@TR0jAX You can record 4 tracks (up to 10 with "track bouncing" function). The display has lights for track 1 to 4 and two for the complete stereo signal (left and right). The additional mixer channels are for stereo signals that can be sent to the master output while playing back the four recorded tracks. Back then MIDI sequencers were synchronized to tape machines (with a Yamaha YMC10 or similar). So you didn't have to record synths and drum machines on tape (more free tracks for vocals etc.).
Also, understand the track was recorded on magnetic tape, and when you start pushing the recording levels up a natural compression occurs anyway... and DBX noise reduction is in place.
:D... got the same thing.. the sound is sooo great.. just for example: record some bassdrum like tr 808.. burn up that bass eq and watch your headphone explode:P
Hey, do you have any clue why mine is tape recording reversed ? (it's old and not working perfectly well)

Cool music. Growing up using tape, it has a special appeal despite how much technology has advanced since then.

@TR0jAX cant speak for the OP, but likely its the natural tape compression you hear.
