  • He is so very talented. I've seen him in concert three times. He never gets old. He's awesome!

  • Haha he plays this over the half of my heart tune

  • It take balls to sing this song if you're not Steve Perry. I never was a Journey fan but man, those guys were talented. Not many sing better than S.P. I had a co-worker that used to joke that Steve Perry didn't have a heart.....or stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, etc. He said that Perry had a torso comprised of only lungs. How else could he belt-out those songs?

  • there needs to be a heavy metal hardcore version of this song!

  • the way he's addressing the crowd reminds me of Sly at Woodstock.

  • ilove is tutorial preludes to his songs.....he's awesome flippin awesome man

  • I love how this song fits perfectly over the chords to 'Half Of My Heart' !

  • Awesome!!! I love John Mayer and he's playing the same Rick Turner guitar that Lindsey Buckingham (other favorite musician) plays!!!

  • lindo demais... amooooooooooooo (L)

  • Hahaha!! the scream at 1:41

  • @CoIeMusic I have one video of Bon Jovi where I have a voice screaming "Richie I love youuuuuuu!"...lol I'm now FB friends with that person! It's in "Blood On Blood" when they performed a free show on the beach at Gulf Shores. There are also plenty of screams in that video...lol Another Jon that has it going on!

  • 1:42 (Screams and then passes out.)

  • Hottest man alive.

  • Its SO much easier singing along to John Mayer than Steve Perry...cool cover though!

  • Love him so so much!!!!

  • hahahaha yes this is good stuff

  • Give me a Damn reason that I would Dislike John Mate and his talent !

  • Anyone can comment on my videos but negative comments will be removed because if you don't like the person or band, don't watch!

  • @makispoll With my PHONE? LOL! And I will post MY videos as I please. If you consider a video mediocre, may I suggest you act like an adult and don't watch.Do you want to insult the videos of my granddaughter as well?

  • He got some words wrong, but it's okay because he's amazing. :D

  • @ebbette He really does! Within the first couple seconds it hit me and I was surprised how spot on it was...and he probably doesn't even realize it!

  • Why was he channeling Mitch Hedberg at the beginning?

  • PERFECT!

  • oh my

great version and again omg his arms ... =p

  • Did he start playing half of my heart at the end?

  • @colinL9 the whole thing was half of my heart, it's just he sang the lyrics to don't stop believing

  • @ebbette when did he say the thing about "half of my heart" it's pretty funny (:

  • @nicoleexxmariee He mentioned only doing it a few more times at a few of the shows I saw last year (saw 5) but in September, in Orange Beach and Atlanta, he'd hurt his back and was on some really good pain meds and I think it was the Atlanta show he went on and on about it even saying something about a Situation bobble head doll and trying to flush it down the toilet...lol

  • @ebbette LOL! Thank you! That's just another reason to love JM.

  • @nicoleexxmariee What made me mad at myself was I thought I was recording the story he was telling and then I look at my camera and it's on standby! GRRR!

  • @antony5linteau yeah, its the same chord progression Bb F C Dm

  • i didn't know my ticket to this concert, included one to the gun show ;) haha

  • F' ing awesome....he can sing anything and sound soooooooooo damn good!!!!!!

  • Does he ever stop? no he doesn't. He's John Mayer

  • i dont think people respect the talent and concentration and passion it takes to pull off a performance like this, let alone come up with it

  • Damn John... You are so fucking perfect!! I cant believe you hahaha

  • he's so pale

  • you don't mess with John Mayer he's such a hustler and joker ..briliant performer, very engaging and so so enterprising .like a boss!like a king!

  • Always the entertainer.

  • @antony5linteau Its the same chords. Just try and sing Half of my Heart to it and there's your answer.

  • @thestratmanny it's not actually the same chords, journey's progression is 1-5-6minor-4 for the most part and the ones john's playing are 4-1-5, but because the melodies of both songs are diatonic the journey melody works over the half of my heart progression. just FYI!

  • @aqwillis - Agree. Glad to see some actual music theory knowledge on YouTube. I think John blended the two songs nicely, but it's definitely not the original chords to the Journey song.

  • When her first started singing the melody I was thinking OMG this is a train wreck but then I realized he was playing those chords purposely...but I guess it works...

  • lovelovelove. oh oh oh oh ohhhh ! john mayer is so talented. and thumbs up for the sleeve tattoo!

  • @ebbette at about 3:35 he plays a few chords from half of my heart. I didn't notice any similarities anywhere else, but that doesn't mean there weren't any.

  • @AryanAmerican Every time I see him he goes in and out of songs using other people's songs to lead into his own etc so I'm not surprised. He led into one of his own in Orange Beach (can't remember which one until I upload the videos) from a Traffic song but he didn't lead into the same song with the Traffic song 2 nights later in Atlanta. I love his guitar versatility.

