@funandeducation Sure, they'll get along, especially if you get a handfed young parrot. Blue Crown conures can be VERY loud. However, if you get a young bird, you can train it to be quiet by not responding to it's complaining.

For example, if the bird starts "screaming" because you go out of the room, don't go back in. If it screams because you are paying attention to the other bird, don't go over to it and pick it up.

Watch "Avis Smarts off to his Mama" to hear the noise.

@sapperion Avis likes other music too. There's an Avis play list on my channel with him dancing to Aretha Frankin and the Blues Brothers. I really don't prefer ragae music and wonder how it came about that I was listening to this song to see him dance then make the video! (It's been awhile since I made this.)

I love Avis so much! He is sitting on my shoulder right now. He spends most of his day sitting on me, actually! He is so funny! Have you seen his other videos yet? He whispers, "Give me a big kiss!" It is so cute. One day he said it in his clear little "Did you have a bath?" voice but only once, darn it! He also says "ut oh" if I or one of the birds drops something plus a lot more! When I'm talking on the phone or to someone, he'll occasionally throw in an "Ohhhhhh!" It's so cute!

Sorry to take so long to respond. I've been having trouble with my computer but just got a new one. If you have it in a brooder, you want to have seed in there and water. The water must be in a dish that is very shallow so they can't drown. They will just start playing with the seeds at first then start eating them more and more. You want to continue the handfeeding until they don't want it anymore and are eating a lot of seeds or bird food pellets.

Yes, Avis chews all the green off his chest feathers. Someone gave him to me like that! He grows them all back then if I go to the store or outside without him, he chews them all off again! It is very upsetting to me to see the least!

Lol! Poor Avis is a plucker as you can see! He was given to Ted by a woman who handfed him then couldn't handle him anymore. He got so much attention that if he doesn't get enough, he plucks. Ted gave him to me and since I've been down here staying, he chewed all the green off the new feathers he grew when I was living up at my house because of FROSTIE! :(

Blue Crown Conures are the only Conure who is a good talker. They can be VERY demanding and VERY loud! However, their endearing personalities make up for the racket! Avis is a handful but he is also VERY entertaining!

No, that doesn't mean she is a girl. You can have her DNA sexed for $20.00 (blood test done by clipping a toenail a bit too short then dropping 3 drops of blood on a card) or from feathers (pluck three chest feathers then send them in). I have a video that explains it called "How To DNA Sex Your Bird". It provides the name and toll free number of the lab. Search my channel for it by using my search engine. You can feel the pelvic bones in the vent area. If they touch, or are very close: male.
