Rogers used a similar voice in Clampett's "Horton Hatches the Egg" (1942), 'Hazy'. No, Avery wasn't fired, but Schlesinger DID suspend him for several weeks...which factored in his decision to leave the studio.
Released in July 1941, and the end of Tex Avery's tenure at the studio. Before this was released, Leon Schlesinger ordered the final scene cut- where Bugs and "Willoughby" fall through ANOTHER hole after survivng the first one. Tex objected, Schlesinger suspended him, and Avery finally left the studio that September. Kent Rogers is "Willoughby"'s voice.
@fromthesidelines So that is why Tex Avery left WB to work at MGM, mainly because Schlesinger didn't give him enough freedom to do what ever he wanted.

@fromthesidelines Few corrections:
-Tex Avery is Willoughby.
-Bugs and the dog fall through TWO holes.
-"Speaking of the Animals" is the reason Avery left, but Avery was upset of the cut ending, and he did walk out (wasn't fired though)
