I used to sing this to my girl when I was in the Army. I have been searching for the name and the original production for so long just as all NY'rs from the doo-op era; Man this is the ultimate. Thanks ever so much.
I dedicate this to my pretty red-headed WAC at Ft. McClellan circa 1965, hope you're having a good life.
@sirvyver I am glad you got your song ,and hopefully your girl. The song topped the Billboard chart in the summer of '63. I had just graduated from high school in North Carolina. I spent the summer in NYC working in order to go to college.
We bopped down the street listening to this tune on my transistor radio. My friend, Peggy would never let me change the channel whenever this song would begin to play. Here is to you Peggy Mass wherever you are!
In North Jersey (Bloomfield - Soprano Land) in the early 60s we used to sing in alleys. We wore "high roll", white-on-white (shirts), dress pants, and "featherweights" (shoes), and a cardigan sweater. In those days, to wear $100 worth of clothes was style, and it was very "cool". Call it the "greaser" look. Anyway, this Tymes song was a loved standard for us. We would sing it hours on end. It is pure harmony. Notice that there were zero instruments? This just does NOT happen any more.
Gosh, I love this song from June, 1963 -- such wonderful memories of being 13 -- the crush-per-week, fun, playing baseball, delivering the very early morning papers...mmmmm....
Imagine this being played on the radio (top 40) everyday nowadays. I guess we'll never go back to the '60's . Times were tumultuous then too. The music like this was so good.
So Much In Love - The Tymes [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania] - No.01 on 6/22/1963. 12 weeks Top 40 - "AMG Pick. Originally titled 'So In Love.' Their BEST charter and a favorite of mine. George Williams' vocals are sublime in this song." - The Best Of The Tymes 1963-1964 (ABKCO)-2005.
As 1963 hs grad, when I first heard this summer of '63 song, I thought it was the greatest song that I had ever heard. Not much has changed my mind about it since.

Can you believe the quality of their voices. The doo wop of the 60's will never be matched. Watch Jerry Butler and Betty Everett Let it be me too!
