I've got a couple Muslim friends but I'm nervous about asking them for help because I'm worried they'll find my stumbling disrespectful, what is a good course or book to work from or website that'll help?
@weirjf Hi, if you go to his website, bayyinah.c om/podcast/tag/nouman-ali-khan/, you could get the full tafaseer of the Qur'an, in which Nouman Ali Khan does not only translate it to it's closest, most accurate translation, but he also gives full explanation of each verse. They are divided into 114 chapters (surahs) and you could listen t them all. His tafaseer is honestly one of the best I know of. If you want to learn quranic arabic, I recommend your local masjid or good website. Salam.
@weirjf definitely check out bayyinah.com and if I were you I would send an email to professor of Arabic Nouman Khan and pose this question to him. To contact Nouman, just visit bayyinah.com/contact-us/
For anyone who says the Quran was fabricated and made up, simply read a short sample and you'll see right away that no man could have ever made anything like this

Very good lecture, but there are over 300 other miracles associated with the Prophet (saw). The difference of the Quran is that the other miracles are limited to their space and time BUT the Quran is an eternal living miracle. THAT is the key difference.
Subhan'Allah. When Brother Nouman started to list the excuses ppl make in not learning arabic; I felt deeply ashamed and it really is disappointing to realise that I don't fully understand what I am reciting during salah- whenever that may occur. May Allah (SWT) help us all in learning Arabic and fully appreciating the Qur'an so our hearts fill with noor. Ameen
I'm Malaysian and most of us are taught to read the quran real early in life. So we become adults who can read the quran with proper tajweed. It's been years since I realized how funny it is that I can read something really well, without any problems, but not understand a single word of it. I will start learning arabic now.
Informative and clear presentation. That what we need in USA today in addition to the knowledge of the Qur'an: clarity of pronunciation and multi knowledge of Arabic, Urdu, and English language. Baraka Allah...
May Allah make us understand and make it easy for us to actually act upon it and give Nouman Ali Khan Jazaa-e-Khair for giving us such a beautiful lectures.
You could also check out open burhan website, which has the quran, and you can click the terms to easily find out the meanings. Which links to "Word-by-Word Grammar corpus quran" and that has the word by word list of the quran. As well as project root list which has Lanes Lexicon. But I sure want to take that intensive Bayyinah course.
Wasalaam. Masha'Allah, may Allah swt make her transition into Islam simple. I think the best way of her learning would be to actually attend a class with a good teacher. That's traditionally the best way to learn any language. Your local mosque should have the resources to do this if you contact them.
No... the traditional method to learn from those who know and teach those who don't. Of course the best way of understanding a language is by living among the people. For those who cannot do that, you have to keep link with those who do, and aim to speak it at home.
@TheCyoruk he's giving an arabic course.. google it.. bayyinah institute dream program.. and btw.. he doesn't have to say.. it's up to you...to go and look.
6:20 I disagree with brother Nouman. I think human beings follow other human beings as most people cannot digest the concept of an all mighty and all powerful god. People do things because someone else did it, and it made sense and brought some worldy fruitition, rather than because god told them to do it. In time of course some develop taqwa and we realise that those commands are from higher above. It is only then that we surrender to Allah swt. .
Alhamdulillah a fantastic lecture! The lecturer is very good mashAllah. I understand a lot better how important it is to learn Arabic to understand the Quran and fully appreciate its beauty.
hi Wkern07. It's best to get one of those things where they teach you to learn a certain language thru a cd. Or perhaps thru youtube itself. Have you tried searching for vids? For starting, here's something for you --> Kaifa haal? (how are you?), Ana be-khair (i'm good), shukran (thank you), tamaam (that's good)... =)
From an Orthodox Christian ... Respect Islam, Respect Quran ! But I have one great enemy hwo allmost will destroy the christianity and islam. The kabir shaitan
it translates to "What God has willed!' - this phrase is used when admiring or praising something or someone, in recognition that all good things come from God and are blessings from Him. For example: "What a cute baby, masha'Allah!"
ya exactly..... We guys never say WOW What a cute baby Yo...etc..
instead we follow the devine ways in our lives, but sad to see many dont follow this majestic path and they don't know its value n legacy, instead they follow something called "modern western culture"
@khalifahklothing Salam Brother I am 100% agree with my Brother and look for something for my children where my child can read Quran like what my Brother says. Please guide me Where I and my children get the real Islamic Education.
@rumov606 Masha Allaah is an Arabic phrase that expresses appreciation, joy, praise or thankfulness for an event or person that was just mentioned. Towards this, it is used as an expression of respect, while at the same time serving as a reminder that all accomplishments are so achieved by the will of God. The closest literal English translation is "God has willed it" . It is said upon hearing good news>
learn one word everyday.. and understand the word and learn pronounce it good and dare yourself to use it in your conversation with native arabs...
the methode i had in boearding school Indonesia was more intensive we learn lots of vocabulary every morning out of the class before breakfast and in class we learned to use all those vocabularies and made various sentences from those words and we're not allowed to speak any indonesian 24/7 not even a word we get punished when we did and it works !!
Masha Allah Alhamdulillah i already learned arabic sinced i was 11 y.o when i was in Indonesia in boarding school and it's really beautiful to understand Al-Quran and Al-Hadits
it must be nice to bull shit about islam and how grea it is when u have full poket and nothing to worry about it! but wait hold on.... let me guess.... GOD! has hooked u up with all that walth.... fucking assholes! and fuck ur fagy messanger he's th one who had sex with young girls and then he's all like i don't want women and money!...... arrr!! u make me sick!

