Nice job TK.. getting some pretty solid tones there. However one thing you need to make sure of in future vids is that your axe is actually tuned! Other than that, always helpful and I appreciate the gear you demo week after week.
Well this gave me the idea to plug my BOSS ME-70 preamp out into my recently acquired Carvin Valvemaster's power section. Modding it per Hasserl forum recommendations and recovering the cab after removing about 6 inches of width from the head/cab.
i've been searching about this pedal but I haven't seen anyone answer my question, does it sound like the DUAL REC?? I don't own the real one so I can't tell...
Hi Tone-King, I really like you´re reviews. Though you´re not only presenting effordable stuff, you never make it sound arrogant when it comes to the advantages of this and that. And I like your warnings in terms of dont do it like this because... this is really helpful. You make serious reviews for musicians (which robably dont earn their money with music). But our kind is the majority...
I downloaded the vid to hear what the pedal could do, not to hear you pretending to be in a thrash band, why didnt you alter the settings to let us all see what its capable of? bad advertisement mate
Very good!!! Not as a stompbox!!! Look at my vedeo^ i have all of amt preamps (almost all) Marshall and Mesa boogie on my video and many stompboxes ))))
These pedals from AMT Electronics are sick and top notch. My buddy owns the M-1(Marshall),the B-1(Bogner)and the E-1(Engl)and they are brutal!!You should also check out the P-1(Peavey 5150)and the S-1(Soldano)as thet are awesome too.Hey TK maybe you can throw some demo's of the others on here as well since you give honest looks at products before we throw money at them.Good review as alway's TK!!
Hey TTK. I'm looking into getting a King V. Is it a versatile guitar? My band plays metal like Metallica and Iron Maiden, and I was wondering if it has a rich clean tone? Great review and thanks!
Nice job. I would like to see a vid of ALL your gear. Guitars, amps pedals, EVERYTHING! I bet it's an impressive collection. Plus, if anything ever happens (i.e. fire, theft, etc.) you've got a nice inventory for the insurance company! I did it and it really paid off in the end,
I would to see a side by side comparison of the pedal and an actual rectifier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that video would probably be one of the greatest videos...OF ALL TIME!!!!!!
Hey Tone King, can you do a threeway shoot out between this preamp into the carvin tube head, the new dual rectifier multi-watt, and the Randall RM100 with the treadplate module? See which of the three would rule? Thanks man, keep the videos coming!
Great video and preamp sounds great too ))) Thanks a lot!!! How it feels when you play? How it close to original mesa? Or may be it is like FX processor kinda sound?
@MattPurkis yeah haha, they are a bit pricey. I'm in the process of buying an ENGL fireball that sounds great. it's only about $1400 but i still consider that pricey.
your vids would be sooooooooooooooooo much better if you used a microphone to record the sound, and told us how you set the knobs on amps, pedals etc. you review.
Do you know if there's any pedal focusing on just cab emulation? Since i was born with line6 (well, that's what i bought when i first started out with guitars, pod farm and very soon all expansions), im spoiled with having 30-40+ cabs to choose from, and they do change the tone quite a bit. But unlike preamps, maybe it's just a linear eq?
i checked this pedal out before with gearmandude but sience he used it at the front of a dr. z and a telecaster, it did'nt sound as heavy... you tone king however, made it sound real heavy :D
Wow. I wasn't expecting too much by looking at the sheer size of the pedal, but it does REALLY sound like a rectifier. I'm a long-time Mesa/Boogie-player and I'm really intreigued and amazed. What do theese run for?
i assume that the carvin is on the clean channel, because the preamp pedal is creating the distortion? what are the settings on the carvin? and have you tried the preamp turned on, with the distortion channel of the carvin?
@mordecai52005 I have the pedal plugged directly into the FX RTN jack. No clean channel - 100% into the power section of the amp (which is clean by nature, but it's not the clean channel).
@lmsjr with my amp (peavey jsx head) it has to be on one of three channels (clean/crunch/lead) once turned on. and whatever i have in the effects loop, affects the amps preamp. if i were to get the AMT R-1 i would use it in the loop while in clean.
Check out the 'Whampler Pedals Triple Wreck' - now that sounds like a recto, that AMT thing sounds nothing like a Mesa/Boogie Dual-Recto's red channel!
ttk i think you should maybe try this preamp with a budget amp to see how good it really is because that carvin is a top quality amp :') :D:D great review as per usual however :)
Nice demo, as always! Very big sorry for being not persistent enough and unable to get through to Yan Marichev! I let you down and I totally admit it! My bad and no excuses... Anyway, I am very happy, that you in the end achieved it and can now demo this pedal! You are thee Man! \m/
Hey TTK, seeing how the pedal is solid state, how do you think it compares to just a plain old tube preamp? I've noticed that tube amps "push air" differently than solid state amps, if you know what I mean. Seeing how you're in the room with that amp, do you think it "pushes air" like a full-on tube amp, seeing how it has a tube power section? From here it sounds pretty bad ass, I'm just curious how it "feels" in the room with you. Rock on dude!
ttk remember two or three webcasts ago I asked you about the pedal? thanks so much... you are so awesome for buying all this things and demoing them for 40 dollars a month... thanks man!!! great pedal and great review!
@dynamitesteel Thx dynamite - BTW - I do buy lots of stuff, no doubt - but the AMT pedals were sent to me. I've been talking w/ AMT for over 6 months, and they were able to send over the full set so I can review. Everything else behind me I own :-)
@lmsjr yeap, you told me that :P. I remember you telling me that the reason that is took so long is beacuse they are located in russia. Can't wait for the randal and marshall modules up next!
@SIXXX1POUNDER yes. All pre-amp tone controls on the Carvin (or any amp for that matter) should by bypassed - so you're turning your existing head into something else - in this case, an R1 Dual Rec
Nice job TK.. getting some pretty solid tones there. However one thing you need to make sure of in future vids is that your axe is actually tuned! Other than that, always helpful and I appreciate the gear you demo week after week.
