  • i love the Office

  • I think lian li is from taiwan not china

  • Taiwan

  • yep, Taiwan

  • I am buying this case but curious how to remove the tray is it just riveted in or something funky going on? i have ordered a Vid card (5870) and want to utiliz the airflow from the 120 in front to blow on the card since Im air cooling the system I also want to keep the harddrive cool but if I remove the harddrive bay , its gonna leave me with one area to mount the external 3.5 bay ,,, so either I find some fan solution to blow on the drive or it just remains untouched. quite the delihmna

  • do you still recommend this case for modding

  • Yes!

  • Do You Still Recommend This Case

  • I got two cases from the high school here in town, schools usually have something laying around and taking up space, so if you go to the schools in your area you might be lucky enough to get a computer case. I even got two 21" flatscreens.

  • out of the box (no mods) do u think the cooling is sufficient for the latest cpu's/gpu's?

  • Yes!

  • what size fan can be out on the top of the case ?

  • 120mm

  • If you really wanted, you could use screws to replace the rivets.

  • I just bought the PC-7B PLUS II for $87 Canadian. I was really torn between this case and the newer PC-A05NB, But because of air flow issues I went with the PC-7B PLUS II, I hope I made the right choice. This case been around for a very long time, there has to of been at least 3 revisions, and it seems like the first review I saw is dated 2002? Does any one know of any Canadian sources for thumb screws to fit this case? and can a dremel be used by itself to cut out a nice looking window?

  • M3 thread thumbscrew. Check out the Dremel Techniques videos we posted on our Youtube page, and wear safety glasses :)

  • M3 thread for thumbscrew. We posted video guide for using a Dremel to make a window no our Youtube page :)

  • Hi, I have a LIAN LI PC-7B PLUS II on order right now and I notice everyone seem to use a jigsaw for modding cases. But, I don't own a jigsaw. Being all aluminum how hard would it be to do a window mod on this case with just a dremel? Straight cuts and / or curved corners ect?

  • Hey everybody! Thanks again for watching and commenting! we have lots of cool cases and mods, visit our site

  • Is this still your case of choice, being that so many new cases have upped there standards in the last year?

  • Yes!

  • Creeky floor...

  • 100 yr old warehouse studio

  • does the case fit a gtx 280? also, what model is the front fan?

  • hahaha is that the sims 2 music i hear?

  • lol, no idea, made song in garage band

  • DUNDER MIFFLIN!!!!

  • Yes! Thanks again for watching and commenting! we have lots of cool cases and mods, visit our site

  • do they have a removable motherboard tray version of this case, I plan to use a phase change cooler on this case. lastly how is the cable managment on this case?

  • no, sorry! Thanks again for watching and commenting! we have lots of cool cases and mods, visit our site

    w w w mnpctech c o m

  • can you cut SECC metal with tin snips?

    lol

  • I wouldn't, use dremel or jigsaw,

  • Lian Li PC-A09B is sexier.

  • Is the IO port thing on the front removable? and is it possible to mount 2 x 120mm fans on the front under the 3.5" drive bays?

    Thanks

  • Is it possible to remove the pop rivets of the top panel and replace it with screws (thumbscrews)? I have my psu cables up there and it's a pain to work with when I need to use cables.

  • no, sorry, Thanks again for watching and commenting! we have lots of cool cases and mods, visit our site

  • Does this case fit full size graphiccards (4870x2) ?

  • is this case able to fit ATi 4800 series cards? cos i've come across quite a few cases that don't fit 4800 series cards

  • it should as a standard ATX motherboard is just a little bigger than the 4870, and I doubt the optical drive bays/hard disk caddies block the motherboard. The power cables might be a pain as they come out the rear of the card not the side to cable management might be tricky in this case.

  • How many hard drives can you mount in the internal 3.5' slots?

Newegg says 2 but the picture says 3.

  • The HD bay allows 3x HDs :)

  • Thank you for your answer.

  • Does it have 2 120 mm fans? Or 1 80 mm and 1 120 mm?

  • I has 2 x 120 mm and 1 x 80 mm

1 120 mm intake in front

1 120 mm exhuast at back

1 80 mm exhaust on roof

  • What the hell :P I get -1 for asking a question XD ... That is new to me

  • haha the office. :)

  • do u think it would be easier to put screws with nuts on the ends instead of pop rivets just because you can easily take them off and put it back on, just a thought though

what other cases do you enjoy doing mods with???

  • Depends how often you need to dismantle everything. pop rivets are faster.

  • You really look like Jay "Dutch" Karnes from the TV show, The Shield hehe

  • where can i find this case? I cant find it on newegg. They have the Lian Li PC-7B plus II. Dont know how different it is or should i get the PC-8 which is the updated one?

  • 7B-plus II is same case :)

  • I'm thinking about buying this case to replace my CM 541, Does this case accommodate a mATX form Motherboard?

  • Yes, watch the Spirit of the Tiger Dragon video project, we installed ASUS MATX in this this case :)

  • I've just ordered a PC-A7010 from Silverpcs (they sell the Lian Li line). And I wholeheartedly recommend them: I wanted a top panel with 2x120mm exhaust fans on the top. However, this was only available for the PC-7x. BUT, Daniel from silverpcs called me not only to mention that I'd be waisting $, but also to propose to take the original top panel and himself mod it so that I can have the 2 required fans, charging me as if I've ordered the optional top panel with 2 fans made for the other model!

  • MonsterMawd what tools do you use to cut round on top panel for 120mm fan?

  • 4.5" hole saw attachment on power drill, or greenlee knockout punch

  • how do u prep a anodized case for paint

  • I'm reviewing the Antec Three Hundred this week, stay tuned!

