  • baseball players get paid to stand in a field and sit. nfl players get paid to be sumo wrestlers for 10 seconds then break. nhl players get paid to fight on skates. basketball players get paid to hit 3s and not defend or dribble up and pass the ball, or dunk. In soccer football you are doing a 100 things.

  • What a sack of shit commercial - oh they ' invited the world ' bleah fuck shit bollox raping killing pieces of fuck !!!

  • Mandela at 0:30 FTW!!

  • This was great for South Africa... i believe that this nation, of all the poor African places, can and will turn itself around.

  • this sent a chill down my spine

  • If this song doesnt give you chills i dont know what will

  • this commercial is mad deep

  • Does anyone know what the background chanting is? Huge U2 fan so I know it's not in the original version but I was just wondering cause it sounds awesome

  • @sanjmo South African Soweto Gospel Choir

  • awesome ad and awesome song

  • SOCCER! :D

  • great ad

  • whats the name of the song?

  • Yeah, SA "invited the world" to play the game with them, then they started blowing those blasted vuvuzelas. This Cup has the lousiest audio on record. Nobody can hear the singing and chanting anymore, it's just one long drone. Tell me this isn't black payback against Apartheid? "Cultural" my butt! All this blowing is just plain inconsiderate to everybody else.

  • On basic principle, football is inferior to soccer. Why? In soccer, you don't have fat overweight guys making a play for 2 seconds, having a rest for 5 minutes, taking another 5 minutes to get back on the field, and then going at it again, all while taking turns on the oxygen masks that are parked on the side of the bench. Soccer is hands down the most physically demanding sport in the world. Give me 5 football players that have the stamina to go a full 90 minutes of running

  • @emnevershouts I'm an American and I agree with about 90% of it. I HATE American "Football". But I am a horrible runner, and I can run longer playing soccer than I can powerskate playing hockey. I believe Ice hockey is more physically taxing but American football doesn't even enter the equation.

  • @emnevershouts a sport isnt "inferior" to another because its less running. American football is about brute strength AND stamina but in short bursts where its all released. Sure they sub in and out but lets not forget soccer is not running for 90 minutes, its jogging/walking around and trying to setup a play when some sprinting occurs. Im not saying thats not hard but give me 5 soccer players to go for a few plays of football and not be in serious pain.

  • @kschwab14 First of all, professional soccer players don't get paid to jog/walk around. They will sprint and run for a good 70 minutes a game. If they don't, they'll get pulled on the bench and sit. Or even thrown off the team. How do I know? I played division 3 soccer in college and even then if you were caught jogging in our team you would be pulled out and subbed.

  • @TheBestOne98 Of course soccer players will run most of a game that doesn't mean they will be sprinting for 70 minutes. no one can do that. You have to conserve energy and pick your runs not run aimlessly around for the whole game. Soccer players have much lighter frames than american football players which lets them run more.

  • @kschwab14 90 minutes mate, then some stoppage time, then if tied extra time.

  • Anyone know if a version of the song was ever released like the commercial? With the chant and all that? It sounds really cool.

  • @sjkatana I hope so too. It's a series of songs that U2 released to the Soweto Gospel Choir for the World Cup 2010... YouTube Soweto Gospel Choir and U2 ... you'll find more. :)

  • Bafana Bafana!!

  • too bad S.A. became a bastion of black racism against whites years after Mandela's rise.

  • 0:39 Just gives me goosebumps.

  • I like #27 he seems like a good guy :)

  • Where the streets have no name!!

  • Which U2 member is narrating this song? I know it's not Bono, I think it is Adam Clayton, but not sure. Help!!!!

  • @ameehan2357 I don't think it's narrated by anyone from U2. I think the ad that Bono narrated was the only one that featured a U2 member.

  • there is only one word that can describe this ad:

    EPIC!!

  • Love 0:39 the stadium full and screaming cant even imagine how they feel coming out of the tunnel. Cant wait.

  • i see nelson in 0:31!

  • This was beautiful and it moved me.

  • Where are the vuvuzelas?

  • the prisoners are better than the south african national football team.

  • doesn't the guy at :13 look like Jamie Foxx?

  • @DrumminPolrBr yes i thought the exact same thing. looks just like him

  • Beautiful Ad, beautiful sport.

  • South Africa is the closest country to Antarctica. Enough said

  • @ExtrinsicOne One of the closest I mean

  • Love this kind of "feel good" shit when the reality is that there are literally hundreds of black on white murders/crimes a day there, but the media paints them as innocents to be pitied and supported in their crimes.

  • @NoMorFear um..well here in reality...black people were the victims 1980's and before...they endured 100's of years of abuse...and you complain about a few black on white murders...inner racism shining through...i think so...

  • @beats1n1shit

So if your grandfather killed a black's grandfather, that gives the black the right to kill you today (hypothetical)? The irrational altruism of self-hating leftists like you knows no bounds (unless you're black).

And it's not a "few murders", it's FIFTY a day, verified empirically.

  • @NoMorFear keep giving me labels so you can feel justified by your opinions. i'm not pretending south africa is perfect, or even close...but i think it's a much fairer country today...blacks aren't killing whites because of their skin color...(like pre-apartheid, except whites doing it)...today its blacks killing because the whites have a lot more money on average...maybe once that is fixed, and blacks are given the same opportunities whites are, things will change...

