This is really cuttet too fast. Maybe its modern for the mtv fraction, but for me it is pure pressure for my eyes. me,Bond ever wmovies. And there was Lazenby in a good movie, bit also the wrong man. I do not accept Craig,
There was a time, years ago, when continuity in editing meant something. I hated this movie because all the action scenes tried to be like the Jason Bourne films- except that here they cut so fast and so recklessly that you can't properly follow the action. Some people say it's a style, artistic, etc. Bull. It's lousy editing and bad movie making.
@shady1630 I was talking about the special effects gun that looks very unreal...if you stop the frame just before he fires you can see it is way bigger than it should be for its position compared to where Mr. Craig is ''holding it''...bad editing job...
the fact that the movie didn't open up with the gun barrel, not to mention Bond is not wearing the same suit he wore at the end of Casino Royale despite this scene taking place mere minutes after it, makes me take of mad points for Qos
Blink and you'll miss it? - That's 4:31seconds! You'll have to have a blindfold on, and be screaming! - maybe he was talking about the man in the trunk ;)
@Phil6590 This scene and the film for that matter were badly edited and the editor should have been fired i hope they don't use the same guy for the next film coz he totally screwed this whole chase scene up i still enjoyed the film but it wasn't as good as casino Royle overall.
Whoever edited this clearly thinks an Aston v Alfa car chase is so boring it needs to be made interesting by not letting any of the shots last more than 24 frames, they need a slap round the head. Has to be one of the worst chases I've ever tried to watch, pity cos from what I can make out some of the stunts might have been quite good.
Contrary to the common opinion that this scene was poorly made, I actually think it's really good. It's a bit confusing and sort of edgy, in your face like it might be if you were in the car yourself stuck in a tunnel full of people trying to kill you. All the engine sounds are great too.
He is not the real 007 bcoz in the end of casino royale he wore blue shirt when he had encounter with Mr white but here he wore white shirt,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I Love that annotated LOL at the end. The timing was perfect; as if Bond himself spewed it. But there is just something so madcap, and nonsensical about Bond using such a base form of expression.
As if some vile, and cynical doppelganger of the internet occupied his being for just a moment to perpetrate the ruse.
Personally I think it's good editing and good acting by Daniel Craig. The starting scene is the most serious of all in Bond films, Craig is also the most serious Bond ever. He is not wooden. He's just the most muscular, strong and serious. If you people like the 60's old school shit the jerky jokeful james bond why dont just eff off and watch your Sean Connery. All I know is Craig smiles less, fight more, kill harder.
I've seen Quantum of Solace on a big screen a few years ago, but it was impossible to see what was happening.
I've seen this movie lots of times, but i still don't understand the story. After On Her Majesty's Secret Service, is Quantum of Solace the worst Bond movie.
@WH250398 Great, a Daniel Craig hater. Well, Connery's 81, Lazenby's 72, Moore is 84, Dalton is 67, and Brosnan is 58. Clearly they can't come "save you." Daniel Craig is still signed on for a few more movies, so deal with it. And, as Cameroncars said, the vodka martini and bond james bond were in casino royale.
@iknownothing34 But pierce brosnan wanted to play james bond when he was 56. But daniel craig looks cool in the games. I don't hate craig. But he is just not a james bond.
@WH250398 He is not the James Bond you know from old movies. You must remember, that he first recently became 007 in Casino Royale. This movie happens shortly after that. So please keep in mind that he first has to get older and get to the same stile/class as the old/normal Bond we know.
@WH250398 Use your brain?? "Bond, James Bond" is not Daniel Craig's Bonds thing yet. He just became 007 and he is still hard, rough and with little charm. The class of Bond you know it will come later. He first has to become the Bond we know from old movies.
@recycly That's kind of the point. He's just had his heart broken by the person he loved dearly and is trying to cope with that as well as learning how to keep his professional and emotional lives separate. This is EXACTLY how Bond was written by Ian Fleming. The end of "Quantum of Solace" showed that he had finally been able to strike that balance, so we should see a more cinematically familiar Bond in "Skyfall".
@DMKelly20 I agree with DMKelly. In Octopussy, he acts very professionally when he confronts a man that murdered someone close to him. In fact the man that was killed was something of a father figure to Bond.
This is my favourite scene in the movie, the editing is brilliant, and it makes me wonder if they actually kill the actors, it looks that realistic. The directing for this is fantastic