  • My mod is done , it's in your video responses , hope you like it , Thank you Bill and i can hardly wait your next video .

  • Thanks ever so much for the video.

Been searching the net for something like this.

I have a PC-7 Plus, and I've had it now for a year, and I have decided to mod it. I want to paint it illuminous orange. But.. I am clued up on how to prep the case for standard paint. Is there a way to get rid of the anodized surface?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jake

  • I just bught a Lian Li PC 7 plus II , great case for modding , when it's done i will post a video response to this video . Thank you Bill for sharing your experience with us . I can hardly wait your next video . Please excuse my poor english i am from a country far , far away . Keep up the good work !!!

  • whats the opening song?

  • I composed it in Apple Garageband program

  • where do you get this case? in canada, toronto, markham?

  • Just bought my pc7rev 3(i know it does´nt exist, it´s a manufacturer´s mod that comes with screwless hdd mount and stuff like that, i now i´m late lool, the case is almost discontinued and i´m buying it ...:).

I had the oportunity to see one in action(yes, see, because i can´t hear anything from the inside :)), very nice considering the pc i´m talking about is air cooled and the person that assembled it took no extra care at all.

    Very nice case!

  • nice video, i am about to start my first mod ;)

this case seems to be a good option.

  • Hey MonsterMawd, this is not a mod question but is there anyway i can clean the power supply fan and other components of my pc. Because it is too dusty inside and i dont wanna risk anything (like getting static or anything). And i feel the performance is going down due to it.

  • propaganda...

  • This what I look at a case before I can recomend it. I look at a simple and excellent case interior, simple looks and ease of moddimg.

  • i heard you saying aluminum is nice to cut.. just curious, are the heavier steel side panels harder to cut?

  • Yes jay.

  • Hi when you cut an aluminium side panel, do you use a jigsaw

  • yes, goto my youtube page, I have a video on how

to make your own case window

  • MonsterMawd what dissin software do you use

    to mod your cases?

  • I don't use software, I use a workbench and TOOLS :)

  • is this a nice case for casemod?

  • Yes! :)

  • i really like the case but can you tell me the name of the song

  • I did the song in garageband

  • the pc-7 plus sold in australia has the MB tray and removable cage and a shed load of thumb screws. however it doesnt have the filter at the front. you cant beat this case.

  • I can see why now Velocity Micro has been using this case for so long. It's a really nice case but I still prefer my Lian Li V2100B.

  • yeah the Lian LI 7 plus is the best case to mod i want one but its expensive omg..i don't want to spend to much on a case, more money on modding stuff

  • Yet another brilliant vid bill but i wouldant expect anything different :). o and you really need to fix that squeeky floor board in your work shop lol.

  • lol, the floor is 100 years old.

  • haha great shirt!

  • these videos are probably the most watched pc mods in here.

  • what size(metric) is that dill you used?

  • Once again a useful and entertaining video. Thanks. :D

  • Lol. You guys changed the name of the video.

  • Haha! just playin wit ya ;)

  • Rofl Did it again.

This video actually seems like a case review, even to an average power user.

But you did a good job on it Bill.

    Let's see more of these.

  • Thanks for the feedback. We're going to be working with some resellers in offering our custom painting service for their cases. I'll be sure to share another "dissection" of one of these cases with you :)

  • Could you please do a "dissection" on the Lian Li V2100B???

  • Sure, Can you send me one?

  • great review, always been a fan of the videos.

How are the stock fans? noise wise especially, its always a plus to spend the money for a new case and not need more fans.

  • Thanks for watching! They're not bad at all. I will remember to post the fan specs for you guys when I get back to the shop

  • why buying old case? you can get them for free, as much as you need, just go to nearest junkyard

  • well said :D

  • Cool!

  • thank you for answering.cool but i saw on mod where you used a can of paint. it was on an orange computer.

  • I don't recommend baking aerosol paint. The fumes are toxic. If you want to paint your case, goto the link above, then to CaseMod Tutorials/Worklogs, then "Spray Paint Your Case"

  • thank you. so if i get a can of paint i wont have to cook it. thank you your videos are great.

  • looks awesome bill

  • niiiiiice

  • That looks like a really easy case to work with. The first case I sprayed had that glue stuff all over the LED's and switches it was bloody annoying.

I'm really looking forward to my next project because I just bought a black and decker mouse sander (because you recommended it) and a dremel I can't wait to finally work with some power hoh hoh hoh hoh.

  • you're awesome bill :D

  • The beige case he has in the begining is a case made by enlight and just happend to be my fist case mod! lol

  • sweet! it's a nice little project case :)

  • its topic number 2227 in the forums!

  • awsome video am happy to comment first and once i start modding will send you pics. Am hoping to one day have my own electronics store.

  • Thank you. Follow your dreams!

  • Nice video Bill

  • Thank you. It's different from a standard case review. I welcome manufacturers to send me their new cases for my dissection.

  • dude when you paint the case do you bake the paint. i was wondering that. what kind of paint do you use.

the case looks good i think i will by one for my new project.

  • You mean powdercoating. This is done by a professional service. The paint comes in power form, applied with special gun, then baked on in a industrial oven at 340F. Powdercoating is ideal for coating the chassis. It doesn't scratch or knick easy. You can find Powdercoaters in your local phone listing under "Metal Finishing" Prices for us have ranged from $60 - $80 for the chassis alone to $125 - $150 to do the entire case.

  • Bill show me some good ideas for modding this case, I have it in black.

  • Have you seen our YouTube video for the "Full Metal Alchemist" Tribute PC? it's the same case.

Tom made a custom window, top blowhole, custom intake grill.

  • Good video. Thanks. That case is a bit expensive do.

  • $89.99 is a good price for a high quality aluminum case.

  • nice guys, i have that case... I think. : D