  • @NoMorFear lol so now your one of these conspiracy theorists...oh wow...mandela has never been caught singing about killing whites that is a bunch of made up bull shit. this is why you don't see any reputable sources reporting it...only white racist groups...look up poor white south africans?...blacks in south africa are still living in poverty that the whites of south africa couldn't even begin to imagine...oh a poor few whites!! please.

  • @NoMorFear you sound like you'd rather see south africa continue to suffer instead of rising up and becoming a great country...self-hate if i've ever seen it.

  • @NoMorFear ur an ignorant dumbass

  • @NoMorFear Whites kill blacks, i guess where even. by the way, im not black.

  • @NoMorFear

    Shut up you white supremacist

  • I didn't know Ron Artest was a South African political prisoner

    0:01-0:03

  • To all the ignorant people out there...you'll see....the World Cup will change everything. I promise you one day the worlds game will bring peace to this world.

  • I like this :)

  • @AllanJesus Yeah, go ahead though guy and go the WC yourself and see if you come back in one piece? They can't sell tickets because so many are afraid to go there.

  • @gytek lol the world cup is almost completely sold out. 84% of the tickets have already been sold and thats outdated, more by now..it will be sold out by the time it arrives...and besides that, the real reason this world cup has struggled to sell out (moreso than usual atleast) is because airlines have sky rocketed the prices for people to travel from around the world...facts aren't your thing eh?

  • @beats1n1shit Last time I heard they sold only about 40 % of tickets. Lets wait and see crowds at the games and reports from the ground 10-4

  • @gytek they have less than 500,000 tickets left to sell...there are a total of 2.4 million (Or there about's total to be sold). you do the math.

  • @witness623 wow, you really don't understand anything, do you?

  • @LehmFuhrer please, elaborate....

  • @witness623 what does any of this have to do with white supremacy? it's a game that means something to the world. in the 2006 world cup, cote d'ivoire put a halt to their civil war for the month while members of the two factions got together to watch the games. that, my friend, is change. and that, is the world cup.

  • @LehmFuhrer oh I get it, the world cup changes things in South Africa. My friend, you can use all the distractions you want to try and tuck away the problems but this doesn't do anyone any good unless they are making money from the World Cup. And white supremacy = South Africa.

  • All should note that his pompous PC pop singer "Bono" and U2 have moved their money to tax shelters in the Netherlands. They will not even tolerate poor people accessing their $ billions in Ireland, let alone live with poor Blacks in South Africa - the same ones they make these preachy "songs of freedom" about old and new South Africa.

Wouldn't we all like to see Bono go to the New South Africa for some political propaganda event, and then Bono gets lost in a bad neighborhood and killed.

  • @itsareligionofpeace way to make crap up dude.

  • awesome!

  • Get over yourselves! You guys are just as bad as the person you are condemning if you choose to state your beliefs here. The internet doesn't care about your facts and figures, mush less how you feel about politics.

This video is about the beautiful game and how it brought even the worst off people together as one. This Summer, for one month, we all will watch. That is that.

  • The new South Africa is worse! Just as many poor people and more crime! South Africa is 1st in rapes, 1st in number of people living with AIDS, 2nd in murders, and 4th in burglaries in the world. People live with electric fences around their homes and communities. There are high carjacking area signs on the roadways. The new ANC government is as corrupt as the old one.

  • BEST COMMERICAL EVER. Great message, great story, great SONG, great sport, GREAT EVENT! EPIC!!!!

  • BEST

    COMMERCIAL

    EVER

  • I like how at 0:37 they enter the tunnel as prisoners and leave it as players

  • Typical PC lies. Yeah, the new South Africa has supposedly found "freedom".

Freedom to do what? Rape little children? Suffer the worst AIDS rate in the world?3,000 plus murdered White farmers? See a once a safe, prosperous country going down in to electrical brown outs? Zimbabwe style corruption?

The pompous U2 song is so typical. Here's hoping Bono suffers the same fate as Amy Biehl.

  • @itsareligionofpeace = Never said the new South Africa is heaven. But at least it's not governed under apartheid anymore.

  • @itsareligionofpeace yeah, you're definitely right, they should have just let themselves be imprisoned and segregated forever.

  • How's this for irony: The prisoners had been ROBBED of their freedom, and sent to ROBBEN island

  • Isn't that Mandela at 0:30 ?? In any case, this is brilliant. NEVER, EVER GIVE UP !!

  • Long live the AWB and Boer Nation

  • What an incredible commercial.

  • While I'm looking forward to the WC and I don't necessarily doubt the history behind this ad, I want to clarify something. In the movie "Invictus", we are told that the prisoners at Robben played rugby, not soccer. This was apparently a big deal because rubgy was historical a white South African game and so the idea was that this prison experience helped Mandela bridge between his black world and that of the whites. Did they also play football?

  • @caeseroct0 I want to add, that I don't doubt they played both but you know if someone could clarify the history of sport at Robben Island, that would be great. Much thanks and let's have a great WC!

  • Is there a version of "Where The Streets Have No Name" with this african singing on it?