Thank you for including the whole beginning, which means the slow crescendo of the music and that panning shot. It just hooks you in straight away. What a car chase! This for me, immediately made up for the disappointing car chase in Casino Royale (much as that film is excellent).
I liked the car chase and the feel of it with the fast paced editing skills but this was no way ever a JAMES BOND film it was an unofficial bond film labelling it a bond film. Boring film apart from this car chase.
@amarsbarr The problem is you're not taking Bond's general mindset since the last movie into thought. He's not going to be going around joking it up and having sex for the fun of it. He's just gotten his heart broken because he thinks the person he loved set him up and betrayed him. He got proven wrong over the course of the film and in the upcoming Bond film "Skyfall", you will see that Bond is becoming more like he's been portrayed, yet in a much more interesting and better way.
Where the heck were all the bad guy's bullets going? He must of fired 200 rounds! Other than a missing door, dust on his car and a few bullet holes in the windshield there is no damage to Bond's car.
@DJX187 It's made quite easier when your target is only eleven inches away. There must of been 200 rounds (at least) fired at point blank. Sorry, but Stevie Wonder could of killed Bond in that scene. Cheers!
This is one of the all time best 007 opening sequences bar none. I also love the local flava thrown into the 007 theme as he rolls into the MI6 safehouse in Siena.
did anyone notice that in casino royale bond worn a vest before the movie ended? If this is a direct sequel to like one hour after the movie, wouldn't he still have it on?
This part of the film was effectively a continualtion of Casino Royale and was far and away the best part of Quantum of Solace. The rest of the movie was probably the weakest JB ever.
I cut out the song in the video because the vid was meant to show the opening, not the song, otherwise why wouldn't I have include the bit after that, and the bit after that etc...
@MrKickyourbutt I honestly liked the way they did this part of the film in terms of editing. I felt it heightened the urgency and frantic energy of the chase.
QOS had many problems and is generally unloved...but could of at least been more watchable if it had been edited better. The director and his two editors had virtually no experience in action movies but were arty types who allowed their ego's to get the better of them.......and in turn, ruined the enjoyment of the movie for millions of people.
I mean, opening car chase cost £12 million....what awaste of the stunt cres talent. Do you agree?
@MrKickyourbutt Obviously the editor shadowed by director, the editing in this car chase is brilliant so I can see why Marc Foster approved of this cut... Does that answer your question?
@FordyFilms Actually the editing in this scene along with the rest of this film was very bad he should have been fired u can hardly see this chase scene because of the amount of over the top close ups and bad editing so on did ruin the film somewhat i hope they dont use the same editor again hopefully they learnt the lesson But its still a good scene never the less.
@hugamumfterwoof I don't even like the chase - too many close-ups and frenetic cuts. Even "The Bourne Supremacy" knew when to ease up and let you get a sense of the geography of the car chase, and there were fewer competing ingredients to that sequence to digest.
@hugamumfterwoof What about the plane chase? But I see what you mean, the movie as a whole could have been better, and those two chases were the best bits of the film.
PS: If was going to type just 17 words I would check for spelling errors or it's gonna make me look a bit dim :/
@hugamumfterwoof God I'm such a hypocrite, I made a grammatical error in that comment! Alright, disregard the PS please, it looks like I'm not really in a position to make comments about grammar....
not to complain or anything it was a great car chase but james bond's missing his vest from his attire that he wore at the ending of casino royale when he shot mr. white. but still a good chase, and just love the aston martin. too bad it had to get totaled.
I got a Speeding ticket the day I watched this Movie, on my way home from the Cinema.

@MrKickyourbutt Obviously the editor shadowed by director, the editing in this car chase is brilliant so I can see why Marc Foster approved of this cut... Does that answer your question?
FordyFilms 2 months ago
@FordyFilms Actually the editing in this scene along with the rest of this film was very bad he should have been fired u can hardly see this chase scene because of the amount of over the top close ups and bad editing so on did ruin the film somewhat i hope they dont use the same editor again hopefully they learnt the lesson But its still a good scene never the less.

@hugamumfterwoof
Yep, it sure is.

@hugamumfterwoof I don't even like the chase - too many close-ups and frenetic cuts. Even "The Bourne Supremacy" knew when to ease up and let you get a sense of the geography of the car chase, and there were fewer competing ingredients to that sequence to digest.
And to top it all off I hate that grating song!
