I hate to diagree with you, but according to the most recent news, they were going to connect what happened in the movie to the series, and you must remember, that in the first episode of the new season, we saw the Ultron Shredder, fighting against the Tengu Shredder and the Digital Shredder, which may pinpoint that Karai is trying to bring him back from the icy asteroid where we last saw him.

on the last episode of tmnt before fast foward karai actually help them defeat the shredder but not the utrom shredder the demon shredder and the last time we saw her she left with a scientist that was in love with her for many episodes but i never head of the utrom shredder after that episode (not the original one that is)
