The sound at 0:06 and 0:28 is, needless to say, brutally haunting. It can never be erased from the minds of those who were there, who heard it firsthand. That's the sound of death ripping the throat out of life.
It shouldn't have happened.
Human flight is a tricky thing, and racing of any kind is always a gamble — and sometimes a terrible one — for everyone involved, directly and otherwise.
****CONTINUED**** so close to spectators without any safety is ok? The fans should be 1 mile (or more) away with binoculars or even better, at home watching it on tv. It's very unfortunate but was it unexpected? This isn't 1911, it never should've happened.
Wouldn't NASCAR, Indy, motorcycles, monster trucks & every other type of high speed racing, be more exciting w/o walls, barriers & fences? Imagine that, It would be so exciting, like the trucks racing 100 mph in the desert through a narrow corridor of spectators! You'd have Paul Stewart drifting sideways onto the straight away with no protection to the fans! Why not? Well that would be ridiculous, right? Why is this any different? Who thinks this type of airplane racing, so close to spectator

How terrifying. The escalating sound of the plane just before it hits the ground is haunting. God bless them.