  • @AryanAmerican - This whole rendition of Don't Stop is played using the same chords he plays in his breakdown/talk section of Half of My Heart.

  • i think he did use the same chords at half of my heart, hens the ending.

  • @Skesky04 Train opened where i saw him. Camden, NJ but Owl City opened for Maroon 5 in August and they were horrible.

  • @SJPAGxoDancer i saw train on june 11 at hard rock - biloxi and again at the wharf amphitheater the week before we saw john mayer there. i knew they toured with JM earlier in the tour but am so glad they realized they are not a warm up act!

  • @Skesky04 i saw owl city twice with JM monday and wednesday and they were okay... their music sounded all the same though...

  • he is the best I love himmmm lol :)

  • I'm sorry, but no one should cover this song.

  • @xcassiegottox i'm not a huge journey fan so i'm not sure if that's why you say no one should cover it. it was a fun sing along for the audience. in my opinion, if there was a song no one should cover, it'd be "crossroads" even though john does a decent job with it. "don't stop believin'" - 1981 hit, "crossroads" - clapton in "cream" - 1969. different times, different world...

  • @xcassiegottox You have got to admit, it's better than Glee's version

  • @Gupps0123456 Oh yeah...lol DEFINITELY!

  • @Gupps0123456 its more than better, its epic!

  • @Gupps0123456 Alsobetter than Homer Simpson's version

  • did train open his concert? bc he did for me and it was awesome :)

  • @breyergal221 no, michael franti opened for all his spring concerts. owl city will be opening with him when i see him september 6th in orange beach, AL and atlanta, GA on september 8th. i saw train at hard rock in biloxi on june 11 and i have meet and greet VIP tickets for row 2 in orange beach, AL the week before i see john mayer there. i can't imagine train being a 45 minute warm up band as they are a headliner act in my opinion! i have videos of train in biloxi here on my username.

  • @breyergal221 Train only opened for some of his shows. I saw him too and they were amazing. I know Owl City opened for some also, but I'm not sure who did the rest.

  • His concert in Cincinnati, OH, last night was absolutely amazing. He was energetic, funny, and put on an amazing show. If you have not seen this man live in concert, I would strongly suggest doing so for he lifted the spirits of every person in the croud, especially with this song.

  • @dittej59 yeah i was there too, cant agree more..absolutely amazing, especially when he came out into the crowd for the encore..it was right behind me..awesome show!!

  • I love his music so much! He's soo talented.

    (and he's hot.)

  • I saw him 2 days before this, and i think him and the band were a little tired because it wasn't the best performance i've seen him give, but still as john mayer does best he doesn't do anything short of amazing!

  • @Cbluesrocker i saw him in houston 4 days before this and in atlanta 7 days after the N.O. concert was by farm the most intense song-wise but i live seeing him in atlanta best because i lived near there when he was just getting started and he tells stories about those times in the late 90's and we all know what he's talking about - like when he told the story a few years ago why georgia. you can relate to things he talks about like traffic on certain roads etc. i'm from baton rouge though.

  • john mayer is so awesome maan!

  • I love how he said "So I can take you in"! I saw him in Houston 4 days before this one and a week later in Atlanta and all 3 had different set lists. New Orleans was by far the best of the 3 which made it even better since we were on row 5 right on front of John. In Houston, we were on row 8 to his left and in Atlanta we were on row 11 to his left. Going to see him twice in September! Oh yeahhhh!

  • @ebbette dude your so lucky. I saw him in Fargo but I wanna go again so bad. I hate Mn, no concerts around there for the summer tour..

  • @Chapiewski82 i can't wait until september, even though i liked his set list better in new orleans in march, he's always more personable in atlanta because that's where he lived when he first got his start and he tells stories and can even remember the name of apartment complexes where he lived and hwy numbers. i lived in georgia 15 years and anyone who has lived there can relate to his song "why georgia". he told a funny story a few years ago about how the song starts - on I-85.

  • @Chapiewski82 btw, it's rare to get good bands in new orleans. something about the cost of permits and taxes. i'm fortunate to have family in houston and the atlanta area and in september i'm going to see him in orange beach, AL near my in-law's condo in perdido key FL where we'll spend the weekend and then i'm heading to atlanta to see him 2 days later.

  • @ebbette man your goin on tour with him! haha. thats awesome, have fun at all those concerts! yeah i would love to see him in atlanta or the garden or LA. I'm sure its cool to listen to all his stories and im sure hes a lot more emotional when he plays there. . Not that he isn't wherever he plays.

  • amazing
