i read that the original name was "mrs. roosevelt" instead of "mrs. robinson." the director for "the graduate" was so crazy about simon and garfunkel music that he wanted the song fitted for his 1967 movie, starring anne bancroft and dustin hoffman. obviously it worked out great!
