't hear the audience applauding at the end simply because they stayed speechless for a quarter of an hour before recovering from the shock...
One of the best piano performances of all time. Being a pianofile i have listened to a thousands of piano records but this one gives me goose bumps every time i hear it. Also must hear is his live rendition of Bach's inventions from Moscow - so much different from his studio recordings.
Flawless, and bottomlessly profound.

Gould & Sweelinck. This performance is a treasure as great as any painting, sculpture or architectural master piece you can name.

Gould's recital in Salzburg was astonishing : Sweelinck, Schoenberg, Mozart and Bach (the first version of Goldberg variations).

The strict and mystical incipit is actually touching. Thanks for posting.

Adds a contrast that I despised and now accept...

Yep, this music really gets inside a person. You can almost see what the composer saw as he wrote it. Thank God for JS Bach!