I can take jokes, I love jokes, and nothing makes me laugh like a good joke. But whenever someone leaves a joke of bad taste like you did I get obligated to reply in the same manner.
not really worth it ..ive read the koran ..fuck me what boring read ,and its full of shit ..it s the tom and jerry of the book world.. cartoon action hahhahah
The glorious Qur'an: "O you who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a sin." [Sûrah al-Hujurât: 12]
If a person's error is clearly manifest and established by solid evidence, it is not wrong to warn people directly against the error and clarify the truth in a gentle way.The mistake itself should be corrected without delving into anything beyond that. For example, the person who made the mistake should not be accused of having bad intentions or an evil motive.
I think he is aplifying something for nothing. By the time you achieve what he is insinuating..., what about the knowledge of what God is saying in the Quran.. which is more important than knowing the Arabic language. Muslims should be careful of what they say... if you say... you can not translate the Quran to what God is saying......then you would be saying... it has no meaning.
desertstorm991:Why do u non believers take a historian (which is wrong according to facts, she was over 18years of age)as though its a revelation from your lord..,but the rest of the the truth u neglect?. I bet you believe the incest(written by historians, which is a lie!)committed by the Prophets in the bible. There are many clips on YouTube that will prove to you she was not 9, but u don 't want to know that.. do u?.u r sick 4 harbouring sick lies(fantasies) in your heart as though its a fact.
It seems a fairly culturally nationalistic stance to take; ie. "learn this language, because god (sic.) chose this language, and therefore it's perfect." The point on what I presume is in relation to cases is very weak, and has nothing to do with loss of understanding linguistically. Furthermore, there is deffinitely a difference in English between being "annoyed", "angry" and "enraged". Belief to the countrary is simply eronous.
yes I was lucky enough to attend one of his lectures, he came to my university around the time I converted to Islam and I got to ask him some questions and received the best answer from him. He is very modest, he never looked me in the eyes but we had pizza with him and the only thing i didnt like is that he didnt say anything when the men took the table to eat on but the women had to sit in a group on the floor or stand up and eat. I didnt like that too much..
Well that wasn't polite threatment from the boys was it? When I was on a similar lecture with Abdur Raheem Green and we ate pizza and the women got tables and chairs and if one of them lacked one, one of the guys would give them their seat.
I hope the event you went through wasn't/isn't a norm in the American-muslim society....
Abdur Raheem Green goes straight by the book. He would never go for letting the mothers of the believers sitting on the floor! Plus he is a little more knowledgable on Islam than N. Ali Khan, Khan is still a rookie amongst our sunni scholars
how am I not a mother of the belivers? The prophet referred to muslim women as such. Not just muslim women who lived in the 7th century lol. And no one ever said he would sit with the women, since when has it been sunnah for women to sit on the floor while men sit in chairs? If the prophet was alive today what do you think he would have thought about that knowing the sensitivity of his manners? I know for a fact he would not let that happen. So if you argue with me you argue with the prophet
How are you a MOTHER of the BELIEVERS. You proclaim it is in a hadith, so please give us the reference. Listen to me, the Sunnah of the prophet was that he NEVER sat at a table, and EVERYONE sat on the floor. I'm not saying it was right for the brother to let the girls sit on the floor and the boys sit on the table.
