  • My favorite things at 2:54

  • "THE DOORS" Thank you God!

  • o wow!.....

  • HOOOOOOOO MY GODDDDDDDDD I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE

  • My Favorite Things was probably a nod to the Coltrane version, a favorite of jazz lovers back then.

  • yeah i think, therefore i'm peaking through the doors of perception - The Doors Rock and Rule (especially here in las vegas!)

  • i love how they play jazz blues and rock at the same time and that psychedelic collision between all this stuff, that's their unique style

  • ....a few of my favorite things too Robbie!!!

  • These are some of my favorite things? @ 2:55

  • This is awesome. I'm hering so many different songs in here. Summertime. Favourite things. Light my fire. Eleanor rigby, I think. Or maybe it's my imagination.

  • this is light my fire from europe insttumentals :d

  • this is sick!!!!

  • Wow. Didn't know they did this. And My Favourite Things solo. Cool. Thanks for posting.

  • i love me some doors

  • @omnisofos 2:55 is a song entitled "My Favorite Things" originally written by Mary Martin. It was covered by John Coltrane which is where I'm sure Robby got the influence from...not The Sound of Music. Just sayin'. THE DOORS FOR LIFE MOTHER FUCKERS!!!!!

  • @VelvetSkeleton Thanks for that one, always good to know these kind of things !

  • @omnisofos Poor guy, you were told the wrong info. It was written by Rodgers & Hammerstein for the Sound Of Music. Mary Martin sang it in the Broadway play then Julie Andrews in the movie. John Coltrane (and many others) covered the song. This info is all online.

  • @Grendelmonster8u Thanks for sharing that info. Imagine my musical genius, I could actually hear a small piece of Rodger & Hammerstein's Sound of Music being played in this Doors song called "Summertime" which originally has been composed by George Gershwin (1935 opera Porgy and Bess).

Billie Holliday and Janis Joplin also covered this song.

You can find this info online.

  • @omnisofos That's why people shouldn't talk out of their... (:

Yeah, Janis's is in my Favorites, as well as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald's (solo) and with Louis Armstrong. I'm really picky about covers of this one. I love this though. Cheers.

  • @Grendelmonster8u Haha I totally agree with you Sir ! Cheers.

  • Comment removed

  • @VelvetSkeleton Nope, it was written by Rodgers & Hammerstein for the Sound Of Music. Mary Martin sang it in the Broadway play then Julie Andrews in the movie. John Coltrane (and many others) covered the song. This info is all online.

Score one for Robby using it in the song.

  • @Grendelmonster8u you sillies,it is old traditional negro folklore song which they sang while picking the cotton as a kind of lullaby for their rich master's baby who happened to have a handsome wife,Jim was a small boy those days and whistled the melody often while drinking by the river

  • @Kornifigur "Summertime" as you hear it was written by George Gershwin. Quote: "Gershwin began composing the song in December 1933 [for the opera Porgy & Bess], attempting to create his own spiritual in the style of the African American folk music of the period. "

Some other guy thinks he got the tune from an Ukranian lullaby. You may be right in some way, but they were never singing it like this in the cotton fields. It's Gershwin's song. Above we're talking about the Sound of Music part. (:

  • @Grendelmonster8u 'twas a joke;)

  • @Kornifigur Oh, lol, I need more coffee. I just see people throwing around all this wrong info when it's only a new tab and a Google search away. Cheers.

  • @Grendelmonster8u I remember digging the Anne Brown version (on a 78) out of my parent's record collection; thought it was the eeriest thing I'd ever heard. Loved the Billy Stuart and JJ versions. I haven't heard a bad version of this song yet; hope no one tells Michael Bolton or Beonce.

  • @lrd9999 Didn't know B. Stewart's...love it & he changes the lyrics...thx! I like Billie Holiday's, Ella Fitzgerald, Janis Joplin, Doors, The Zombies (not unique though). Instrumentals: Miles Davis, Booker T. & The MG's, to name a few. There's some funky one but I can't remember name of band. I prefer non-karoake versions...some female newer artist's are so.

Check out Billy Preston's version live. Lol. watch?v=YlxxmNP2MKw&feature=related

Wiki says there are 2600 covers of this song. (:

  • @Grendelmonster8u The Preston version was great, he could probably have passed for Ray Charles if he did the whole song that way. Dave Edmunds also did quite a respectable version back in his "Love Sculpture" days.

  • Oh. My. God.

I just love them. Love. Love. Love. !!!

    <3

  • God nooo concerts like this anymore

  • Very sweet, very groovy, and very nice audio !

  • Live in Boston 1970 - Best Live Album. Ever in History.

  • the irony is amazing, everytime jim sings 'please don't cry' I get emotional

  • Jim Morrison has gotta be as close to the Son of God being on Earth that you can possibly get! He was everyone and no one all at the same time. The ultimate self sacrifice!

  • Awesome!!!! I love the quality.

  • I think Robbie Krieger had a slow start on this song that night in Boston...the start is a bit rusty imo. And is he trying a riff from the sound of music @ 02:55 ?? Or is my weed a bit strong today ?

  • @omnisofos Yeah... it sounds like Sound of Music! He did it again later athe the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction with Eddie Vedder. He was good but he got the lyrics wrong on Light My Fire.

  • @omnisofos I fucking love this song , im so stoned

  • @omnisofos He is trying to play My Favorite Things because Coltrane played it and this song on the same album.

  • does anybody know how i can get this track on my i pod???

  • @CurtisHalfHalf lol yeah what a total looser that guy is quoting the documentary like that lol

  • Comment removed

  • @morrisonien Quoting that part of the documentary word-for-word and passing it off as your own is cheap and phony...youre the idiot....you dyslexic asshole.

  • @CurtisHalfHalf i did not say that was my own phrase you asshole.if you feel alone or something like that do not try to get friends by critizing the others you freak

  • @CurtisHalfHalf Hey man, let's keep it cool. Everyone... let's keep it cool. Some people want to seem like they know everything about the Doors and Jim and this is their way of doing it. Just trolling. I ignore them. I don't stoop to the name calling. They like getting a rise out of people. Much love man. ♥ Not trying to get on you, just trying to keep it cool.

  • How come only today on September 1, 2010 are all these great unknown Doors Videos coming on to my screen with my, admittedly, decent experience with You Tube, without question the MTV of Music Videos of today, which usually are musically weak like most of today's musical groups (don't give them a dime with a purchase online) and yesteryear, the 1960's and 70's musical groups, who harmonized better with no digital lyp-synch technology unlike the new group laughers? Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • Hello syslack...thanks for the music video upload.
