  • Hey i just got one of these and i can only get about three sounds on it. Did you make these patches or are they pre-sets?

  • @MrStevon123 Most likely, you just need to send the factory defaults tape dump into it. And if your Poly-800 is not keeping your patches after power off then you might want to open it up and replace the CR2032 battery (or install one if it doesn't have one at all). I would join the korgpolyex yahoo group too because there are lots of fellow Poly-800 owners who can share patches and hints and tips with you.

  • why anyone ever suggested making an analog synth without hands knobs and sliders for everything I don't get. I hate my juno-D for the because of the stupid click menus. BUT I like how this one sounds and it's not that expensive. The lack of knobs and stuff just ruins it at bit. A shame.

  • Korg should have made the MicroKorg using the Poly-800 full size keys and interface, it would have been much better.. this is definitely better than MicroKorg in terms of real analog sound.

  • The Poly's interface is not easy to program, by far. If you want a microKORG that has hands-on programming capabilities and a humanly sized keyboard, check out the MS2000-Exactly same engine, a much better user interface.

  • Could you implement an arpeggiator? Or swap the built in sequencer into one?

It would be a very useful expansion.

  • Yes I can! Right now, the sequencer is undergoing some redevelopment to make it more useful (multiple tracks and much better step editing, as well a real time switching from one track to another). After that I will be implementing an arpeggiator. All of this should be completed this year (2010).

  • @korgpolyex800 Hi, I wanted to ask, if you succeeded in implementing an arpeggiator...

  • @AnalogAudio1 - yes, I have implemented an arpeggiator. I have NOT released the software yet since I am still testing it. It won't be long now. I am aiming to release the new software in May.

  • is this better than a microkorg?

  • well, the MicroKorg does quite a few things that the HAWK-800 doesn't. On the other hand, the HAWK-800 does quite a few things that the MicroKorg doesn't. So I guess it depends on what sounds and features you're looking for.

  • microkorg looks pretty horrible but does a lot

this has proper keys and analogue though

  • I used to have one of these! ! Is there a web-site the details this mod? I may buy another if I don't buy this Korg N5 my buddy has.....

  • the web site is dub dub dub doht hawk800 doht c0m. If you don't have soldering experience then I do a mail in upgrade service where you send the main board from the Poly-800 to me and I do the difficult work for you for a reasonable charge.

  • Quite a versatile synth for its original cost

  • And I just finished a new version of the software that includes MIDI velocity sensitivity!

  • I want one. sounds much better than my microkorg.

  • How extensive a mod is it?

  • You have to remove one 16 pin chip and the 28 pin EPROM socket. Other than that, it is quite a manageable mod for anyone that is good with a soldering iron.

  • Awesome diabolical devices just did a filter/rez mod on the desktop version of this, I wonder if they'll do on of the full poly 800 cause I want one so bad!

  • I've seen diabolical devices do the filter/rez mod on quite a few Poly-800's but I think my mod is much, much better. :-)

  • that is a full sound and always more))))))))))9

  • nice

  • good sound!!