And please don't liken your argument to the argument of the Prophet. That is utterly ridiculous that you would actually think that.
Sister, mothers of the believers are the holy prophet's purified wives, may Allah be pleased with them all and grant them highest position in paradise. You can be a sister of the believers, not the mother. Correct me with proof if I'm wrong. My only intention is to help you correct yourself, as we all make mistakes, and please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but please also do bring evidence to the table :)
You know ... it's from the Sunnah to cover the shortcomings of our brothers and sisters. So we should try to do that at all times .. Insha'Allah. We shouldn't post it on internet where tens of thousands of people can read it. May Allah forgive me if I have said anything wrong. All the good is from Him and all the bad from me.
Firstly, you're wrong about Isaac being "father of the Jews". the term Jew was not coined till centuries later named after the descendants of Abraham's great grand son, Yehuda aka Judah. (Yehud means Jew in Hebrew) Abraham is referred to as an Ivri--A hebrew--And consequently the father of the religion which would stem from these Hebrews--yehuding. (Jews) Not only was Ishmael the son of Abraham the Hebrew, but Ishmael itself is hebrew! it means "God will listen" (Yishma El) A beautiful name...
A typical jewish superiority complex from Dreejk! Historically Arabs and Israelis descended from Abraham. Isaac was father of Jews and Ishmael father of half of the Arabs. Regardless the Quran coming after the Torah doesnt mean the Arabic lang was non-existence pre- Abraham. Half the Arabs didn't descend from Abraham and infact Israelites appeared after Jacob. HolyQuran says Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Chrisitian. Therefore, neither hebrew
Secondly, primitive Mesopotamian dialects which even predate the Hebrew of the Torah are nothing like Arabic. The earliest texts in Proto-Arabic, or Ancient North Arabian, are the Hasaean inscriptions of eastern Saudi Arabia, from the 8th century BC, written not even in the modern Arabic alphabet, nor in its Nabataean ancestor, but in variants of the epigraphic South Arabian musnad. Once again, the Torah--composed of Ancient Hebrew, was written Millenia before the Quran....
Biblical Hebrew (Ivrit) is the most profound language, from which many (if not most) Arabic words or roots are derived.
for example, "Asslam Alaikum" "peace unto you"
is very closely related to "Shalom Aleichem" which means the same thing in Hebrew. The Torah, of which the Koran speaks very well and acknowledges as authentic revelations given to other prophets of The One God,
was physically written down millennia before the Koran.
lol, Actually Arabic and Hebrew were once the same language (proto-Semitic), these 2 languages evolved from the same language. So Arabic DOES NOT borrow its roots from Hebrew.
Anyhow Arabic is much more beautiful than Hebrew, "Assalamu Alaikum" beats "Shalom Aliechem" in anybodys books.
well iv checked out this guys website, and these arabic courses arent free incase you thought they were, and their is a major financial incentive involved and its not as cheap as you think never the less it is a good course, just a little pricey for the eager broke student.
These courses are not pricey. I just took the 10-day course for $100.00 at MCA Santa Clara, CA. it was so much worth it. There were some students who couldn't afford it so they were taken care of Alhamdulillah.
I took the course back Nov 97 it is very good Mshallah for the one who did not know any Arabic grammar it explain a lot in English , I preferred the method of more Arabic like the Maad when it was open back in the DAy

