I was listening to this while my girfriend was doing something behind me, suddenly she raised and head, looked at the video and said: "That guy with the 2 tin whistles can fumble my salty bean anytime"
Oh dear... My girlfriend just looked over my shoulder to see what I was listening to, and said, "that guy on the mini-flutes can fumble my salty bean any time."
Every member doing their own thing perfectly (watch them), but the whole is SO much greater than the sum of its parts.
I had the privelige to see them at the Union Chapel (THE best venue I have ever been too) They may not be mainstream, but, by god, we need people like these to keep the torch of creative music alive.
@gerretl "whole is SO much greater than the sum of its parts" like that. when so much is depressing about the world there is music to hope and live 4
hearing this thing over and over again through headphones would be the torture at Guantanamo. it's manic!
recently i heard Music From The Penguin Cafe - i.e. Simon Jeffes' son's tribute band - play at WOMAD, and they did a version of 'Swing the cat', in which they kept stopping suddenly then starting up again at faster speeds. They got a lot faster than this, and a lot faster than the original. did anyone else see it?
funny enuff i was talking to a tibetan sherperd on neptune the other day and he made the exact same coment as gwaliamusic, except he never said it was wonderful he said it was fandabidozi, I totally agreed with him althoughI have too confess Ive no idea wat conciliatory denoument means
Not sure whether any one else will agree, but this is a lot like a Tibetan shepherd leading a big band from Neptune. I mean it's virtually note for note, not to mention the conciliatory denoument. wonderful!
I like this music very much. I especially like that it sounds like a Tibetan shepherd leading a big band from Neptune. That's all I have to say about that.
In reply to Lucy.. I'm stil smiling my whole face off dear. If ever I'm down, I come back here and watch this video. Then I can face the world again. ;+)
LOVE THIS!!!! But what makes me smile more than the music is the audience...not a toe tap amongst them!!! I would be jigging around to this, not looking all academic and serious!
Could some kind person tell me where I might find the video of the dancers that's played in the background? I'd really like to see it in it's entirety.
hey doni, the Penguin Cafe Orchestra will actually be performing 2 shows on December 11th and 12th, at The Union Chapel in London. Anyone interested can go the fansite myspace of the PCO, or just google "union chapel" and just go to the official site to get tickets.

If it weren't for their terrible haircuts I would have no idea that this music is over 20 years old.

I'm back , still playing it over and over again. Bless you Simon Jeffes and the PCO.
Anytime I'm down, this can put a smile on my face. Thanks.

The audience sure is a bunch of stiffs... heads on hands, hands folded on laps. PCO are having a blast though!! Edit | Remove

@mamuteyeah Possibly because not everyone feels the need to dance when they hear great music. I know I don't. I'd be singing, not dancing!
