I think i have commented on here before about exactly the same thing, but does anyone have a link (bearing in mind I live in the U.K) to where I can get one of those track tops john is wearing, there so sick, preferably exactly the same. Also amazing jam, john has so much soul, ear splitting solo's.
frusciante kicks in after the first guitar part, his is not as trebeled. He has the more funk feel in this jam and omar has the more mid-led zepplin/early punk sound. Great jam......damn i wish there were a video
@rickrossbach It actually sounds like Omar is playing first and then John comes in. A) if either of them has a "trebly" sound its going to be Omar, his signature guitar has a blade humbucker in the bridge. Johns tone is easily recognizable the neck pickup on the fender plus that marshall stack is undeniably him at 1:33. Johns tone is much warmer than Omars
B) even though they have somewhat similar playing styles johns I would bet 100 digital bucks that john is playing second. Almost every one of his leads in countless solos sound like that... Omar is a great player and he has his own formula for music theory in his head, but Johns sense of time and meter and melody is amazing. Plus is just sounds like him playing.
Even if im right or if your right this is just splitting atoms this jam is awesome!
For some reason, whenever I'm stressed or feeling blue, I roll a joint (makes me calm and for some reason I hear better in that state) and then listen to Frusciante's songs or jams with whomever. I always feel a lot better and get a feeling of catharsis.
@MultiTravisbickle Haven't you heard of google, man? Just search for a converter. Unless, of course, you mean you want to pay for some official recording - which probably doesn't exist.
Omar first solo, then John. You can notice the turbo distortion and also the second solo has more bass, because he´s using the nsck pickup, and Omar´s guitar only have the bridge pickup.
Actually MagicBag, I'm pretty sure John's is the second solo. You can tell because the first solo sounds just like Omars style, dissonant and unorthodox. Whereas the second solo is being played with finesse, and it sounds clean too.
@TGlel ... man.... these guys are crazy haha... if they listened to a mars volta song... and thought... oh, so this is what Omar wants to play... they'd understand what you're saying. Another side of it is that I believe that Omar can clearly play with them... but they wouldn't be able to physically add anything to Mars.
@superpoweredrapist are you retarded? that's like saying 'you should have got hendrix to replace george harrison, you can't just sub in two historically important guitarists
@TGlel just making a point, they're two guitarists who although different in style have been shown to work well together and with similar artists, this is important for any guitarist the red hot chili peppers get because they write songs by jamming so chemistry is important, the band themselves are flexible enough to work with omar's style as this video shows, so to answer your question no. I am not retarded
@superpoweredrapist@retard: i love omar; omar does not and would not function as well as john in the chili's, also most of his talents would not be utilised.
@1989Walter ahh now it's working. Thank you so much, this is awesome. I didn't realize Marcel was on stage too! Makes sense... I just listened to the entire thing twice tonight, and I swear this completely blows my mind every single time. Just pure magic between incredible human beings that I hope all get together again someday...
that was an incredible, magical, energetic night and the end jam really capped it off well!!! I believe it was their last concert in North America that year, then John cut his hair off and they did the Hump de Bump video. Great concert, loved every minute of it.
I'd say John plays a much more acessible guitar, that`s why RHCP fans like his style so much.. Omar is more about a nice heavy trip which I could recognize from miles even if I was blind and deaf .. I like both, but I'm way more into the early Mars Volta and ATDI
@magicbag6790 you're dumb. omar is doing just fine, but he's used to a completely different style of drumming. and you do realize that john wouldn't be where he is today without chad and flea, don't you?
@magicbag6790 I love it when someone says "x CLEARLY z because..." especially when it's completely unfounded and ungrounded like what you just said. lmfao at people on YouTube.
I love frusciante and none of my friends care or understand my love for him. What if all the frusciante/omar fans got together? would the guitar playing members among us create original music? or would we compete over who was the biggest fan? lol It kinda scares me to ask for "the music friend I never had" in someone, cause its either going to change my life or be completely meaningless. but yet again either way ill be better off and I could damn well use some likeminded friends.
well you see frusciante and omar have very similar styles. i love'em both, i think omar is an overall better guitar player but the listening experience that frusciante's Niandra Lades & Usually Just A T-Shirt produces is one of a kind.
At first I was like, is that john or omar? it sounds a bit like john. Then I instantly knew when john solo'd. Hes got his own unique style, I love it.
incredible first few minutes, omar sends it to another level immediately and then john comes in over him and adds another brilliant dynamic. flea's always great but he's unfortunately overpowered by them both.
One thing I like about John's solo albums, and Mars Volta albums, is that there is a lot of terrible shit on them. Some of it is just awful....But that is also why I love it...They take chances, they do different stuff. They don't sound like anyone else.