ShuiJingDau 2 years ago 3
No... the traditional method to learn from those who know and teach those who don't. Of course the best way of understanding a language is by living among the people. For those who cannot do that, you have to keep link with those who do, and aim to speak it at home.

It is only then that we surrender to Allah swt. .

rumov606 2 years ago 10
it translates to "What God has willed!' - this phrase is used when admiring or praising something or someone, in recognition that all good things come from God and are blessings from Him. For example: "What a cute baby, masha'Allah!"
khalifahklothing 2 years ago 33
@khalifahklothing
ya exactly..... We guys never say WOW What a cute baby Yo...etc..
instead we follow the devine ways in our lives, but sad to see many dont follow this majestic path and they don't know its value n legacy, instead they follow something called "modern western culture"

Masha Allah means what Allah wills (to happen, etc). Masha basically means want or will. Allah knows best. =)

@rumov606 the meaning is thanks to Allah something like Alhamdulillah
ruh303 1 year ago
@rumov606 Masha Allaah is an Arabic phrase that expresses appreciation, joy, praise or thankfulness for an event or person that was just mentioned. Towards this, it is used as an expression of respect, while at the same time serving as a reminder that all accomplishments are so achieved by the will of God. The closest literal English translation is "God has willed it" . It is said upon hearing good news>

For example, the person who made the mistake should not be accused of having bad intentions or an evil motive.
limraslimras 2 years ago 2
I think he is aplifying something for nothing. By the time you achieve what he is insinuating..., what about the knowledge of what God is saying in the Quran.. which is more important than knowing the Arabic language. Muslims should be careful of what they say... if you say... you can not translate the Quran to what God is saying......then you would be saying... it has no meaning.

Asalaam alikum deeba123,
Please do not ever defend Islam or the prophet (pbuh) with such language. It is better to walk away if you are angry than to do such thing.
The Prophet (pbuh) is in no dire need for such defense. May Allah guide and forgive us all.

desertstorm991:Why do u non believers take a historian (which is wrong according to facts, she was over 18years of age)as though its a revelation from your lord..,but the rest of the the truth u neglect?. greenplanets 2 years ago

Why wont he come to Europe?
He is great, we need one like him here
Baxary 2 years ago 5
yes I was lucky enough to attend one of his lectures, he came to my university around the time I converted to Islam and I got to ask him some questions and received the best answer from him. He is very modest, he never looked me in the eyes but we had pizza with him and the only thing i didnt like is that he didnt say anything when the men took the table to eat on but the women had to sit in a group on the floor or stand up and eat. I didnt like that too much..
hijabiflower 2 years ago
Well that wasn't polite threatment from the boys was it? When I was on a similar lecture with Abdur Raheem Green and we ate pizza and the women got tables and chairs and if one of them lacked one, one of the guys would give them their seat.
I hope the event you went through wasn't/isn't a norm in the American-muslim society....
Baxary 2 years ago 2
lol no it isnt.. just in that event
hijabiflower 2 years ago
Abdur Raheem Green goes straight by the book. He would never go for letting the mothers of the believers sitting on the floor! Plus he is a little more knowledgable on Islam than N. Ali Khan, Khan is still a rookie amongst our sunni scholars
hijabiflower 2 years ago
as salamu alaykum,
I don't understand what your saying...
Perhaps I'm confused... If i am I'm sorry but i just need clarifications..
First of all, your not the mother of believers..
Second, Abdur raheem wouldn't be eating with the mother of believers.
Third, I'm almost possible all the believers at the time of the Prophet alayi salaam ate sitting on the floor..
And no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes even if he is a vet amongst your sunni scholars.
Barak allahu feek..
AbulHasanYahya 2 years ago
how am I not a mother of the belivers? The prophet referred to muslim women as such. Not just muslim women who lived in the 7th century lol. And no one ever said he would sit with the women, since when has it been sunnah for women to sit on the floor while men sit in chairs? If the prophet was alive today what do you think he would have thought about that knowing the sensitivity of his manners? I know for a fact he would not let that happen. So if you argue with me you argue with the prophet
hijabiflower 2 years ago
How are you a MOTHER of the BELIEVERS. You proclaim it is in a hadith, so please give us the reference. Listen to me, the Sunnah of the prophet was that he NEVER sat at a table, and EVERYONE sat on the floor. I'm not saying it was right for the brother to let the girls sit on the floor and the boys sit on the table.
And please don't liken your argument to the argument of the Prophet. That is utterly ridiculous that you would actually think that.
Allah says, WA AZWAJAHO UMAHATOHOM..
AbulHasanYahya 2 years ago 2
Sister, mothers of the believers are the holy prophet's purified wives, may Allah be pleased with them all and grant them highest position in paradise. You can be a sister of the believers, not the mother. Correct me with proof if I'm wrong. My only intention is to help you correct yourself, as we all make mistakes, and please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but please also do bring evidence to the table :)
umarfarooq84 2 years ago 2
Assalamo Alaikom dear sister,
You know ... it's from the Sunnah to cover the shortcomings of our brothers and sisters. So we should try to do that at all times .. Insha'Allah. We shouldn't post it on internet where tens of thousands of people can read it. May Allah forgive me if I have said anything wrong. All the good is from Him and all the bad from me.
Salaam Alaikom

