I have many Persian friends. They're great people. Nowruz is a cultural holiday. It is very noble of Obama to have made this speech. The leaders of Iran deflected it, but it shows that America has taken a higher stand in world politics and foreign policy than Bush's war policies. They don't get here easily -- they risk their lives to come to a safe country because Mexico is so dangerous. They try to talk to their government but their government doesn't listen. They feel helpless. Put yourself in their shoes. They WANT to be here legally, but there's a 20 year waiting list. They can't wait that long -- by then they might be dead.

I have many Persian friends. They're great people. Nowruz is a cultural holiday. It is very noble of Obama to have made this speech. The leaders of Iran deflected it, but it shows that America has taken a higher stand in world politics and foreign policy than Bush's war policies. That sends a profound message to the Iranian people. Half the people on here who've been criticizing Obama for this probably know nothing about Iran, other than that they're in "The Axis of Evil".

This is an indication for Obama`s will for better relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Unfortunately, the leader in Iran are not interested in a good relationship, because they have to give up their fanatic ideology. Making sure you are doing what is right regardless of what others do takes a strong person.
If Iran cannot move forward like the US has moved forward (with Obamas leadership) then you may be much closer to being truly justified in your criticism of them.

Obama isn't pushing deplomacy because he's "afraid" of Iran or because he's "a coward" like some people here are saying. Everyone... EVERYONE knows that the U.S. miltary could wipe Iran off the face of the map, removing any and all "threats" at the push of a button. He's pushing deplomacy because he knows it's the right thing to do. Societies with connections and commerce with other societies tend to advance their human rights much more quickly than isolationist ones.

Some of you boys never served your country, so you don't know how to plan for a war. This president has some of the best military generals and staff in the world. Before engaging in war you to at least do detail assessment, strategic planning, positioning, etc. -- that's if you want to "win" the battle; if not, just say we want to fight tomorrow. This president may be wearing a mask though, he seems too cool and calm; looking at history, those are the kind of people you need to look out for.
