bah why do you fill your glasses that hig and ice? no pro adds Ice... go and watch ralfy instead.... doesnt taste peaty at all dinner flavour? scotch is not irish whiskey that is smoked bah
Not necessarily. The basic Bushmills is the youngest product in the line and young whiskeys often have a roughness that is tamed with a little water or ice.
PS... the only technical difference between Irish whiskey and scotch whisky is that one is made in Scotland and one is made in Ireland. In Ireland, they make peated whiskey, grain whiskey, unpeated whiskey, double distilled whiskey, triple distilled whiskey and, most importantly, a unique style called pure pot still Irish whiskey. The last one is made from a mash of malted and unmalted whiskey, and there are only really two brands being produced today - Redbreast and Green Spot.
I am a firm believer that real whisky is never spelled with an "E". Even the U.S. Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits, Congress spells it "whisky.". Now I do enjoy an American Burbon now and again, but as you know...All bourbons are whiskey, but not all whiskeys are bourbon. Good to see you guys are more than beer reviewers.

Wouldn`t ice in such a light whiskey ruin the flavor? I mean it is REALLY light in flavor and color.

There are some peated Irish whiskies - like the Connemara or the Locke's 8. This would be the entry level Bushmills... Nice, but made for mixing.
Bushmills says it's the oldest distillery in the world, but Kilbeggan in Ireland is older...
I'd recommend, for a fuller flavour Irish, you try Jameson 12, Redbreast 12 or Redbreast 15.