Firstly, you're wrong about Isaac being "father of the Jews". the term Jew was not coined till centuries later named after the descendants of Abraham's great grand son, Yehuda aka Judah. (Yehud means Jew in Hebrew) Abraham is referred to as an Ivri--A hebrew--And consequently the father of the religion which would stem from these Hebrews--yehuding. (Jews) Not only was Ishmael the son of Abraham the Hebrew, but Ishmael itself is hebrew! it means "God will listen" (Yishma El) A beautiful name...
dreejk 2 years ago
A typical jewish superiority complex from Dreejk! Historically Arabs and Israelis descended from Abraham. Isaac was father of Jews and Ishmael father of half of the Arabs. Regardless the Quran coming after the Torah doesnt mean the Arabic lang was non-existence pre- Abraham. Half the Arabs didn't descend from Abraham and infact Israelites appeared after Jacob. HolyQuran says Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Chrisitian. Therefore, neither hebrew
lang nor jews or Israelis existed pre-Abraham.

You gotta learn Arabic
You gotta know the enemy.
ZoomBFX 3 years ago
Secondly, primitive Mesopotamian dialects which even predate the Hebrew of the Torah are nothing like Arabic. The earliest texts in Proto-Arabic, or Ancient North Arabian, are the Hasaean inscriptions of eastern Saudi Arabia, from the 8th century BC, written not even in the modern Arabic alphabet, nor in its Nabataean ancestor, but in variants of the epigraphic South Arabian musnad. Once again, the Torah--composed of Ancient Hebrew, was written Millenia before the Quran....
dreejk 2 years ago
yes definitely! This is how a lot of racism can be solved promote knowledge through ill construed ideas-My bad in EASY language
Let people believe they are learning "enemy tactics" they will InshaAllah learn the wonderful beauty of the Qur'an InshaAllah
HollyGOrtega1 2 years ago 4
Biblical Hebrew (Ivrit) is the most profound language, from which many (if not most) Arabic words or roots are derived.
for example, "Asslam Alaikum" "peace unto you"
is very closely related to "Shalom Aleichem" which means the same thing in Hebrew. The Torah, of which the Koran speaks very well and acknowledges as authentic revelations given to other prophets of The One God,
was physically written down millennia before the Koran.
dreejk 3 years ago
Biblical Hebrew is a dead language isn't it ?
and Torah has been corrupted .
anatoxin 3 years ago 16
lol, Actually Arabic and Hebrew were once the same language (proto-Semitic), these 2 languages evolved from the same language. So Arabic DOES NOT borrow its roots from Hebrew.
Anyhow Arabic is much more beautiful than Hebrew, "Assalamu Alaikum" beats "Shalom Aliechem" in anybodys books.
