I wouldn't mind living on gilligan's island ....at least for a week. fresh waterfall, coconuts, seaweed, and fish. allready built huts plenty of quiet solitude. temperate, air sunshine and best of all no gilligan!!!!
I'm 15 And I Watch Gilligan's Island It's A Time-less Peice Of Television That'll Never Grow Old And Is A 1000 Times Better Than A Lot Of The Shows On Television At The Moment.
this vid, just triggered such an intense memory from my childhood. i forgot the name of the show , the theme song, all the characters except Bob Denver's face.... and all i remembered was the storyline being stuck on a desert island. i was born in 1993, this was the only show i watched in black and white omgggg & all this have been in the back of my memory for years untill now.
So much fun to listen too!! Me too!! I grew up with them..lol ya know if he fixed the damn boat the show would have ended..duh..lol half the fun was watching thier goof ups...good times, good times
What I wanna know is where did they keep getting all their clothes if it was only a three hour tour?? Who carries 50 sets of cltohes around for 3 hours? And why would the howells being so rich share a boat?
@romans617 LOL....I used to wonder the same thing. Also, were the Howells drug runners or something with that suitcase full of cash? But, like you I sure did love this show. I've seen every episode dozens of times, but still keep on watching.
@darkyoda The boat was entirely destroyed in one of the first episodes. Gilligan did something to ruin the glue, and the entire thing fell completely apart.
@medicinalsnowball Yeah, I know. It's always been something of a running gag with the show though. Joking that here the prof could do just about anything, but couldn't fix the boat.
In reply to wierdunclebob, the "and the rest" version- which was black & white, came before "the professor and MaryAnn version - which was shown in color.
My dad loved this show when he was little. I've watched it a few times, and I like it. But the theme song is possibly the best theme song in existence.
I don't remember the video past the first verse but this is the version of the song that I remember best. In the later series, they changed, "the professor and Maryanne" to "and the rest" which I thought was scandalous as they were my two favourite characters! Good sound to it, too. Thanks =)
You can read Emily Dickinson's ballad "Because I Could Not Stop For Death" to this theme song. I am warning you though. Once you read it to this beat you cannot read it normally ever again. The beat always sticks with you!!!
My teacher made us listen to this like 10 times during class and recite hope by emily Dickinson to it

Fact- Emily Dickinson's "Because I Could Not Stop For Death" can be sung to this tune. Seriously.

The Professor could make a microwave out of Gilligan's hat, two coconuts, some palm, and a hairpin...but he couldn't fix the damn boat?
darkyoda 6 months ago 31
@darkyoda Yet even he can't make an engine that big! in case you didn't notice, the engine, propellers, and about half the hull are gone.

And that's why I still love Gilligan's Island.
It's a respite from the cares of yesterday, and also today.
