The crash physics are horrible. iracing is a nr2003 mod. That's why they don't sell nr2003 anymore is because they want you to pay hundreds of dollars on iracing.
@TheRedrivervally You are truly a retard. The base core was Papy's Nr2k3/GPL code, Dave Kaemer created the physics engine of course they would start with that. It is nowhere near that engine nowadays.
but still, you dont see anyone sliding 180 mph backwards in the Daytona infield and getting airborn.. in all the other papy games, you would get a little (if not alot) of air.
There is aerodynamic lift in this game, I was running the indy car at Indy, I spun and when the car was backwards, the rear wing acts as the opposite of what it's supposed to, and sure enough, I lifted in the air(with no contact at all) so it had to be aerodynamic.
How you can pay so much money, for so shit game ?! Graphics like NFS 2, Damage nearly none, Cars nearly no Cars, Tracks: Only 5 tracks or so ... -.- Only the Suspension damage is good. Better play GTR2 oder even better LFS !
I love LFS. Been racing it for years. Shame development has pretty much ceased as it WAS the best.
iRacing has taken Sim Racing to the next level - it's truly awesome.
The damage is limited but enough to screw up a race if u don't take it seriously. The way the points system works (SR = Safety Rating) that's not a problem. It's about racing, not crashing...
Unfortunately its also extremely expensive - but u get wot u pays for...
Now I know how to save $13 a month...not get this game. LoL
The damage model looks terrible. Way worse than the much older NR2003. After the wreck that happened at about 2:00, a real-life stock car, as well as a stock car in NR2003, would've been completely non-functional.
Or were the damages set to moderate or minimal or whatever? The cars look like they handle pretty good, but the damage model sucks imo. Overall, I'm not impressed.
I don't think iRacing's priority of realism was the car's damage. I'll take the most realistic driving physics over the best damage model with mediocre physics (but maybe that's just me).
I dont pretend to know everything about racing sims or physics. But I think a true simulation should represent all the important facets of real-life AT LEAST REASONABLY well. Realistic damages is one of these.
The car that wrecked & hit first upside-down on its hood at about the 1:57 mark & then was driven away for a few fairly fast laps would NEVER have been as fast after that, if it was driveable at all!
I dont have to try the service to know that. And this makes it not a true sim, imo.
(replying respectfully...) I'd like to believe this was true, but if it is, how did that guy run so good for mulitple laps after he had that flying-thru-the-air-hard-landing wreck I mentioned? was he a simracing god or something? Looked like he was running pretty good afterward. o_O
Nothing new imho. tyres-ground reaction looks well indeed. But when car hits ground with other parts, looks like no energy is absorbed and car rebounds like pool ball (as other sims do)
I do recommend it if you are okay with a hardcore sim- not so much because of the physics (as they aren't really more difficult than other sims), but more because of the way the sim is handled. You really need to be able to appreciate the quality and detail of the content. There is a lot more personality in these cars and tracks than I've ever seen before so the lack of user created stuff isn't missed.
As for payment, you pay for the subscription up front anyway, so 1 year=$156.
im surprised nobody has made crash compilations yet, probbably b cuz they're mostly these hardcore sim nerds who dont have fun while crashing or something lol
I think the reason you won't be seeing many crash compilations is mainly because of the safety rating built into the sim- whenever you are on track with other cars, it will deduct points if you have spins and wrecks. Plus, the damage system is fairly simple right now- it will deform the body panels and bend your axles, but not much beyond that. It's suitable as is though- realism's great, but it's a racing simulator and the safety rating system should deter people from damaging their car.
yeah that too i remember hearing about that... so everyone will do everything possible to avoid accidents, and wont celebrate them when they happen, no matter how cool, lol
why after the 2nd crash with the #64 car did you not go to another crash??

this is stupid to show how the damage-physics works when there is no damage on the car..and when the car hits the ground it is going through it xD

The cars clip through the ground alot and the damage seems very forgiving.

crash models make the car too strong. the cars would be a little more damaged than iracing lets on

one good hit in this game and its nearly impossible to drive. It may not look realistic but it feels realistic.

looks pretty real on how cars react, but only problem seems that MODEL damage is not high enough :(
So do you recommend this game? I know its about 13 dollars a month, but can I pay in advance for lets say 6 months and pay one fee?
