You really should try reading the whole Bible with a mindset of trying to understand what it's saying. If you do, I think you'll find that there are no contradictions and that what it says makes sense. I'm in college, and just finished studying the Old Testament. The Bible makes so much sense after you really study it.
I would totally try, but after the creation and the start of the noah part (might be the end) I get bored. I can't continue. I find the creation part rather interesting and the revelations part interesting, but thats it. I think they are to vague to believe however.
I mean, the Bible speaks nothing of Dinosaurs, nor destroying anything before Humans being created. We also have no cave drawings of dinosaurs from early man. So that is part of why I don't believe in a god.

I will readily admit the Bible can be boring sometimes, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't read it. What do you mean by destroying anything before humans were created? And there is major archeological evidence for dinosaurs, if you're claiming they never existed.

He was using Pascal's wager. "If I'm right about God then I gain everything (eternal life). If not, then I have lost nothing. Why not believe?" Makes sense to me. @ampleperson And if you need further evidence that suggests that Keyensian economics is not only failing us, but the whole world, just look at France, Germany and the U.K. All three of the countries used those Keyensian principles for years, and they all are veering away from them as we speak for the same reason. The purpose of that style of economics is to prevent things from getting worse, but it also prevents things from getting better as well due to the massive debt the countries accumulate.

And this recession was not due to laxed regulations on business, it was due to government and the banks colluding. Read up on the Housing Market crisis, and then respond. You obviously do not know what the government was doing with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in regards to these faulty loans.

Even Barney Frank (Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee that overseen Fannie and Freddie) said that everything was fine in 2007, and advised for more investment. Who was going to regulate this? Both R's and D's were invested.

@ampleperson I'm not quite sure where you are getting your statistics from, but all other legitimate sources indicate that the unemployment rate in Jan of 2010 was @ 9.7%, compared to now @ 9.2%. I would say a half a percent drop, especially now going into the holiday season, is rather miniscule, and not the "Change" that people "Hope" for. This year, is the first year that we showed negative growth in GDP. Sounds like Keyensian economics is doing wonders here in the U.S. Failed policies.

Why does your God have to be behind it? Hawkings saw that he could still continue working. He didn't have to be able to walk, he just had to think, with reason. Any person with a degree in Astrophysics (I think thats the degree he has, he may have more) can do the same thing. If they had his condition and had the same thought "I can still do my work" they all could.

You really should try reading the whole Bible with a mindset of trying to understand what it's saying. If you do, I think you'll find that there are no contradictions and that what it says makes sense. I'm in college, and just finished studying the Old Testament. I would totally try, but after the creation and the start of the noah part (might be the end) I get bored. I can't continue. I find the creation part rather interesting and the revelations part interesting, but thats it. I think they are to vague to believe however.
I mean, the Bible speaks nothing of Dinosaurs, nor destroying anything before Humans being created. We also have no cave drawings of dinosaurs from early man. So that is part of why I don't believe in a god.

I will readily admit the Bible can be boring sometimes, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't read it. What do you mean by destroying anything before humans were created? And there is major archeological evidence for dinosaurs, if you're claiming they never existed.

@ampleperson And if you need further evidence that suggests that Keyensian economics is not only failing us, but the whole world, just look at France, Germany and the U.K. All three of the countries used those Keyensian principles for years, and they all are veering away from them as we speak for the same reason. The purpose of that style of economics is to prevent things from getting worse, but it also prevents things from getting better as well due to the massive debt the countries accumulate.

And this recession was not due to laxed regulations on business, it was due to government and the banks colluding. Read up on the Housing Market crisis, and then respond. You obviously do not know what the government was doing with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in regards to these faulty loans.

@MrZackeriess The reality of the crisis was that banks were colluding with government ran agencies (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) who were being pressued by government officials and pressure groups like Acorn to buy up risky loans originally issued by the banks. Even Barney Frank (Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee that overseen Fannie and Freddie) said that everything was fine in 2007, and advised for more investment. Who was going to regulate this? Both R's and D's were invested.

@ampleperson I'm not quite sure where you are getting your statistics from, but all other legitimate sources indicate that the unemployment rate in Jan of 2010 was @ 9.7%, compared to now @ 9.2%. I would say a half a percent drop, especially now going into the holiday season, is rather miniscule, and not the "Change" that people "Hope" for. This year, is the first year that we showed negative growth in GDP. Sounds like Keyensian economics is doing wonders here in the U.S. Failed policies.

If you actually kept up on economic issues you would have a name or a website or some other reference, but you don't. You keep wanting to make this about everything except the the fact that you have no real understanding of economics have been called out for lying about it. The only way I will accept those as sources of fact is if you accept the sources I listed, and why would you? They are completely conservatively biased just as your sources are liberally biased.

And maybe you're right, they are biased, but i don't think so. The politifact website i have listed would have done the same research w/ Republican leader in office as they are doing on obama. I hate to be "radical" but socialism (which no country purely is) works great. The happyest countrys around are scandanavian. Guess what they are a little more socialist. However they are not giving out handouts to a bunch of jobless ingrates. Go back to education, because they invest in education,business, and health they ended up with people with jobs who have very comfortable, happy, prosperous lives. You are not being taxed any more federally and all the money "handed out" has to be payed back in full. IT IS CALLED A LOAN. Things like the Iraq war and previous hand outs, corprate subsadies, farm subsadies, and other spending by the previous administration is just money down the toilet never to be seen again!
