I learned to play traditional set up with my hands reversed. I havent seen much of that, so i thought it was more unique than the other way. But i do play both ways.

i just started drumming aswell, and missing some strokes or a few rythms is ok, as long as you keep your will to learn, you'll get better in time, patience and training :) and this is not bad, not bad at all.
