  • whoa! you can put your legs up pretty high in the straddle position. Can you do a sitting straddle press to handstand?

  • i like i like i love it i can't wait to do this

    YES~!

  • Nice. never thought of that!

  • makes it look so easy.

  • Just because a lot of people use it, doesn't make it good, just like shoulder press behind the head. Most people are lacking in the glutes compared to the hip flexors. THanks for your response.

  • what are you talking about? firstly he mentions that the torso must be held as still as possible and you gotta bring the legs to your chest, and not see-saw all over. secondly, strengthening your hip flexors are important, and is totally different from strengthening your hip extensors, which are also important and which is not the point of this video

  • This is silly, first you must keep the torso in a static state. Try hip flexion standing with one foot on a box 90 degrees. Look at Mike Boyles approach. This example shows an incorrect look at training.

  • il check that out thanks.

alot of gymnasts i know use this exercize though and they have pretty strong hip flexors

  • Simple, I like it, gotta find some space for this.

  • thx for this. im in gymnastics and martial arts so i was wondering if you have an ideal routine?

  • is it okay to have a lot of pressure on your hands or is it the ultimate goal to relieve as much pressure as possible?

  • hand pressure is fine. you realy want to keep your back still though so that your lifting your legs not just rocking back and forth.

also you could try them hanging from a chinup bar standing up raising one leg up in front of you one at a time.

  • If this exercise is done perfectly all of your weight could be on your hands. The farther you lean forward the more difficult and more effective it is.

  • HIP FLEXORS- most underrated part of a sports persons body.Make the hipflexor stretch & this exercise part of ur routine!

If ur having re-occurring groin &/or thigh strains, make ur hip flexors a priority.

The hip-flexor stretch before football (soccer) relieved me of my long standing groin adductor & thigh strain nightmare. I just can't believe how little is written about these muscles. Its because so much emphasis is placed on the stretching & exercising of the quads (thighs)....

  • ....Hip flexors pull the knee upwards.Only 1 of the 4 quadricep muscles is involved in hip flexion & thats the Rectusfemoris. This means when ur doing ur regular thigh stretches, youre neglecting the Rectus femoris. This is another reason for why this stretch & exercise is so crucial. If your kicking or running then this should be your number1 stretch & exercise.

If you don't believe me then just do it & the results will speak for themselves.

    Great upload bobbyconditioning!

  • Is it okay if your back slouches a little when you do this exercise?

    Well, more than a little...

  • hey umm it probably meens you need to work on hamstring flexibility. i think you want to aim to eventualy have a strait back.

well if the ultimate aim is to be able to lift your leg up high when your standing up then you need a combo of flexible hamstrings and strong hipflexors.

so yeah just keep doing the hips and also flexibleise your self. and you can also try doing it one leg at a time standing up.. kinda like ballet dancers do.

  • what if you have this problem but you can martial arts front split?

  • Hip flexors are very important for maximum velocity sprinting. It doesnt matter if your hip extensors are strong like Louie Simmons, if your hip flexors lack strength and explosiveness.

Thank you very much for this tip. ***** :)

  • thanks for the work out been I've been trying to see what exercises are good for the hip flexors.

  • Me too.

I have tight ones, making it hard for me to do leaps, and also i have lower back aches.

  • hip flexors arent just contained in the hip, they in the quads as well.

  • and the Psoas also.

  • looks like a brutal exercise if you do enough of them

  • Oh yeah!

  • Ridiculous exercise!!!

    What´s your objective with this?

  • hip flexorz. if you wana be able to do russian lever or stradle lever and almost any press to handstand. and be able to tuck tight in gymnastics you need strong hip lfexors duhhhhhh! :p

  • Does this harm your flexibility though? Like when you try to do the splits?

  • nope makes it better if any thing like dynamic flexability

  • Sounds great. Thanks man.

  • I sort of do something like this but it's hard to find floor space for it sometimes. Very dynamic sort of flexibility.

  • thanks for the tip. very cool. :-)

  • really useful.. thanks!! your awesome.

  • actully find this really usefull, thankbob
